Please upload an image edited with Geosetter. The digiKam metadata editor does
not use the database, if the information does not appear in the editor fields,
it is not in the metadata either.

I can not reproduce the problem that IPTC field can be changed without
problems. What image type are they using?
Please download DebugView from Microsoft and start it. Activate the internal
debugging in the digiKam setup under Miscellaneous-> System and start digiKam
again. Now make a change to the IPTC field and post all the output from the
DebugView window.

Can some information on where these specs live? It looks like this was supposed
to be fixed back in 2018:
https://github.com/KDE/powerdevil/commit/152400c1b6880506ee1395011686c2b191f419a0

It looks like this may be manifesting in a very weird way. I currently get
"nothing" (literally no name/text) "is currently blocking sleep and screen
locking (Playing)" from Rythmbox.

It would be nice to zoom in/out. On desktop this can be done using the scroll
wheel and when on mobile (ex Pinephone) you can pinch. On the pinephone it is
impossible to accurately click where you want because the minefield itself is
such a small part of the actual app.

Krita's "Submit Bug Report" debug text

SUMMARY
Some links to the Krita artists forum where I describe this in detail, which
I'll link for posterity and then re-summarize below:
-
https://krita-artists.org/t/bug-zoom-tool-and-application-pointer-gets-stuck-requiring-application-restart-video-included/34795
-
https://krita-artists.org/t/gets-stuck-on-magnifying-glass-then-literally-cannot-use-any-tool-buttons/45634/12?u=nezteb

Video demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UAm-15wvxU

It's not just sometimes either. I can reliably reproduce it every single time.
I've tried it on multiple Mac machines too: one 2018 MacBook Air, a 2017
MacBook Pro, a 2020 MacBook Pro. etc. Oddly enough, if I trigger this bug and
then open the tablet tester, my pen strokes register there just fine. I can
even click around the UI and it's nice and responsive. But the canvas itself
becomes completely unusable.

Also none of the suggestions mentioned in various forum posts work for me:
- Hitting the escape key
- Using CMD+plus and CMD+minus
- Using the normal trackpad to "unstick" the zoom
- Clicking outside of the canvas/application
- Turning off the "touch" features of the tablet so that only my pen will
register input

I even ended up contacting Wacom and they had a technical support person walk
me through tons of debugging steps, none of which worked.

Even the logs show nothing of note:

Screen Configuration - my setup could not reproduce the reported issue

I could not reproduce the issue on my setup.
I did run "kwin_x11 --replace" since I don't use wayland, but the behaviour was
the same as before.
The only noted difference is when I try to record my screen using OBS (flatpak
version), then it will add a black square around the pointer.
I attached a screenshot of my settings, if I can provide more info to help I
would need guidance in what info and how to get that.
Hope it helps!

I was able to reproduce this on 5.1.0 and recent 5.2.x by following the steps
provided (and using a 16-bit image as described in the log; no idea if that's
relevant). I couldn't narrow down the cause- it seemed to happen randomly after
a while.

I also encountered a safe assert which may or may not be relevant.
> SAFE ASSERT (krita): "m_newPropertyList == other->m_oldPropertyList" in file
> C:/mykrita/src/libs/image/commands/kis_node_property_list_command.cpp, line

I got a stacktrace in gdb by setting a breakpoint at
KisProgressWidget::cancel() (that is, when hitting the Cancel Brushstroke
button on the progress bar). I'm not sure how useful it is, but it seems like
the address for "this" isn't right...?

I can reproduce this with an empty image in my Recent Documents, on 5.1.0 as
well as 5.2.x. I'm almost convinced it happens more consistently when File
Explorer is open and not minimized...
The same warnings are logged to the console. The warnings about stopping timers
only show up preceding a crash.

The crash gives either the same backtrace as above, or this one:

Location Created is in one set of IPTC Geolocation tags (lat, long). Location
shown is in a separate set of Geolocation tags. Very few photographs use the
later set, but any camera with a GPS, or synced with a GPS track will populate
the former. Yes, it would be cool, but.

Revision: 87d0bb259a475adf94fd188cb3685d8efc16f121
Branch: qt5-maintenance

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a tag in the left panel (I have a tag set up for each step in my
workflow) - it is one of those.
2. Select some of the images and discover that they really are missing IPTC
location information.
3. Since this has to be done one image at a time in DigiKam (see bugs about
Reverse geocoding not doing it, and templates being completely useless). Use
Geosetter to do the reverse geocoding.
4. Now inspect the images in the digikam right panel.
5. Update the database from the metadata for the Album you were working on.
6. Inspect the images in the right panel again.

OBSERVED RESULT
The reverse GEOCode result is in the file.
The reverse GEO code does not appear in the metadata editor.

EXPECTED RESULT
The reverse GEOCode information should appear in the editor

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a typo in the Digikam Metadata Edit dialog box in the Edit IPTC, Origin
panel in the City field (Smyrnat)
2. Try to correct the typo. (Smyrna)
3. No matter what I have tried for saving the corrected data, the incorrect
data keeps showing back up.
4. I have tried Apply, and OK, and Next followed by Previous followed by
apply. When I hit apply, the incorrect data shows up again.

OBSERVED RESULT
The typo I am trying to correct keeps popping back up.

EXPECTED RESULT
The typo would be corrected in all cases listed in step 4 above.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Note that I am having to do this one image at a time because of a couple of
separate bugs.
Templates are horribly broken as they insist on doing everything and I have
several thousand locations, so templates are useless to me. (There are already
bugs written on this - and they have not been fixed in YEARS).
I tried doing it directly with ExifTool, and while the information appears
in the image, it is refusing to read it into the database and repopulate the
data in the right panel or the metadata dialog box. (I will be writing a bug
on this shortly.).
Reverse Geocoding also does not populate these fields as they should. (there
are already bugs written on this).

Prevent resizing issues with huge history entries

A long entry in the history of the Template combo box can lead to a
huge, unresizeable Window.
Setting the minimum width of he main window to some artifical minimum
value works around that, until a better fix is found.

[systemsettings] [Bug 458572] New: Add toggle to show all KWin scripts regardless of X-KWin-Exclude-Listing state

2022-08-31 Thread zellox
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458572

Bug ID: 458572
Summary: Add toggle to show all KWin scripts regardless of
X-KWin-Exclude-Listing state
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.25.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_kwinscripts
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: zel...@fastmail.com
CC: alexander.loh...@gmx.de, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
There should be a way (e.g. a toggle on the KCM page) to show all KWin scripts
regardless of X-KWin-Exclude-Listing status for that script.
I had an issue where all windows were set to "always on top" except for system
related ones and debugging was prolonged because the script used
X-KWin-Exclude-Listing to hide itself from the KWin Scripts listing. This could
potentially be used by malware.
"If the users don't control the program, the program controls the users. "

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install a KWin script that uses X-KWin-Exclude-Listing such as Bismuth
2. Observe it is not listed in KWin Scripts KCM page

OBSERVED RESULT
The KCM for KWin Scripts shows only default scripts / those not using
X-KWin-Exclude-Listing

EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to press a button/toggle on that KCM page to show all scripts
regardless of X-KWin-Exclude-Listing state.

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Created attachment 151743

Some are picked up, some aren't

A follow up to bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458526

Only half of the album covers get shown. The art was not picked up from the
folders as it was saved as Cover.jpeg (addressed in the linked bug). Still,
half of the album art got shown.

The files are all uniform - all have Cover.jpeg in them and are mostly mp3 -
but that does not seem to matter, some mp3 are picked up, some aren't (oggs
aren't, that's a known bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443519 ).

I modified all of them with Easytag, so they really should be fairly uniform.
Dolphin displays album art for all of them.

I am willing to send a folder with files where the album art is picked up and
where it is not for further testing. I have no idea why it is hapenning.

Also, I am on 22.04.3 which was released about a month ago, so I should have
this fix: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418800

Go ahead.

But ultimately I wonder why the functionality of hiding scripts even needs to
exist. Seems like it could be a useful thing for hiding malware.

There should be an button in the KCM to show all scripts regardless of that
flag. I should be able to control KDE ultimately, not some random script. Are

  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash

Application: dolphin (21.12.2)

Qt Version: 5.15.3
Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Operating System: Linux 5.17.5-300.fc36.x86_64 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: Fedora Linux 36 (KDE Plasma)
DrKonqi: 5.24.3 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I was duplicating files from a modification-protected internal NTFS partition
to another internal NTFS partition of the same drive that pbviously was
possible to modify.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
During the previous operation of the host OS, when I allowed the machine to
sleep, the screen did not appear subsequently. Consequently, I forcefully
reinitialized the machine successfully. However, when the initialization of
dolphin that eventually unexpectedly ceased to operate / crashed was
initialized, enablement of the menubar caused it to disappear, whereas
disablement caused it to appear. This demonstrated corruption of the
configuration within memory, so I reinitalized dolphin, and drkonqi appeared
immediately.

- Custom settings of the application:
What was described within the previous section.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.
