[kwin] [Bug 459085] New: Second monitor is disabled in Displaylink setup under Wayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459085 Bug ID: 459085 Summary: Second monitor is disabled in Displaylink setup under Wayland Product: kwin Version: 5.25.5 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: grave Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: alexander.reinho...@kdemail.net Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I am using a TUXEDO Computer PULSE 15 (gen 1, specs see down below) laptop with an i-tec Displaylink adapter (TUXEDO Office Hub). After the upgrade from Plasma 5.24.5 to 5.25.5, my external monitor is disabled when starting Plasma under Wayland. Also, it seems that the display is entering an infinite loop of crashes and attempts to recover. Strangely, changing once into the console (e. g. CTRL+ALT+F3) stops this loop. However, the external monitor is never activated / recognized. So, from my point of view, this is a regression compared to 5.24, since my setup worked back then. Using Xorg is currently unfortunately not an option, since then everything is slowed down to a few FPS. Maybe I can provide a screenshot of the config page with the error message shown, but due to the continuously crashing KWin, it's quite hard to do anything... STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Attach the laptop to the Displaylink adapter 2. Log in with the Wayland session 3. OBSERVED RESULT The external monitor is not recognized / activated and the display / KWin enters an infinite loop of crash and recovery. EXPECTED RESULT Working display setup. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.97.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 Kernel Version: 5.19.7-1-MANJARO (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics Memory: 15.1 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD RENOIR Manufacturer: TUXEDO Product Name: TUXEDO Pulse 15 Gen1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 438312] Restarting kwin_x11 forgets activities assigned to windows
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438312 --- Comment #18 from Aaron Rainbolt --- (In reply to Aaron Rainbolt from comment #17) > OK, nevermind, upon closer inspection I'm looking at the wrong code. No > changes I make to bool Activities::start(const QString ) seem to have any > effect (not even a blatant null pointer dereference or an std::terminate()). > So I'm not sure when this code gets called, but I don't think it's called > when kwin_x11 is launched. Either that or else KWin is insanely robust. And it looks like even this comment was thanks to me not knowing what I was doing when I originally wrote it. Thankfully, though, it looks like this bug has finally been figured out for the most part. [keditbookmarks] [Bug 459079] New: Toolbar configuration does not stick.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459079 Bug ID: 459079 Summary: Toolbar configuration does not stick. Product: keditbookmarks Version: 22.04.3 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: konq-b...@kde.org Reporter: 4s...@mythicflow.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 152039 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=152039=edit Screenshot showing that the current toolbar does not coincide with the "Current actions" in 'the "Configure Toolbars..." wizard. SUMMARY Icons added to toolbar via 'Configure Toolbar..." do not persist after 'keditbookmarks' quits. They do not appear in the toolbar in subsequent runs of the application. However, in the subsequent run, the added actions do remain under "Current actions" in the 'Configure Toolbars...' wizard, but without the icon changes made during configuration. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Dolphin menu: Go > Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks... (this launches 'keditbookmarks'). 2. 'keditbookmarks' menu: Settings > Configure Toolbars... 3. Add icons by moving them from the "Available actions" column on the left to the "Current actions" column on the right. 4. Change the icons of at least one of the added actions – I added icons to actions that didn't have one. 5. Click the "OK" button (this closes the wizard). 6. 'keditbookmarks' now shows the added actions/icons, as configured, in the toolbar. 7. Quit 'keditbookmarks'. 8. Relaunch 'keditbookmarks' as shown in step 1 above. 9. Re-launch the "Configure Toolbars..." wizard as shown in step 2 above. OBSERVED RESULT - Following step 8, the toolbar is the default one, without the added actions/icons. - Following step 9, the "Current actions" column shows the actions as configured, but the actions whose icons were changed do not show the configured icons. EXPECTED RESULT - The state of the toolbar in step 6 (immediately after configuration) should persist across subsequent launches of 'keditbookmarks'. - The icon changes made in step 4 should persist across subsequent launches of 'keditbookmarks'. - When the "Configure Toolbars..." wizard is launched, its "Current actions" column should fully coincide with the current state of the toolbar. [plasmashell] [Bug 459078] New: Applied Desktop Layouts wider than display no longer scale down to fit
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459078 Bug ID: 459078 Summary: Applied Desktop Layouts wider than display no longer scale down to fit Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: doncb...@gmail.com CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Desktop Layouts applied through Global Themes no longer seem to be resized to fit the display if it was smaller. In other words, a Panel Layout that was for a screen 1920 pixels wide will not resize to a screen that was 1600 pixels wide (unless plasma is restarted). Instead, the panel will extend off of the screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. Have a display that is not the size of the target theme 1. Download a Global Theme (I used Apple-Ventura-Dark) 2. Apply the Desktop Layout 3. OBSERVED RESULT The panel extends off of the right side of the screen. The clock and applets are not visible. Editing the panel also shows no handles to resize the panel (as they are off screen). EXPECTED RESULT The panel refreshes itself and shrinks to fit the screen. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon Unstable Edition (Docker) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 Additional Information: I believe that previously, larger panels would shrink to fit smaller displays, but smaller panels would not expand to fill say, a 2k display. Simulating this with the Docker image is fairly easy by creating a second display that's smaller than the specified themes (usually meant for 1920x1080). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[bugs.kde.org] [Bug 459076] New: "File a Bug" should show common places to report bugs for new users
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459076 Bug ID: 459076 Summary: "File a Bug" should show common places to report bugs for new users Product: bugs.kde.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: product/component changes Assignee: sysad...@kde.org Reporter: doncb...@gmail.com CC: christo...@krop.fr Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY For better or for worse, KDE's bug reporting process could probably be made more accessible for new users. For first time reporters, clicking "File a Bug" and having hundreds of things immediately dumped on you is rather discouraging. I think at bare minimum, a few things like the "Kde" category to report bugs when you are not sure where to put them could be pinned to the top of the list. Some potential improvements in reducing seek time: Alphabetical indexing to skip ahead Folding large categories into trees. For example, "Apps" or "Frameworks" In a very ideal world, we would have pictures , at least for the apps or big categories STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Try to file a bug 2. Click "File a Bug" OBSERVED RESULT Get lost trying to search for which jargon could possibly be related to what you saw. EXPECTED RESULT Get a little lost, but get closer to the right thing and be able to somewhat verify whether the place you're reporting your bug to is what you think it is. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Ultimately, there are many limitations to this and even if it were to be successfully implemented, there would probably be a greater cost of lower quality bug reports to sort through. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwalletmanager] [Bug 459039] Gripe with Kwallet Password Management
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459039 michaelk83 changed: What|Removed |Added CC||mk.mat...@gmail.com See Also||https://bugs.kde.org/show_b ||ug.cgi?id=458318 --- Comment #2 from michaelk83 --- AFAIK, KWallet has suffered from a shortage of developer time for many years. It is indeed outdated, and not likely to be vastly improved any time soon. The overall direction for Linux is to switch to Sercret Service, and kwalletd5 has very recently received its own Secret Service API support. This now creates a common interface between the different secret storage backends, client applications, and manager applicatons, so different backends become interchangeable, and different managers become interchangeable. Instead of a manager specific to kwalletd5, you would have a manager for Sercet Service, and it would be able to talk to any of the Sercret Service backends. Right now, there is Gnome's Seahorse, which can now talk to kwalletd5 as well. There's no KDE-native equivalent yet, that I'm aware of. But there is now both the ability and justification to develop one. (There is also KeePassXC's own UI, but that can only talk to KeePassXC.) As the migration to Secret Service matures, eventually, the old KWallet API can be deprecated (Bug 458318), and at that point, either KWalletManager will need to be ported to Secret Service as well, or it will need to be replaced by a new Secret Service manager. I agree that an official KDE fork of KeePassXC is also an interesting idea. In the mean time, if you encounter a KDE app that doesn't support Secret Service yet, encourage its maintainers to switch to QtKeyChain, or at least to libsecert. The former is preferred. It supports both Secret Service and the old KWallet API. As for your concerns with KeePassXC, you can try raising those with KeePassXC's developers (but do search for existing issues first). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459069 Eduardo changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED Ever confirmed|0 |1 CC||eduardo.c...@kdemail.net --- Comment #1 from Eduardo --- I can confirm, and it is pretty severe IMO. It was probably introduced in a recent update. I use Arch Linux, only noticed it today. It is easier to reproduce by right clicking the address bar and setting "Text Completion" to "None". This way, actually nothing works. You can try to type "/", "/etc/", "/bin", "~" nothing works. Sometimes it starts working again, seemingly random. But if you close Dolphin and open it again, the bug is always back. It is actually not a Dolphin bug, as it also happens on the Open/Save file dialogs that use the same URL location bar all over KDE apps. I suspected KIO, however I tried compiling some old KIO commit and I could not get rid of the bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Committed on 13/09/2022 at 20:47. Pushed by aacid into branch 'master'. Implemented blurred flag feature **What does this merge request address?** This merge request relates to the Bug 457725, which suggested a new feature whereby certain flags with text on them can be blurred out, to make the flag guessing games more challenging. The flag should only be blurred in the guessing games, and in normal "browsing" mode the flag should remain unblurred. **How has the new functionality been implemented?** The map parser has been amended to now look for an additional division property entitled "blurredflag", which should contain a blurred variant of the flag. A new method has been added to the "division" class entitled "getFlagForQuestion", which returns a blurred flag if one is available. This method is now used in the flag guessing games.
