[systemsettings] [Bug 462299] [Feature Request] Map Caps Lock to do nothing, instead of outright disabling
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462299 --- Comment #1 from spamless.9v...@simplelogin.com --- Actually, it might be slightly more complicated - some programs will register Caps Lock in this state, but others don't, so some sort of catcher program that translates the input might be needed. Although this might be something that should be delegated downstream to Valve and Proton to handle. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462295 Bug ID: 462295 Summary: Boxes instead of text displayed for parts of PDF file Classification: Applications Product: okular Version: 22.08.3 Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: PDF backend Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org Reporter: vo...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** Crossed out boxes displayed instead of text for the attached file from https://www.wahlen-berlin.de/Wahlen/BE2016/afspraes/download/SB_B07-02-03_2016j05_BE.pdf *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Download PDF from https://www.wahlen-berlin.de/Wahlen/BE2016/afspraes/download/SB_B07-02-03_2016j05_BE.pdf 2. Open the file with okular 3. OBSERVED RESULT Red and black crossed out boxes are displayed on most pages of the file, but text can be copied to the clipboard without problems. The only missing type 1 font is Helvetica, which was first replaced by Nimbus Sans on my system, but after installation of Helvetica.pbf from the net and a restart of okular (Healvetica.pbf was then used instead), the result is the same. All other fonts are at least partial included in the file. EXPECTED RESULT Text in the file is displayed on all pages. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444297 --- Comment #18 from Wolfgang Faust --- Worth noting that KDE Neon 22.04 now has a much newer version of Poppler (22.09.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build3) and I can now open both the PDF I was having trouble with and the example that Gustavo provided; so the specific circumstances that prompted this bug report appear to have been resolved. Amazing! Here's the instruction manual just there. :) Yes that MR will do (the code change seemed pretty simple too!), blur and growing icons were examples to better understand what I meant by "alternatives to the faint icon glow". I customized my panel to leverage the icon backgrounds in various states so I will want to keep consistency in my theme here as well. Having, maybe one day, more hover feedbacks as you point out, would provide more alternatives to the user, I personally like the idea. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462253 --- Comment #6 from veggero --- > Ok so then I understand there is a merge request already for my feature > suggestion? Correct: With https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/merge_requests/1265 applied (hopefully in the next plasma version), you should be able to add an element called "launcher-hover-*" (where * is top, topright, etc) similarly to the existing "hover-*" elements in the tasks.svg file of the plasma theme that I think you already saw ("much like an SVG form, which is used say for normal, hover, focused, etc"). This will allow you to set some kind of more visible background, with whatever look you prefer. (Unluckily, blur is not something that our SVG viewer supports). This doesn't change Breeze *by default*, so it does require changing the Plasma Theme; however I'm not against adding some more hover feedback for launchers as well, it's something that could be discussed with the community. The other solution - making the icons bigger, similar to Latte Dock - is much more complex to implement, especially if we had to draw the icons outside of the panel area, as Latte does; I would prefer to keep that complexity in Latte, to maintain Plasma Panels as simple (and bug-free) as possible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Right now there is no option in system settings to do that and have to rely on command line solutions to make that happen. Many users have asked the same question and some info is in this url https://askubuntu.com/questions/1030850/is-there-a-gui-tool-for-managing-systemd-on-ubuntu-18-04-bionic-beaver In the solutions one is promising which is https://github.com/KDE/systemdgenie I have installed in and the screenshot is also provided (kde-config-sysemd) I hope this is added by default in system settings or else better integrate into Background Services menu which makes sense for the activity. This package gives a basic ability to deal with systemd services but its out of place with KDE design and if KDE integrates into system settings it could be even better. [kwin] [Bug 462290] New: A window should not be moved to the top on a mouse down event when the event results in a selection
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462290 Bug ID: 462290 Summary: A window should not be moved to the top on a mouse down event when the event results in a selection Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.26.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: glx Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: carlon.l...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY This is a pretty bothering behavior of Plasma. When something is selected in a window that is not on top, that window is brought to the top immediately on the mouse down event. This creates a problem: when something is being selected to be dragged to the window on top, the mouse down event hides the window immediately, making it impossible to drop the selected object. Both Mac OS and Windows do not behave like this, and I think this should be the proper behavior. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Place a dolphin window somewhere and make it pretty large. 2. Open a new dolphin window and make it smaller, overlapping the previous one. 3. Now try to move a file from the first window (which is not on top) into the smaller widow (which is on top). OBSERVED RESULT The result is that the smaller window is hidden as soon as the file is selected. This makes it impossible to drop on it. EXPECTED RESULT In my opinion, the window in the back should not be moved to the top on mouse down event on selection. The mouse down event should select the file in the back window, but the top window should remain on top. This makes it possible to drop on it. [okular] [Bug 416796] Display of music on staff lines are difficult to read
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416796 François Gallois changed: What|Removed |Added CC||francois.gallois.pro@gmail. ||com --- Comment #9 from François Gallois --- I'm having the exact same problem than here and for https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377493, I'm attaching the examples for my exact case. The music sheet I'm joining seems to be a transcript of music I don't own, and I don't have any permission from the author either so here is the link to the video that links to the said file (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL4dLPhsFi0). As you can see in the comparison photos (librewolf/firefox on the left, okular on the right), it is very difficult to distinguish a note that's on a line and above the line in some cases (the document is at fault too, but it is especially troubling with okular). The problem arises as long as I try to arrange a page on half my monitor, that is 1600 x 600 aspect ratio, and disappears if I try to view the document with a bigger zoom. I could gladly test the proposed patch, but it seems unable to be merged, so I'll leave it to you until there's a new update on this. Thanks for your hard work ! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Now that almost all compositors center and mask around fullscreen windows, this can be revisited, but KWin missing support means that it either couldn't be enabled by default, or KDE would need to be detected and fall back to stretching the image instead of using the correct aspect ratio. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
