[systemsettings] [Bug 417615] Option to disable kdeconnect

(In reply to Bernd Steinhauser from comment #14)

Not everyone uses, or even wants, systemd. (Or linux, for that matter.) Please
don't add dependencies on it.

KDE already has way to manage things like this, with the Background Services
and Autostart control panels.

Probably there are still some root-owned (maybe hidden) folders around. I
suggest that you extract the source archive inside a folder in your home
directory, change into the extracted folder and try again.

I am currently not running Kate for my dev work, so I don't have it installed
anymore. However, if I do in the future start using Kate again, then I can
always file a new report if the problem still persists. Probably best to close
this issue for now, unless someone else wants to test this.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to this old issue.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463263

I don't quite understand the problem of how you organize your collections. Is
it about them being able to see which collection is mounted in the album tree?
Or do you have identical albums on different hard drives and want to know which
hard drive it is? How did you integrate your collections, as a removable drive
or as a network collection? I don't understand how the drive label is supposed
to help. Why don't you give the collections unique names?

SUMMARY
***
I am trying to archive emails via keyboard shortcut and somehow the assigned
key works only once.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Set up A folder for Archiving via Settings/Configure
Kmail/Accounts/Receiving/Archive Folder
1. Open Settings/Configure Keyboard Shortcuts
2. Filter/Search by "archive"
3. There are two options, "Archive" and "Archive Folder"
4. Select "Archive"
5. Set custom shortcut, I tried several and none worked, but for this example
let's use Alt-A
6. Press Ok to save
7. Repeat 1-3 to confirm the setting is still there
8. Navigate to the folder set up for Archiving
9. Hit Alt-A
10. Email under cursor disappears and is moved to Archive location, as expected
11. Hit Alt-A a second time, nothing happens
12. Repeat 1-3 to observe that the shortcut has disappeared

I am able to repeat this as often as I want, the shortcut gets deleted after
first usage.
I also tried the "Archive Folder" option in step 3, in this case the shortcut
is not deleted, behaves as expected.

EXPECTED RESULT
Shortcut is not deleted after first use.

I have seen this one here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=345992 but
wasn't sure if it's ok to bring this 4 year old zombie back to live or if I
better start a new.

This is a won't fix. 1.0 is the default value that the underlying font gives
us. If you want less, then you should change the font to behave that way. If
the editor provides a way to do this, it will just wreck the UI.

[kwayland-integration] [Bug 463282] New: KDE Wayland blocks pressing Meta key and freezes all widgets and panels on Desktop when playing Steam game or using some apps e.g Vivaldi

2022-12-20 Thread Zesko
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463282

Bug ID: 463282
Summary: KDE Wayland blocks pressing Meta key and freezes all
widgets and panels on Desktop when playing Steam game
or using some apps e.g Vivaldi
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwayland-integration
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: zeskot...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When I am playing any game on Steam, I want to press Meta/Window-key to open
KDE menu and minimize this game, but in reality the pressing Meta-key does not
work and this game does not be minized and stays on Desktop. I saw all widgets
e.g. the clock and system monitoring are froren on my other monitor (That
means, they are blocked by Wayland when playing gaming or some apps e.g
Vivaldi).

I have to manually click and close the game with the mouse, then the pressing
Meta-key works back fine and all widgets are unlocked by Wayland.

OR

I have to move the mouse cursor OUTSIDE of any game or the window of some app
e.g.Vivaldi, then the Meta-key and all widgets are free.

That happens after some KDE update. But I am sure KDE Wayland had no issue
before this update.
Switch to X11 that has no isssue.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go KDE Wayland and use the latest version of KDE plasma on Manjaro Testing
branch
2. Playing Steam game e.g. Dota 2 or using some browser e.g. Vivaldi (the
mouse stays on this app more than 5 min)
3. Pressing Meta/Window-key
4. But this game is not minimized to the panel and KDE menu does not be
opened. > Issue, because Meta-Key is blocked or frozen by Wayland
5. See a widget e.g. the clock is frozen too.

OBSERVED RESULT
- Pressing Meta-key does not work because it is blocked by Wayland or Kwin when
playing game or using some app.
- All widgets are frozen or blocked by Wayland on my other monitor.

EXPECTED RESULT
- Pressing Meta-key should work and does not be blocked like before.
- All widgets should not be frozen when playing any game or using some app.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush Engine/Bristle
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lmariesoli...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The quality of all of my drawings has dropped out of nowhere, and new drawings
have the same low quality. Brush strokes are fuzzy and smudgy. The resolution
is high and has not been changed, I've experimented with different brushes and
canvas sizes, and I haven't done anything abnormal to make this happen, but
everything looks out of focus.
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Krita.
2. Open any new or old .kra or .png file.
3. If old, observe low quality.
4. If new, make a mark on the canvas and observe blurriness.

OBSERVED RESULT
I've attached a video of the issue - the first picture is the .kra file still
available in Krita to edit, and the second one is a file I saved separately and
sent to myself before this happened. Before, they both had the same quality
level.

EXPECTED RESULT

[systemsettings] [Bug 463280] New: no external monitor support

2022-12-20 Thread Robin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463280

Bug ID: 463280
   Summary: no external monitor support
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.24.6
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_kscreen
  Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: robin.kn...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
External monitor support doesn't work at all. The only monitor option is
default laptop screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. plugin external monitor
2. choose any option from the popup display selection (makes no difference,
nothing changes)
3. go to main settings menu, then display settings
4. no external monitor is shown, only main (laptop) monitor

OBSERVED RESULT
No external monitor is shown, only main (laptop) monitor appears in settings
app.

EXPECTED RESULT
All monitors should appear in the settings app. The popup (also triggered by
the display global shortcut key) should allow switching monitor configurations.

[dolphin] [Bug 463279] New: Ampersands (&) in filename missing in Compress submenu

2022-12-20 Thread John Veness
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463279

Bug ID: 463279
Summary: Ampersands (&) in filename missing in Compress submenu
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 22.12.0
  Platform: OpenSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: john@pelago.org.uk
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin
2. Create a new folder called, for example, "Night & Day"
3. Right-click on the folder, and open the Compress submenu

OBSERVED RESULT
Submenu items called:
- Here as "Night Day.tar.gz"
- Here as "Night Day.zip"

EXPECTED RESULT
Submenu items called:
- Here as "Night & Day.tar.gz"
- Here as "Night & Day.zip"

[kalarm] [Bug 463278] New: "Time from now" alarms are unexpectedly imprecise

2022-12-20 Thread Rickard Westman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463278

Bug ID: 463278
Summary: "Time from now" alarms are unexpectedly imprecise
Classification: Applications
   Product: kalarm
   Version: 3.3.6
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: djar...@kde.org
  Reporter: rwest...@bredband.net
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the dialog box for a new display alarm.
2. For the alarm time, select "Time from now" with a period of 1 minute, but
don't click OK immediately.
3. Wait until the system time is 5 seconds before a whole minute, then click
OK.

OBSERVED RESULT
The display alarm is triggered after 5 seconds, rather than the requested 1
minute.

EXPECTED RESULT
I expected the display alarm to trigger after 1 minute, precise to the second
or so.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux distribution: Kubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
I assume the alarm trigger time is always converted to an absolute time, and
that the truncation to whole minutes takes place because absolute times are
only kept with minute precision. Fine for absolute trigger times, but not
really adequate for relative times which could reasonably be a small number of
minutes. For minimal changes, perhaps store the time with second precision and
use that for triggering, but round to nearest minute when shown/edited as an
absolute time in the UI?

SUMMARY
Seeing the vast majority of issues with Plasma Session on Wayland have finally
been fixed, I decided to try switching from X11 again after years of waiting.
Apart from some annoying but bearable intermittent bugs, there's one persistent
issue I'm now encountering with Dolphin:

Holding Control or Shift to copy or move files no longer seems to be working.
Upon click-dragging an item, I'm always asked if I want to either copy or move
that item. The menu even shows the Control and Shift shortcuts, but it's as if
the buttons are no longer detected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Either open two Dolphin sessions or use one with split view. Go to different
directories and click-drag files between them while holding the Control or
Shift key down.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin acts as if no key is being held. It will ask you whether to copy or
move the file instead of automatically doing so based on the key held.

EXPECTED RESULT
On X11 holding Control while dragging the item copies it whereas holding Shift
moves it without a prompt.

I'm willing to give it a go. My distro (Debian) doesn't have 5.27 packages yet

phrxmd changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||philipp.reichm...@gmail.com

KRunner is great - the best launcher I've used so far - but I would be very
happy if this was customizable to some extent.

For example, I'd like to be able to have applications ranked higher than
recently opened files. Here are two use cases for that:

- I open a downloaded AppImage to test it, then make a desktop file in
~/.local/share/applications for it. However since the AppImage counts as a
recently opened file, the AppImage file is always listed above the desktop
entry.
- Sometimes when typing an app name in KRunner and hitting Enter quickly, the
list of search results gets updated with some files from Baloo before I hit
Enter. So Enter then opens a file instead of the app, and henceforth the file
will now be ranked higher than the app because it now is a recently opened
file. This has happened to me with Telegram: in between me typing "telegram"
and hitting Enter, Baloo served up the Telegram icon file "telegram.svg", and
since it now counts as a recently opened file, the icon file always gets ranked
higher than the app and I need to press a few arrow keys to get the app.

So an UI that would consistently have me rank certain results above or below
certain other results would help me a lot.

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 463273] New: Temp Display next to Icon doesn't work

2022-12-20 Thread Andrew Brouwers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463273

Bug ID: 463273
Summary: Temp Display next to Icon doesn't work
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: 5.26.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Weather
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: abrouw...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 154713
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=154713=edit
Settings

SUMMARY
The weather applet doesn't seem to work very well; I don't seem to get temp
updates too frequently, though I suspend/wake my laptop somewhat frequently, so
maybe the "30 minute update" minimum is too much (why can't this be
lowered???).

But mostly, clicking "Show Beside Icon" doesn't seem to do anything - see
screenshot.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Try to use weather applet

2022-12-20 Thread Gudmundur

Yeah, that seems likely (seems to apply to more languages:
https://www.mail-archive.com/kde-bugs-dist@kde.org/msg748690.html*). I know I
should RTFM, but I can't find info on how to include it. Are there particular
rules that apply when a language is included (like a minimum percentage
translated, etc.)?

*I honestly did a search in the database for similar instances to mine, but
apparently not well enough, as the entry above should have popped up :-)

Test CSV

This is a test CSV. It includes a header (so the fields are understandable)
directly from Amazon's Item Download.
Two entries are included, left mostly unmodified. The first entry should parse
fine. The second line will break up the string in field 3 and stick "650-Sheet
Capacity" into field 4.

Please accept my apologies, it appears my original description is likely off.
It seems that, while the fields are not breaking at the double-quote (""),
KMyMoney appears to "stop protecting commas" such that commas after a "" are
treated as delimiters, not string text.

I'd say the better fix would be to remove the xdg autostart variant and instead
provide a systemd user unit that starts kdeconnect.
Since Plasma is started by systemd units nowadays, this step seems to be the
logical solution, I'd say.
That way, the user can enable/disable it like other user services.
I'll try to implement and test that during the holidays.

It should also be possible to actually only start kdeconnect if there is a
request on the appropriate port.
e.g. some distributions start sshd only if there is a request on the port. (via
the sshd.socket unit)

[kleopatra] [Bug 463266] New: When I select pgp text to decrypt, then go into Kleopatra to use Tools -> Clipboard -> all the options are greyed out, including the one I need- Decrypt/Verify

2022-12-20 Thread Fred
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463266

Bug ID: 463266
Summary: When I select pgp text to decrypt, then go into
Kleopatra to use Tools -> Clipboard -> all the options
are greyed out, including the one I need-
Decrypt/Verify
Classification: Applications
   Product: kleopatra
   Version: 3.1.11
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: aheine...@gnupg.org
  Reporter: 4a7e7nyjfkh7...@proton.me
CC: kdepim-b...@kde.org, m...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select pgp text to decrypt and copy to clipboard
2. Open kleopatra and go to Tools -> Clipboard -> Decrypt/Verify
3. You will see that that option and all the others are greyed out

OBSERVED RESULT
You will see that that option and all the others are greyed out

EXPECTED RESULT
The normal functioning is that the Decrypt/Verify is not greyed out, I click
it, it askes for my pgp password, then decrypts the message, which I can then
use.

[kate] [Bug 432955] enabling WYTIWYG comments

Just found this issue.

@Boris Petrov, the "none" option does turn the auto-indenting off, but the
setting doesn't "stick" so the next file you open it will be back on again,
keeping auto-indent off is a constant battle. So the menu option helps mitigate
this, but does not solve the problem. Even when indentation is off for a
specific file type in the settings, Kate sometimes inexplicably loads the file
with the indentation on.

It could just be the way I type/my brain works, but I find it really confusing
to have stuff I didn't type appear under my cursor. Also, the auto-completion,
indentation etc seems to get it wrong more often that it gets it right, so I'm
forever deleting and correcting what it does if I leave it on.

The problem is that there are so many options in kate in so many places that
control these things it takes for ever to switch it all off for everything (eg
you can't switch auto-indent off for every file type with a single control) and
new settings always seem to creep in. So a single "WYTIWYG" mode that disables
everything that tries to add/correct/change what I type would be very very
appreciated.

That's not correct. Icelandic has been a part of KDE since the late 90's, and
the language package is a part of the distribution (see here:
https://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/stable-kf5/team/is/). There has not been much
work done in the recent years, but we've started work to update it now.

Numerous ways to trigger. For example, within designer, SHIFT+ALT+R (preview).
On close of the preview window, menu is gone & only way to recover is to
restart the application.

[systemsettings] [Bug 463265] New: Rules created via the simple dialogue have opposite sense to what was expected

2022-12-20 Thread Paul Worrall
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463265

Bug ID: 463265
Summary: Rules created via the simple dialogue have opposite
sense to what was expected
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_firewall
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: p.r.worr...@gmail.com
CC: lucas.bia...@kde.org, tcanabr...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Creating a rule using the simple "Create A New Firewall Rule" dialogue to allow
incoming for a selected application should allow incoming connections _to_ that
port; instead it allows incoming connections _from_ that port.

This means that -- for example -- allowing incoming for OpenSSH does not allow
other devices on the network to connect via ssh.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the firewall module in System Settings (supplying password if
requested)
2. Enable the firewall if it isn't already
3. "+ Add Rule..." (Create A New Firewall Rule dialogue appears)
4. Select an application from the list (e.g. OpenSSH)
5. Set Policy to "Allow"
6. Set Direction to "Incoming"
7. Click "Create"

OBSERVED RESULT
Rules are created that allow incoming from "OpenSSH (22/TCP)" to "Anywhere"

EXPECTED RESULT
Rules are created that allow incoming from "Anywhere" to "OpenSSH (22/TCP)"

Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition

[kmymoney] [Bug 185570] changing account type not possible

2022-12-20 Thread Dawid Wróbel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185570

I'd say it's a valid issue and should eventually get fixed. The logic deciding
whether or not an account type can be changed and to which type should be moved
to the Account Type model and defined for each type individually. Right now
there's a dedicated piece of code that handles that, which doesn't consider all
transitions.

[kate] [Bug 463264] New: Kwrite/Kate should provide some indication of how many files are open in its tabs

2022-12-20 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463264

Bug ID: 463264
Summary: Kwrite/Kate should provide some indication of how many
files are open in its tabs
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 22.12.0
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: loca...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
It would be nice if Kate/Kwrite provided some indication of how many files are
open in its tabs, so this info would be reflected on the respective entry in
the Task Bar panel. The easiest way to do it, I think, is to provide this info
on the Kwrite/Kate title bar as the Task Bar/Manager uses the app's title bar
info to show the app's entry, right?

JUSTIFICATION
Kwrite now allows to open several files in tabs instead of opening several
Kwrite windows. Suppose, there are 3 file open in tabs in Kwrite, say, f1.txt,
f2.txt and f3.txt. When looking at the Task Bar panel the user sees something
like "f1.txt -- Kwrite" for the Kwrite app, there is no indication that other
files are open in Kwrite.

It would be useful to me if there was some kind of indicator reminding that
there are other files open in the Kwrite. For example, instead of showing
"f1.txt -- Kwrite" in the Task bar, something like "3t -- f1.txt -- Kwrite"
could be shown, where 3t is an indication that 3 tabs are currently open in
Kwrite.
