Mine is version 22.12.3 on fedora 37. The failure for me now is only switching
after a successful win on golf to a new game on klondike. It does not seem to
eever fail with another game sequence. Sometime it doesn't fail which I suspect
will make finding a solution difficult.

is there a way to try to debug this? I don't know much about debugging so any
help would be appreciated, I have the same home folder since 2-3 years now,
maybe this had something "weird" or it doesn't matter?

Or is it better to wait until maybe this will fix itself sometime in the

I agree, this is now fixed for me.

I did "sudo pkcon refresh" and it looked like a normal refresh. So far, so
good.
I did "sudo pkcon update" and I had a look at what it wanted to update. This
time, it didn't want to delete anything, just update a bunch of packages. So I
hit "Y" and let it run.
Then I rebooted. Everything looks fine now.

I don't think I'll blindly do "sudo pkcon refresh && sudo pkcon update -y" any
more, though. I'm going to pay attention to what pkcon has to tell me before I
let it proceed!

As far as I'm concerned, this bug can be closed.
Thanks to everyone who worked on this, and on ALL of KDE!

Git commit af31ce85801cff6b88c8670246185f7c29cc6e58 by Sharaf Zaman.
Committed on 18/03/2023 at 00:22.
Pushed by szaman into branch 'master'.

Touch System: Cursor stuck as hand

This happened when the Touch Drag was mapped to Pan Canvas, and user
pressed the shortcut for Canvas Pan action. The reason for this is,
first the keyboard shortcut would activate the KisPanAction, and then
the Touch Shortcut would activate the action again, without deactivating
it first. The reason it is necessary is because setOverrideCursor in
KisPanAction maintains an internal stack for overridden cursor, so if we
call setOverrideCursor() twice, we have to restoreCursor() *twice*.

[kate] [Bug 464562] KWrite resets the shown toolbars after restart

This has continued through Plasma 5.27.3, and I wanted to post a small update
for anyone else encountering this problem.

I've realized this issue happens on any logout, not just restart, the toolbar
and non-existent hamburger menu return, taking up space and requesting I
uncheck them on every kwrite window (and new ones).

But I also realized that you can right-click the toolbar area (anywhere at the
same horizontal as Settings) and get an uncheck menu for the toolbars. Which is
much faster than having to go to Settings -> Toolbars -> uncheck one, then
having the menu close and having to click on Settings -> Toolbars -> uncheck
the other (or remembering Alt+I+O+M then Alt+I+O+H).

2023-03-17 Thread Nicolai Weitkemper
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467509

Bug ID: 467509
Summary: Pager applet does not clamp when "current screen only"

Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.26.5
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Pager
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@nicoweio.33mail.com
CC: h...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 157378

observed result: the representation overflows

SUMMARY
(see title/attachment)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two (or more) screens arranged side-by-side.
2. Have a virtual desktop pager applet in a panel on the left screen.
3. In the pager's config, enable the “current screen only” option.
4. Open a window on the left screen and slowly move it towards the right
screen.

OBSERVED RESULT
Until the “center” of the window passes the screen border, its representation
in the pager overflows, interfering with the applets to its right.

EXPECTED RESULT
The representation should be clamped as it is when not using the “current
screen only” option.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Manjaro 22.0.4
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There is clamping logic present, but it doesn't seem to consider the
possibility that “current screen only” is set.

@aacid - The error Albert Debney gets is "Puzzle cannot be created: The file
you selected is not an image." and he asserts that it is a regular JPG file.
The lines of code from 103 to 130 in file
palapeli/src/creator/puzzlecreator.cpp are essentially unchanged since KDE4
days, except for the message types changing from Sorry to Error. They involve
the use of quite a bit of heavy KDE machinery and do not provide messages for
every possible failure. Could it be that the other Albert's installed versions
of Linux and KF/Qt simply fail to find or retrieve the file and then conclude
that it is "not an image" file?

It's probably about the attached image here in the bug report. It shows an
error message from libjasper. But I can't reproduce this problem. We initialize
libjasper4 correctly. I did a stress test with a set of Jpeg2000 images under
Windows10, no problems. It may be trying to load the "ICO" and "WAV" files from
the log with the KImageFormats plugins.

Hello, Jonathan Riddell

yesterday I managed to solve most of my problems by uninstalling several 32bit
packages (related to wine and lutris and some installed by Steam) and then
running again the sudo pkcon update

https://gist.github.com/luzfcb/5c323433b980d79aa1597f9bd32a0b2f

Today pkcon informs me that support for HP printers and other applications will
be removed so that it will be possible to downgrade some libraries

The fact is: I'm afraid if I run this, it will break even more, and I'll have
another round of crashing packets. Since this machine is also the machine I use
for work, I was wondering whether or not this downgrade is expected to occur
and if i can go ahead and update

You're on a Gnome OS, plus Wayland, so it won't work. The digiKam GUI would
have to scale strongly with a factor of 2. Works here under plasma with X
without any problems. As a test you can export a variable before you start
digiKam in the terminal:

export QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2.0

photo of PP when plasma-mobile does not start on kwin 5.27.2

SUMMARY
Hi and thank you for developing kwin!
On my OG PP with Mobian bookworm, plasma-mobile 5.27.2 is no more working since
kwin 5.27.2 hit the testing repo. Please note, plasma-mobile 5.27.2 was working
correctly on top of kwin 5.26.90 and downgrading kwin back to 5.26.90 reverts
back to a working state. Additionally, another Mobian user reported this on
Matrix on their Pinetab.

After logging in, a white rectangle in the top right corner appears on top of
black background. Nothing else happens, GUI never appears.
By comparing the journalctl log with a previous one, the following line seems
new
mar 12 21:10:59 mobian kwin_wayland_wrapper[977]: libkwinglutils: Shaders are
not supported

Furthermore, by git bisecting kwin, problems starts happening after commit
eef9bd5c [1].
Looks to me, that commit is identifying if some low-spec devices are present,
thus setting some flags to disable features which run smoothly on higher-spec
systems only. Driver for OG PP video rendering (Lima) is also mentioned in that
commit.

Just guessing, that commit is setting device as unable to do a bunch of things
(including shaders, as of error message), but it's failing to keep some other
part of kwin from triggering those things?

Is there a way to tell plasma-mobile to not use shaders, like [2] for blur?
That could be a temporary workaround

wayland: Truncate strings sent via plasmawindowmanager interface

Wayland has a limited size for strings in arguments. We should truncate
any strings that come from user-defined data before sending.

We keep the full title around within kwin as it keeps logic simpler.
Size length logic is lifted from QWaylandWindow's setTitle

The problem is with the isinf call. In this test case

#include

int main ()
{
  x = 1.0L / 0.0L;
  printf ("%d %La %d\n", !!isinf (x), x, 33);
  return 0;
}

we have two isinf calls:
1) in main,
2) inside glibc's fprintf routines, more exactly in
glibc/stdio-common/printf_fphex.c, macro PRINTF_FPHEX_FETCH, line 109.

Both return 1 when run natively, but 0 when run under valgrind.

[plasmashell] [Bug 467504] New: Desktop in linked filed to activity mode does not format the name of .desktop/.kdelnk files

2023-03-17 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467504

Bug ID: 467504
Summary: Desktop in linked filed to activity mode does not
format the name of .desktop/.kdelnk files
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.27.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Desktop Containment
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: ryu.ketsu...@outlook.com
CC: notm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

This behavior is very specific and it only happens if the plasmashell is set to
display the icons linked to the current activity instead of the desktop folder.

While the regular folderview will format the .desktop and .kdelnk files
normally to display the title defined in them, that doesn't happen if the shell
is displaying filed linked to the current activity, displaying instead the
unformatted file name and extension.

To reproduce this, go to the desktop settings, like when you go to set the
wallpaper, go to the Location tab on the left and select "Files linked to the
current activity" instead of "Desktop folder" then link a .desktop file to the
current activity through Dolphin.

Full-screen capture: The program window extends beyond the screen size, and the
maximize button disappears.

SUMMARY
***Dear Technical Support,

I am writing to report an issue with the kdenlive program that I have installed
on my Linux Mint operating system. Every time I open the program, the window
size exceeds the dimensions of my screen, making it impossible to resize or
maximize the window. This issue persists even when I try to put the program
into full-screen mode, as the maximize button disappears.

As a result, I have to manually reset the configuration every time I open the
program by going to Help > Reset Configuration, which is becoming increasingly
inconvenient.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? I appreciate any help or
advice you can offer.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kdenlive program on Linux Mint operating system
2. Attempt to maximize or resize the window
3. Try to put the program into full-screen mode

OBSERVED RESULT
The window size exceeds the dimensions of the screen and the maximize button
disappears, making it impossible to resize or maximize the window. Even when
attempting to put the program into full-screen mode, the issue persists.

EXPECTED RESULT
The program window should fit within the dimensions of the screen and should be
resizable or maximizable. When entering full-screen mode, the maximize button
should remain visible and functional.

I noticed this happened again this morning because my Firefox windows had
shuffled a little from where I'd re-arranged some of them.

I'm not sure if KDE has internal window IDs that are different but:

xwininfo -tree -root | sed -e 's/failure in conversion from UTF8_STRING to

Yields a lot of containing box 'windows' for my dual monitor setup.

[Breeze] [Bug 467500] New: Configuration for optional window outline

Classification: Plasma
   Product: Breeze

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Priority: NOR
 Component: window decoration
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: hugor...@gmail.com
CC: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org, uhh...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

It would be nice to have an option to make the new window outline optional. It
is a nice feature for some use cases (e.g., dark themes), but there are other
scenarios in which it creates visual noise (e.g., light themes with only a few
dark windows, such as konsole).

Also, it is kind of confusing with the general option "Window border size" =
"No borders" within "Window Decorations". I know technically this new feature
is not a border but an outline of another element, but the problem is most
users don't understand the difference.

Git commit d2a84a92ca563b94fdfbea9d8edb8eb5955bccf0 by Fushan Wen, on behalf of
Luca Bacci.
Committed on 17/03/2023 at 17:04.
Pushed by fusionfuture into branch 'Plasma/5.27'.

Beside monitor scaling factors, a user may specify a preferred
text DPI size from the system configuration utility (KCM fonts)
That setting is stored inside the kcmfonts configuration file;
one entry is kept for Plasma/X11 sessions, "forceFontDPI", and
another for Plasma/Wayland sessions, "forceFontDPIWayland".

Here we make kde-gtk-config read such entries (depending on the
Plasma session type) and then set the GTK text scaling settings
accordingly.

Seems like the issue is at the UI layer and toggling the "Show virtual devices"
checkbox simply isn't calling the right method to properly trigger the settings
change. Every time I toggle the setting I get this error message in journalctl:

> plasmashell[200793]: QMetaObject::invokeMethod: No such method
> QQuickItem_QML_717::actionTriggered(QVariant)

@Gordan Vrbanec
Workaround still seems to work for me. I had to restart plasmashell after the
config change and now I see my HRTF 7.1 surround sink.

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 5.25.5 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from
KDE; supported versions are 5.27, and 5.27 or newer. Please upgrade to a
supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you.
Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the
next one.

If you need support for Plasma 5.25.5, please contact your distribution, who
bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no
longer supported by KDE.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel
free to re-open this bug report.

Git commit 0be551c6bf565a939e179e7b0533dfb165167120 by David Edmundson.
Committed on 17/03/2023 at 16:18.
Pushed by davidedmundson into branch 'Plasma/5.27'.

Simplify tile dismissal

We want floating tiles to be activatable, but also dismiss the effect by
clicking on the whitespace.

The current solution doesn't work as a floating tile that is in turn
split will pull focus from the children meaning those tiles can't be deleted.

Rather than special casing and z-manipulation we can simplify everything
by moving tile dismissal to the root of the effect and appropariately
propagating the event.

Git commit 1b66b4b5fd6ccc8b5b938fcaaed78639360dfc47 by Fushan Wen, on behalf of
Luca Bacci.
Committed on 17/03/2023 at 16:51.
Pushed by fusionfuture into branch 'master'.

Beside monitor scaling factors, a user may specify a preferred
text DPI size from the system configuration utility (KCM fonts)
That setting is stored inside the kcmfonts configuration file;
one entry is kept for Plasma/X11 sessions, "forceFontDPI", and
another for Plasma/Wayland sessions, "forceFontDPIWayland".

Here we make kde-gtk-config read such entries (depending on the
Plasma session type) and then set the GTK text scaling settings
accordingly.

I can't see who deletes:

```
icons[i].data = new unsigned char[size];
```

The array is cleaned up, but our array contains malloc'ed data.
It's cleaned up if we readIcons multiple times, but not in the NetWinInfo
destructor

[digikam] [Bug 467496] Various crashes on Windows

2023-03-17 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467496

I did an experiment.
I replaced libaom.dll - I took file from msys2 project and AVIF files crashing
previously started to work.

MSYS2 builds 3.6.0 version, I think digiKam has v3.5.0.
Can you try to upgrade libaom?

It doesn't persist but it's only meant to be a temporary thing whilst you
record a video or do a presentation.

Can you expand more on your use case?
