Hi Nicofo,

Renaming a file is not seen as a new picture, as the contents still the same.
Remember that the registration in database to identify a (new) file is based on
a checksum of the first 100 bytes of file. If the file is just renamed and have
been registered previously in the database, the algorithm will re-detect the
previous file as well. It's not a new one.

Also, remember that the digiKam settings has an option to monitor external
changes from collection contents:

https://docs.digikam.org/en/setup_application/collections_settings.html

I have also noticed this bug recently. Not sure whether this is a recent
regression or I grew to use split views more extensively. This bug could be
related to Bug 377742. Maybe we should make the central find view bar location
optional as requested in the other bug. Or perhaps this bug can be fixed in the
central-location code, if the feature is to blame.

Oh! I see now. In my localized version of KDE, "compositing" is translated as

know the algorithms of effects, but should be able to disable them in those

[kde] [Bug 468744] New: Monitor show "No signal" in SDDM and KDE

2023-04-20 Thread Alexander Dyadyun
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468744

Bug ID: 468744
Summary: Monitor show "No signal" in SDDM and KDE
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: zlobniyshu...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Description of problem:
I have system with two monitors:
Main monitor - AOC275QXL (HDMI 2560x1440 FreeSync)
Auxiliary monitor - Nec2090 (DVI-D 1600x1200)
Video HD4550 (HDMI+DVI-D)
Just before start SDDM my AOC275QXL show "No signal".

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Power on system - picture on both monitors
2. Select fedora in grub - picture on both monitors
3. View boot logs (rhgb disabled) - picture on both monitors
4. Start SDDM - picture only on auxiliary monitor

Actual results:
"No signal" on main monitor after SDDM start. In KDE for X11 and Wayland modes
main monitor show "No signal".

Expected results:
Both monitors can show picture in SDDM & KDE

Additional info:
In "KDE monitor settings" I can see both monitors. I can change resolution for
main monitor, turn on/off "Main monitor switch", enable/disable monitor - no
visual changes on main monitor (still "No signal").

Start system only on main monitor got same effect - "No signal" after SDDM
start

This configuration normally worked before on F37. During F38 install (from
scratch) installer worked on main monitor without problems.

With x11 enabled in SDDM I have both monitors working.
Than, if I load KDE in x11 mode, both monitors working too!

But if I load KDE in wayland mode, my main monitor show "No signal".
Re-enter in KDE after that in x11 mode did not help. Only system reboot enable
main monitor again.

Initial bug report was in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2187036

Hi Paul,

First, the Spell Checker in digiKam as nothing to do with KDE settings.
Application has a dedicated setting usable everywhere, not only under
Linux/KDE. Remember that digiKam run on Mac and Windows.

Second, look well in the config panel, it's explained :

"Turn on this option to activate the background spellcheck feature on captions,
titles, and other text-edit widgets. Spellcheck is able to auto-detect the
current language used in text and will propose alternative with miss-spelled
words."

In other word, the text is parsed and language auto-detected. If relevant
dictionary is installed, spellcheck will be processed.

Remember also that all text enter in digiKam GUI use the Alternative Language
feature. It's different than a simple text editor as Kate, where the language
for the string as a properties to specify the langue used for the text. This
property is used first to choose the right dictionary (for ex FR-fr) or the
auto-detection is processed if the default alternative language is selected
(x-default) .

So you don't need the default language in the settings, as all is
automatized... Only the dictionaries must be installed to be sure that langauge
is detected and spell checking processed.

[kwin] [Bug 468742] New: Cursor vertically splitfies when moving between monitors at random times

2023-04-20 Thread Reg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468742

Bug ID: 468742
Summary: Cursor vertically splitfies when moving between
monitors at random times
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.27.4
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: nybbles2by...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When moving between monitors sometimes the cursor just splits into a bunch of
vertical bars. I'll attach an image so you can see how it looks. The cursor in
the image is just over a normal terminal window but where it would normally a
simple arrow you will see it's, well, something else.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I wish I could give exact steps to reproduce but it happens very randomly when
moving the cursor between monitors.

The only thing I have notice that is consistent is that it doesn't seem to
happen if moving the cursor across monitors slowly. It's usually a little
faster than average than seems to do it.

OBSERVED RESULT
It only takes its weird form while on that monitor where it went weird. That
is, if I move it back to another monitor the cursor goes back to normal. Then,
move it back the monitor it went weird on and it will be weird again. That is,
once it happened it will remain that way but only on the monitor it went weird
on.

However, it can be easily reset. Usually by doing something that holds the
cursor in a different shape, like dragging a window, and while doing that move
the cursor from a good window to the one it went weird on and once something
like that has fixed it then it's fine until it randomly goes weird again.

BTW, this has been happening for a couple of years at least it's just that it
was such a minor thing that I never got around to reporting it.

EXPECTED RESULT
Not to happen.

In my case (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468733) the problem is the
vertical panel moves the icons many columns randomly.
Original icons: https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=158244

Is it the same problem?

Since Spectacle 23.04, Kpipewire is a required dependency.

Would it be possible to turn Kpipewire into a optional dependency instead? I
ask it because I don't use Pipewire and I don't need this feature in Spectacle.

Thanks!

think it's risky?

I'm afraid Plasma 5.25 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support or
maintenance. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often
fixed in the next one. Please update to Plasma 5.27 as soon as your distro
offers it to you--in this case, by upgrading to Kubuntu 23.04. If you need
support for Plasma 5.25 with your current version of your distro, please
contact your distro, who bears the responsibility of providing support for
older non-LTS releases.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to Plasma 5.27, feel free to
re-open this bug report.

Thanks for understanding!

Indeed. What's supposed to happen is
- KWin gets notified by logind that the session is no longer active, pausing
everything it does until it gets notified the session is active again (see
DrmBackend::activate for what this does specifically)
- KWin gets EACCESS from the drm driver, so that it knows it can't submit
frames anymore (instead of only EINVAL, which almost always means KWin did
something wrong)

It seems like neither is happening for you when you switch the VT

[krita] [Bug 468736] New: Can't remap functionality for - and = keys, stuck on zoom

2023-04-20 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468736

Bug ID: 468736
Summary: Can't remap functionality for - and = keys, stuck on
zoom
Classification: Applications
   Product: krita
   Version: 5.1.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Usability
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: gerbilch...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 158250
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=158250=edit
A copy of my keyboard shortcut settings for review.

Krita is allowing me to remap the - and = keys on my keyboard (no shift
pressed), but when pressed, they zoom out and zoom in respectively.
Additionally, I've tried remapping Zoom to other keys, and it doesn't seem to
make a difference. The - and = keys are stuck as zoom no matter what.

I've attached a copy of my keyboard shortcuts.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Remap any functionality to the - and = keys.

OBSERVED RESULT
pressing - zooms out
pressing = zooms in

EXPECTED RESULT
- and = are bound to whatever function they were set as
Alternatively, if these keys are hard coded to have specific functionality,
disallow choosing them as a custom remap option.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.2.11 Arch Linux
Qt Version: 5.19.9

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Remapping the Zoom In / Zoom Out action to other keys doesn't seem to make a
difference in them always being stuck on - and =. This has been occurring for a
long time in both Linux and Windows, tested across multiple computers.

I had a Windows 10 VM image just in case. It had no Digikam version installed.
I did the following:

1) Install Digikam 7.10.0
2) Install Digikam 8.0.0

Result: A Digikam 7.10.0 folder (instead of 8.0.0) was created in the Start

[Powerdevil] [Bug 434432] battery time estimate totally wrong

2023-04-20 Thread Stefan Brüns
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434432

Git commit e6fdb5b169f3da6f08c89ee1a425f1f00ce902b7 by Stefan Brüns.
Committed on 20/04/2023 at 22:43.
Pushed by bruns into branch 'master'.

Fix and consolidate discharge rate and remaining time calculation

This fixes several issues in the current code:
1. Instead of averaging the remaining time it averages the discharge rate,
and uses the rate and remaining energy to calculate the time.
2. It gets rid of the history array, an autoregressive filter only needs
one history value, no point recalculating it again and again.
3. It keeps the averaged discharge rate over plug/unplug events. This
reduces the error after replugging, as the first few reported rate
values are often too small, while there is no intrinsic reason the
   old rate estimate becomes invalid.
4. It brings the legacy remaining time calculation in line with the one
based on the DisplayDevice UPower object, i.e. always uses rate and
remaining energy to full/empty to calculate the time.

[kile] [Bug 468735] New: Kile: the Scanning project files dialog blocks the application

2023-04-20 Thread Eugene Shalygin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468735

Bug ID: 468735
Summary: Kile: the Scanning project files dialog blocks the
application
Classification: Applications
   Product: kile
   Version: master
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: user interface
  Assignee: michel.lud...@gmail.com
  Reporter: eugene.shalygin+bugzilla@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The Scanning project files dialog blocks interaction with the application
completely, and at certain conditions the dialog does not go away.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set Kile options to reopen last projects on start up.
2. Remove/rename one of the project files.
3. Launch Kile.

OBSERVED RESULT
The application asks what to do with the removed project, but interaction with
that dialog is impossible because everything is blocked by the Scanning project
files dialog. Even if you are quick enough to choose and option before the
scanning progress dialog appears, the progress dialog stays open forever,
blocking any UI interaction with the main Kile window.

EXPECTED RESULT
Errors when loading projects closes the progress dialog.

Ouch, that gif looks scary. I set it to "major" since it's a dataloss.

Can you please share the content of Help -> Show Krita log for bug reports?
Hopefully there is some more information about it. (I personally couldn't
reproduce it).

Fix compositions to take into account masks visibility

Before this commit, masks visibility wasn't taken into account
in Compositions. This commit ensures it is.

Git commit 1e6b3e9b768d27d276be4447b67070f9effe5802 by Agata Cacko.
Committed on 20/04/2023 at 19:54.
Pushed by tymond into branch 'master'.

Fix height and width mixed up in color history

Before this commit, adjusting Height would adjust the width
of the color swatch, and adjusting the Width would adjust the height
of it.
Since it only changes the text on screen (other than that, the code
is consistent), it won't change the look of color selector
for anyone who already adjusted it to their liking.
