[plasmashell] [Bug 457370] KDE Plasma typically immediately halts from medium-to-high workloads
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457370 --- Comment #12 from David Chmelik --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #11) > Thanks. So when you remove the Task Manager widget from your panel (not > permanently; just temporarily for testing purposes), the problem stops > happening? I'm happy to report (also with unplugging of two screens for this test) it does (at least 18/20 launched at once, but I think something over 10 or at most 15 is close enough to the medium-to-large quite resource-intensive workload) so this is likely a duplicate of a specific bug report for the task manager (classic including text) in the panel I reported or commented on but hadn't heard any update on lately, Two that didn't launch were discord (needed update, but not resource-intensive) and pan 2 NNTP newsreader which was one that does some of the most updates in task manager, but so do the filesharing, and they all launched, and I launched another resource-hungry web browser in short time, and three my web browsers currently have something from maybe 20+ to 70+ tabs so would've been more updates than usual, and hexchat has close to 150 channels now so also would've been many updates, so I think it's safe to say this is a task manager problem. In this test, the almost 10 programs that minimized to the panel, and task switching with was all super-fast like KDE3 and like newer when I didn't open as much too fast nor had as many task manager updates. I would close this but don't know which other bug it is which should probably be marked duplicate. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Just having another application open and focused and then clicking on Bookmarks is enough to trigger the bug. This seems to only happen with this specific menu. Given https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Wayland_Porting_Notes#Popup_Menus it might be worth checking how the parent is being set for the bookmark menu specifically? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 469124] New: Allow Digikam to to use separate databases for local and remote collections
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469124 Bug ID: 469124 Summary: Allow Digikam to to use separate databases for local and remote collections Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: 8.1.0 Platform: Other OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Database-Multiusers Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: michael2macdon...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When using a remote database (such as on a NAS for multiple users) it is impossible to use Digikam when you are no longer on the same network as the remote database. You can get around this issue with a VPN, but the slow connection causes Digikam to be so slow it is very difficult or impossible to be productive, even when only working with local files. In cases where you have no internet connection, such as on a plane, it is impossible to even start Digikam. Digikam should use a separate database for local and remote collections so that local collections can be used without a connection to the remote database. This would also greatly speed up local file operations when using a slow connection (such as a VPN) and possibly reduce the load on the network and remote database which could speed up remote database operations in some circumstances. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This could be implemented in two different ways. While I would like local and remote collections to use separate databases but be accessible at the same time, I realize that this could be a very challenging and difficult feature to implement. Because of this, I suggest an alternative solution where the user can select which database to use during boot. This could allow the user to use each database/collection separately and possibly open two instances of Digikam; one for local files and one for remote files. In this case, an option to migrate a single image or selection of images from one of the databases to the other could add additional functionality to the simpler option without being over-complicated. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This bug still exists. There is no way to merge two digikam databases. This use is even more important now that remote databases and root paths are supported because it increases the likelihood that someone would be in a situation where they need to merge multiple databases (Such as merging the databases from two computers [like a laptop and desktop] into a new central server or NAS). I am changing the platform to "undefined" and "All" as this is a universal bug in digikam, and updating it to the latest version of digikam it is present in (0.8.2 -> 8.1.0). Also, maybe we should change the component from "Maintenance-Database" to "Database-Migration" as I think it would fit better there. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Just immensely irritating that the icons keep shuffling! When they're along the top of the screen they become really easy to accidentally click on when intending to tap a minimised window on the main panel too. [digikam] [Bug 469117] No explanation for folder aware or random aware options in the Advanced Renaming tool documentation
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469117 --- Comment #3 from michael2macdon...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Maik Qualmann from comment #2) > I assume you don't mean Folder aware numbering, but Counter aware numbering. > Counter aware numbering searches for the highest used counter in the > filename in the image's directory and continues it. > > Maik Thank you, I did mean counter-aware numbering. Random aware numbering is pretty self-explanatory, but my main issue is that counter-aware numbering is unclear and I could not find any explanation on how it works. It would be great if you could add that exact explanation to the docs: "Counter aware numbering searches for the highest used counter in the filename in the image's directory and continues it." -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 469114] Add Advanced Rename Templates
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469114 --- Comment #2 from michael2macdon...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Maik Qualmann from comment #1) > In the multiple file renaming mode, a history is created (combo box). That > is not enough? > > Maik While I don't know the exact behavior of the history, I have some concerns with using it. First, input history is generally not permanent. Whether it gets overwritten over time or gets lost after an update/reinstall/etc, I would prefer that my renaming rules were saved in a more deliberate and safe location so that I know that as long my config folder and database are backed up, I won't have to rewrite my rules or find that random file I manually backed them up to. I don't know where the history is stored or how the application treats that location in terms of importance (for example, is it stored in the .cache directory or the safer .config directory?). I also don't know if the history with my workflow rules will be overwritten if I use the renaming tool more than "X" times with different one-off renaming rules. Is there a history limit??? This brings me to my second concern. If the history limit is large or non-existent, my workflow rules will be difficult to find in the large history unless I only ever use my main workflow rules. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 469120] New: Advanced Renaming: "Sequence Number" options can not be stacked/combined
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469120 Bug ID: 469120 Summary: Advanced Renaming: "Sequence Number" options can not be stacked/combined Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: 8.1.0 Platform: unspecified OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: AdvancedRename-engine Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: michael2macdon...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When adding a "Sequence Number" to an advanced renaming rule you can add four options: "[c]" = file counter aware, "[e]" = extension aware, "[f]" = folder aware, or "[r]" = random aware. When you apply more than one option (ex: "[cef]"), it only applies ONE of the multiple provided options by applying the first option to appear in the order "r > c > f > e". This behavior goes against what both the Digikam application and documentation say. The digikam documentation states "...digiKam will start a new sequence for every file extension and / or folder.", implying that these options can be combined ("AND / or"). Furthermore, the "Information" dialog in the Advanced Renaming tools lists the sequence number command syntax as " #[options]" (plural), again implying that more than one option can be used. Finally, the renaming rule text highlighting suggests that using two or more options is correct/valid. When adding options to the sequence in the text box, the text will change to red if it detects a sequence with the correct syntax. The sequence will be detected when using one OR MORE valid options (as long as they are in the same order as listed in the info dialog [c,e,f,r]). For example STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use the Advanced Renaming tool (either alone or part of another tool such as batch queue or import photos) 2. Add a sequence to the renaming rule (ex: "") 3. Add more than one option to the sequence (ex: "[cer]") OBSERVED RESULT The sequence only applies ONE of the multiple provided options by applying the first option to appear in the order "r > c > f > e". EXPECTED RESULT - Multiple options should be able to be combined and used together when generating a number sequence. - Options should be able to be applied in any order (Ex: "cef", "efc", "fce", ...). - The only restriction should be that the "Random Aware" (r) option is only valid if used alone or with the "Extention Aware" (e) option and no others, in which images with the same name but different file extensions should have the same random number sequence. If the "r" option is used in combination with an option other than "e", the syntax should be invalid (which will signal this restriction to the user) rather than silently ignoring the other options. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 469116] Cant launch through Steam but the .sh and .appimage work in steamapps folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469116 --- Comment #2 from Emmet O'Neill --- Ok, so yeah. I've been able to confirm that this seems to be a problem that is relegated to Flatpak Steam installs. As you rightly pointed out, both the 'launch.sh' script and the AppImage itself run without issue. On top of that, I've installed the .deb version of Steam and Krita runs there without issue as well. So, it appears that mounting an appimage while Steam is contained in a flatpak is either broken or impossible right now... We might have to change our approach to distributing Linux binaries through Steam. The best workaround we have right now is to simply run the AppImage itself. Creating a .desktop file, symlinking it elsewhere, or adding it to your PATH may make that less of a hassle. (Also, if you have recently bought Krita on Steam and are disappointed that this bug has nullified the convenience of doing so... First, I'm sorry about that, and second, consider asking for a refund through Steam.) Anyway, sorry again for the nasty bug, and thanks a ton for letting us know and supporting the project in general. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
