[plasmashell] [Bug 471990] New: Plasma crash after Steam application error and crash

2023-07-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471990

Summary: Plasma crash after Steam application error and crash
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.27.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: arvow...@gmail.com
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.27.5)

Qt Version: 5.15.8
Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Operating System: Linux 6.1.0-9-amd64 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: SparkyLinux 7.0 (Orion-Belt)
DrKonqi: 5.27.5 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
I was playing a game through steam using proton, wine and lutris to handle the
windows game libraries and the game crashed after using my KVM hardware switch
to move my monitors, mouse and keyboard back to my linux pc. I very often have
to use a script I found on a forum to restart the plasma desktop after it
crashes while switching back and forth with the kvm hardware switch. This time
it was a combination of kvm hardware switch usage and a steam game crashing
that caused this error.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

[kwin] [Bug 465433] Fractional scale under wayland still not perfect sharp

2023-07-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465433

>> Just to confirm the middle one we're saying is fine?
Yes, right. It is better to download the image and view it in gwenview, for
example. The left one is more "hairy", visible effect of scaling.

I tested Qt 6.5 on Arch Linux some time ago, and although I don't recall the
exact details, I do remember that the rendering was fine. I believe I made
adjustments to these environment variables during my testing:

#QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=1
#QT_SCALE_FACTOR_ROUNDING_POLICY=PassThrough

So, cross the fingers for the plasma 6 :)

Also, invalid qscreen scaling can broke some apps, that rely on it. For
example, some apps can get scaling settings when the window has been not yet
created and pass it to some part of code that can't dynamically change the
scaling factor. I hope we would't see that apps, but who knows. As example I
can provide some android emulators, based on containers, like anbox or
waydroid. Anbox session starts android in background, passing scale factor to
the container and doesn't have technical capabilities to change the scale when
user open a window. If I understand correctly, we can't get current display
fractional scale factor until we doesn't have a window with attached scale
factor protocol. It is not only qt-related, it's true for all wayland apps. Do
we currently have the capability or are there any existing plans to get a
selected display scale factor with floating-point accuracy?

A variation of the information provided already and a way to reliably reproduce
the crash condition follows:
1) Using an Icons-only widget on a desktop panel (which may or may not be a
required condition), run multiple instances of an app, e.g. Dolphin.
2) Hover over the icon shown on the Icons-only widget such that multiple
mini-instances of the application appear
3) Move the mouse cursor over the [x] of one of the instance's (I always chose
the instance to the right rather than to the left)
4) Simultaneously click both the left and the right mouse buttons over the [x],
et voila! Crash.

[systemsettings] [Bug 470629] Unable to configure "ContentType" drm property

2023-07-05 Thread Zamundaaa
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470629

Support for content type (both app -> compositor and compositor -> display) has
been implemented in 5.27. There is no reasoning behind it except for what I
already told you.

> Is there a known list of apps which change the content type on their own?

I know mpv supports the protocol, and Chromium developers have expressed
interest early on too, but there is no list.

> Not every user might want the TV to automatically switch from one mode to
> another mode just because an app decides to do so. Whereas some users might
> be fine with that. As such, adding a drop-down, which allows users to set the
> content type, would be preferable.

I don't think it's preferable, as every low level option that we add requires
maintenance and adds to the confusion of users looking at the display settings.
The current options in there are justified because they're necessary to make
broken or imperfect displays work properly (adaptive sync wouldn't be a setting
if it didn't cause flicker on some displays, and overscan and rgb range are
historical problems that should've never existed), but content type is a very
different thing from those.

I'm open to adjust the current behavior to improve the user experience, and if
using the content type from fullscreen apps actually causes problems then
changing that or adding an option for it can be discussed, but I'd like to
avoid adding an option if it's not really necessary.

Hi Dimitry, unfortunately, I was only able to reproduce this particular crash

[dolphin] [Bug 471985] New: Dolphin crashed while copying a 100GB file to a Samba share

2023-07-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471985

Bug ID: 471985
Summary: Dolphin crashed while copying a 100GB file to a Samba
share
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.04.2
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: krob...@o-0.pl
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: dolphin (23.04.2)

Qt Version: 5.15.10
Frameworks Version: 5.107.0
Operating System: Linux 5.19.0-46-generic x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: KDE neon 5.27
DrKonqi: 5.27.6 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
I opened a samba share with url: `smb://domain`. I pasted 3 files in total,
200MB, 100GB and 100GB. All of them existed in the target directory. Dolphin
asked me if i want to overwrite, I approved that for first file, then 2nd. Then
I left it in background, because over a network it was calculated to take many
minutes (45 min in total if I'm not mistaken). Copying was going smoothly,
keeping stable 600Mbps. After ~20 minutes Dolphin crashed.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 448926] Cannot move root owned files to trash

2023-07-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448926

Hey. Sorry. I completely missed Ahmad's comment here and I only found this
again because I was going through my reported bugs. I don't remember why when I
reported this I was able to select 'Move to trash' for a file in a root-owned
folder. Now I have a new fresh install of Neon User Edition 5.27.6 and, as
expected, the option is grayed out on the context menu for files inside a root
folder. However, the context menu still shows 'Move to trash' for root-owned
folders in my home directory, so that's not fixed. I also cannot shift-delete
as I said I could in the original post.

It's obvious that Dolphin shouldn't be able to delete root-owned folders
without a password. What is buggy here is the fact the option to move the
folder to the trash is not grayed out as it is everywhere else.

This bug only seems to apply to a root folder in the home directory. System
folders in / have the option to move to the trash grayed out as expected, and
files and other folders inside that problematic folder also have the delete
options grayed out.

I'll write detailed instructions:

1. Open a terminal in your >home< (very important!) directory
2. Type sudo mkdir ./myfolder
3. Go to Dolphin or Konqueror and right-click the folder

Result: The option 'Move to trash' is available.

If I try to move the folder to the trash, it says: Access denied to
/home/guilherme/.local/share/Trash/files/myfolder

As Ahmad asked, ls -ld /home/guilherme/.local/share/Trash/files/myfolder shows
:

ls: cannot access '/home/guilherme/.local/share/Trash/files/myfolder': No such
file or directory

As expected, the folder doesn't exist because it wasn't moved to the trash due
to the lack of permissions. The folder I'm trying to delete does exist though:
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 jul 5 19:55 /home/guilherme/myfolder

Between our Macs (some unable to export, some able) the camera models are all
the same. To be clear, the photos all export and contain all their metadata
except for the Tag info. I am trying to figure out how to salvage the issue by
identifying under what metadata field DigiKam is storing Tag data and figuring
out how to copy that information to a new metadata field.

This problem started for me at the same time this issue was created, I'm on
OpenSuse Tumbleweed with Nvidia proprietary drivers and X11.

I have noticed something interesting, when you press multiple time the volume
up button at some point the GUI show up.

It appear that when you increase the volume and it reach 100% the GUI appear
and the volume goes to what the GUI shows,
the same goes in the other way when you decrease the volume and it reach 0% the
next volume down will make the GUI appear and the "real" volume will be set to
what is displayed.

Also when the volume is muted ( GUI show it muted ) and you press multiple time
the volume up button you will have no sound until you reach 100%,
only then the GUI will show up and the sound will come back but it will display
5% while the "real" volume will be at 100%.

[digikam] [Bug 471644] digiKam: some Mac computers are unable to export any Tag data (under TagList column for Exif).

Apologies, the message is just what we see in R in the exif metadata after we
try to export the photos and read their metadata. Digikam does not generate
this message. Within Digikam tags are functioning normally, but the information
is not being exported.

[konsole] [Bug 471984] New: Broken drag and drop of selectable text within konsole

2023-07-05 Thread René
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471984

Bug ID: 471984
Summary: Broken drag and drop of selectable text within konsole
Classification: Applications
   Product: konsole
   Version: 22.12.3
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: copy-paste
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: r...@comunica2.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Like in previous versions I try to select text then (ctrl+) drag and drop it on
the command prompt, to save me typing paths or filenames. No longer works.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select text with the mouse pointer,
2. Ctrl+drag the selected text down or anywhere
3. Drop the text

OBSERVED RESULT
No drag nor drop takes place

EXPECTED RESULT
The dragged text is pasted / copied to the cursor location on command prompt.
This worked in previous versions I used (functionality regression).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux : Debian GNU/Linux 12
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Graphics Platform: Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work around is doing ctrl+c and ctrl+v but that unnecessarily "contaminates"
the clipboard.

I think this issue can be closed. Because the upload of kimageformat-plugins
(5.107.0-2) in debian unstable fixes that little problem.
