[plasmashell] [Bug 473098] Panel popup prefers opening on secondary screen when opening on the expected screen would cause it to overlap a secondary panel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473098 --- Comment #3 from Sebastian Turzański --- Hi Are you sure about that? When I have a single (horizontal) display the top panel is covered by menu with no issue so why does connecting a second display on the left trigger panel avoiding? [krita] [Bug 473468] New: Layer's stroke effect appearing in wrong animation frames.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473468 Bug ID: 473468 Summary: Layer's stroke effect appearing in wrong animation frames. Classification: Applications Product: krita Version: unspecified Platform: Microsoft Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Animation Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: a...@mail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When a layer contains a few animation frames and a Stroke effect (and perhaps this might happen with other effects as well), playing the animation and then stopping it will often result in the stroke effect from another frame appearing in the frame it stopped on. Scrubbing through frames will usually correct it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a multi-frame animation on a layer, add a Stroke effect 2. Press the Play button on the timeline 3. Press the Stop button on the timeline OBSERVED RESULT On occasion the stroke effect from another frame will appear in the frame it is currently showing. ***NOTE: This MAY technically be a case where Krita is incorrectly overlapping the frames from 2 layers (one Stroked, the other not).*** EXPECTED RESULT Stroke or stroked layer frame should match the frame number it belongs on. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10 macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The animations where I have observed this use several layers, each dedicated to a different element of the image (linework, color, shadow, and most relevantly, a stroked white silhouette to thicken the contour of the animating object). Is Krita perhaps aligning things layer-by-layer as it plays, only to get its display instructions abruptly stopped, thus misaligning one of the layers? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

You can bring up the tray version with the same shortcut, whose keyboard navigation is essentially the same but the delete key works as desired thanks to the change in the previous bug. It also shows as one contiguous list unlike the contextual one that requires you to select the `...` dummy item to see the next page of items. Even entering such leads to they OpenSuse OS constantly cycling my connection on and off, requiring those credentials every time this happens, over a period of up to 40 minutes at a time, before accepting and updating connections with my wireless network properly. On occasion, this fails entirely, and I have to either reboot my machine, or shut it down for an hour before logging back in. Such is what I was doing this time (re-entering network credentials) when I became irate, and began clicking the checkmark for the wireless interface on and off rapidly. This led to a large volume of notifications, primarily noting failures at state changes in the interface, and ultimately a crash of part of the Plasma desktop (in my case the taskbar at the bottom). This network failure has led to update failures, which trying to resolve has crashed Plasma before (though I previously left this un-reported). It has led to forced logouts, requiring me to re-issue my desktop login credentials, and it has crashed my system, forcing OpenSuse to restart entirely at least 3 times since my system install a few months ago. It seems to affect Plasma desktop interfaces, and then filter into other functions from there. This issue occurs with regularity ( 3 to 5 times daily ), although this is the first time it triggered a crash report generator. The crash can be reproduced sometimes. -- Backtrace: Application: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault PID: 1455 (plasmashell) UID: 1000 (AnOldMan) GID: 1000 (AnOldMan) Signal: 11 (SEGV) Timestamp: Wed 2023-08-16 20:24:48 MDT (53s ago) Command Line: /usr/bin/plasmashell --no-respawn Executable: /usr/bin/plasmashell Control Group: /user.slice/user-1000.slice/user@1000.service/session.slice/plasma-plasmashell.service Unit: user@1000.service User Unit: plasma-plasmashell.service Slice: user-1000.slice Owner UID: 1000 (AnOldMan) Boot ID: 83c4084afa46a5d5c4dab31e8d29 Machine ID: f2285fbd06d84d8781361ef78b88777a Hostname: localhost.localdomain Storage: /var/lib/systemd/coredump/core.plasmashell.1000.83c4084afa46a5d5c4dab31e8d29.1455.169223908800.zst (present) Size on Disk: 24.6M Message: Process 1455 (plasmashell) of user 1000 dumped core. [kwin] [Bug 471517] Whole-screen diagonal-stripes glitch on external display with hybrid graphics
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471517 --- Comment #19 from Stefan Springer --- (In reply to Zamundaaa from comment #18) > Did you actually revert the commit and test that, and what's your second > GPU? Because if you do have mismatching stride, then your output would've > been completely unusable before the commit. And if you don't, then the > commit doesn't change anything. Long story short: I can now say with certainty that my specific issue is not KDE related. Sorry for making such a fuzz! So after reverting the patch, things seemed fine for two days and a reboot, but then the issue got triggered again out of seemingly nowhere. Following some more digging around, and even trying an old 5.19 LTS kernel, I decided to create a new, blank user account to see if it also exhibits the issue. Surprisingly, it wasn't present on a fresh acc. with default settings. I step-wise reconstructed the settings of my main account to see if it reoccurred. The trigger was touching mclk_od on 6800XT (and probably also RX 470 when thinking about the weird behavior on my other PC; for some reason [HBM?] Vega 56 is fine), even if it's just a change of 5Mhz up or down, it will reliably trigger the problem. I manually played around with the pp_od_clk_voltage sysfs interface to confirm this, and ultimately disabled the part of my OC script that adjusts mclk; now everything works. Multiple reboots, logging off and on again, the gsync pendulum at any arbitrary refresh rate, etc… I was using a dual-monitor 144Hz config before, then, after moving, single monitor with 144Hz over HDMI because I grabbed the wrong cable, and only when I finally got around to getting a DP cable (3 in fact, since it looked like I got two defective ones at first), which allowed me to drive my monitor at 165Hz (still single-monitor use now), the issue was unmasked. That's what originally had me sifting through a month worth of system updates and commits. Currently, when looking at the AMDGPU issue tracker, there is fundamental restructuring going on in DC (Display Core) code, with issues around mclk handling being present (It actually broke badly in Kernel 6.4, such that desktop RDNA2 simply won't increase mclk at all, for some OOTB, for others with specific monitors/resolutions/refresh rates and for others once touching mclk_od), aswell as problems with calculating the required bandwidth for a given monitor config (res, hz, multi-display, VRR), so this seems related to that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Google maps API is free, for (if I remember correctly) 2.500 lookups per day. Just log in with your google account, click on create API key, and done. Easy for all users that want to use google maps. No, just let the users that want to use google maps in Digikam enter their google maps api key. Takes 2 minutes. Yeah, ok, it's an extra step that users would have to take. [Breeze] [Bug 403833] Icon request: symbolic variants of the weather icons
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403833 --- Comment #6 from Nate Graham --- We have the ability to do this for Plasma 6 now. What we need are versions of the existing icons that are symbolic and have "-symbolic" appended to their names. Thanks to the commit mentioned in the comment above this one, once these icons are created and added to the Breeze icon theme, they will show up in the CompactRepresentation when living on a panel (and only in a panel) automatically. I also had to look a little at the source code. It more or less does not refer to the reference albums chosen above. The Album Restriction applies to the album of the found reference image. We can argue about whether all these functions make sense. The selection of the reference album or the determination of the reference image is new and good. I find the restriction of the album selector unnecessary (Only Tags, current Tab...). It just caused currently problems for a user on the mailing list. [Spectacle] [Bug 473382] Mouse selection for rectangle is snapped to 5px-raster

When I set my mouse-pointer-speed to middle (in system settings), and setting the xinput matrix to 1, I can move the mouse in 1px steps (not only in spectacle). I still wonder, if these problems are new, or I simply did not recognize them before (although I often need pixel-exact selections). I assume the problem is somewhere within xinput. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 473459] New: Line Tool produces wobbly lines
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473459 Bug ID: 473459 Summary: Line Tool produces wobbly lines Classification: Applications Product: krita Version: 5.2.0-beta2 Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Keywords: regression Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Tools Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: penguinflyer2...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 161010 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=161010=edit wobbly lines with Line Tool SUMMARY As reported on KA (https://krita-artists.org/t/first-beta-for-krita-5-2-0-released-please-help-by-testing-and-reporting-bugs/71139/75), the Line Tool's lines are sometimes wobbly as if some of the dabs are misplaced along the line. This doesn't appear to happen in 5.1.5, but I can reproduce it as far back as 5.2.0-prealpha-2264a44bec (October 12 Nightly build), the oldest one I have around to test. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use the Line Tool to make diagonal lines. OBSERVED RESULT Not quite straight lines. EXPECTED RESULT Straight lines. [kscreenlocker] [Bug 473247] "The screen locker is broken and unlocking it is not possible" - plus Ctrl+Alt+F1 does not open virtual console
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473247 --- Comment #4 from php4...@gmail.com --- > Would you like to use this bug report to track the fact that the screen > locker broke in the first place, or the incorrect message? Actually I'd suggest to use it to track the fact that Ctrl+Alt+F1 seems to do nothing except render the system useless until you hit ctrl+alt+F2 to get it back. Unless that belongs outside of KDE, in which case I'd suggest using this bug for the improvable error message. The fact that the screen locker is broken in the first place, I assume it's tracked somewhere else (given that the error message even exists) (and hopefully the particular condition that makes it break that I've stumbled upon is not a new unknown one). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 473278] Icons in "System Tray Settings -> Entries" are mixed between monochrome and colorful
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473278 --- Comment #10 from Nate Graham --- Looks like these applets aren't setting their Plasmoid.Icon properties at all, and are relying on custom icon items which happen to get drawn in the tray. This should be easy enough to fix, and it's good that we found this. It will make it easier to porting everything to the default CompactRepresentation later. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmail2] [Bug 473458] New: Add option to disable markdown-esque formatting of plaintext messages
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473458 Bug ID: 473458 Summary: Add option to disable markdown-esque formatting of plaintext messages Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: unspecified Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: l...@unixpoet.dev Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 161008 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=161008=edit Screenshot depicting formatting making text harder to read SUMMARY For plaintext emails, KMail applies Markdown-esque formatting to text surrounded by at least **, --, and __ characters. The -- characters in particular are problematic for technical discussion, as they create a strikethrough effect. This makes it hard to read text like this: sockstat -u | grep /tmp/ssh- STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open email using formatting characters listed above 2. Notice how it changes the appearance of the message in a way that makes it harder to read 3. Observe there's no preference to disable this OBSERVED RESULT Commandline text (and other text using these characters for purposes other than formatting) is harder to read, but there's no preference to disable this EXPECTED RESULT A preference is added which supports toggling whether to enable this formatting. Alternately, removing the formatting feature altogether would be acceptable as well; part of the point of plain text email is that it's not handled specially and is presented as-is.
