   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.08.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: khylin.may...@dabrapids.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Every product in my humble opinion should in copyright list current year of
product release. In Dolphin there is still year 2022, despite several 2023 year
releases.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Help | About

OBSERVED RESULT
Notice 2022 in text: "(C) 2006-2022 The Dolphin Developers"

EXPECTED RESULT
2023

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

[dolphin] [Bug 474514] New: Filter box is not remembered through sessions

2023-09-13 Thread maycin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474514

Bug ID: 474514
   Summary: Filter box is not remembered through sessions
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.08.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: khylin.may...@dabrapids.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Filter field on bottom of files list is not remembered when I close down
Dolphin and reopen it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Edit | Filter and filter is displayed bellow list files.
2. Close down Dolphin and reopen it. And Filter row bellow files disappears.

OBSERVED RESULT
Filter field bellow list files is closed down.

EXPECTED RESULT
Filter opened/closed state should be remembered through sessions (exit and
start of Dolphin).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10, Fedora 38/flatpak

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I think Filter is one of the best features of Dolphin, but reopening it after
every session is little bit annoying. It would be fantastic if Filter
opened/closed state is remembered through sessions.

I‘ve tried what the email said but it doesn't solve my problem. The only
difference is the val.log name became val..log. What I have experienced
includes unexpected "Command" shown in valgrind log file, and more than one pid
in valgrind log file etc.

--- Comment #1 from Paul Floyd  ---
This looks more like user error than a critical defect to me.

When you are using --log-file and --trace-children=yes you should really use
%p in the log file name. Otherwise the children will overwrite the log file.

Try -log-file=val.%p.log

If that doesn't solve your problem then we need more info. Add an attachment
with your log files in a tarball so that we can see more clearly what is
happening.

I'll think about detecting --trace-children and --log-file without a %p and
issuing a warning.

[dolphin] [Bug 474512] New: kio 5.110.1-1 causes dolphin to crash when overwriting files with copy

2023-09-13 Thread Jeremy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474512

Bug ID: 474512
   Summary: kio 5.110.1-1 causes dolphin to crash when overwriting
files with copy
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.08.0
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bluishhumil...@duck.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***

When copying identically named files from one directory to another, choosing
the "overwrite" option causes Dolphin to crash.

Downgrading kio from 5.110.0-1 to 5.109.0-2 resolves the issue.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  mkdir test1 test2
2.  touch test1/file{1..9}.txt test2/file{1..9}.txt
3. In Dolphin, copy the nine files out of test1 and paste to test2
4. When prompted to overwrite, rename, or skip, choose overwrite.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin reliably dumps core. Downgrading kio from 5.110.0-1 to 5.109.0-2
resolves the issue.

EXPECTED RESULT
The expected result would be the application succeeds in overwriting the files
without crashing.

2023-09-13 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 474508
   Summary: Almost completely black screen after waking up from
screen energy saving
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.27.7
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: nkwkel...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

After not touching the computer for a long time (10 mins in my config), the
screen will turn off for energy saving. If I move my mouse or press any key on
the keyboard after energy saving, the screen should fully come back but it does
not. Instead, it is completely black except the cursor. Once I move the cursor
to the upper left corner, it will show all windows as normal. However, if I
click on one of the windows, the screen will go black again except the cursor.

A workaround is to switch to tty and then suspend the computer. After waking up
from suspend, the screen will come back as normal.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Do not touch the computer for long enough to trigger screen energy saving
2. Touch the computer

OBSERVED RESULT
Completely black screen except cursor and the upper left corner thing

EXPECTED RESULT
Show everything as expected

  Platform: Kubuntu

  Reporter: barn...@waterpigs.co.uk

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

At least in Details mode, with the preview sidebar open: any item currently
under the mouse cursor has permanent preview priority, even if you use the
keyboard to change the current selection to a different item.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In a folder with several files, click once with the cursor to select one.
The preview sidebar shows a preview and information for it
2. Using the arrow keys, move the selection up and down to different files,
while leaving the cursor in place

OBSERVED RESULT
The preview/info sidebar still shows info and a preview for the file under the
cursor, even when a different file was more recently selected via the keyboard.

EXPECTED RESULT
When the current selection was updated using the keyboard more recently than
the last mouseover event, the currently selected item should be shown in the
preview bar, not the one which happens to be under the mouse cursor.

2023-09-13 Thread Ingo Klöcker
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474505

Bug ID: 474505
   Summary: Kate auto-detects wrong indentation
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 23.08.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: indentation
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kloec...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 161612
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=161612=edit
Markdown file for which Kate auto-detects indentation width 7

For the attached file Kate auto-detects an indentation of 7. I think it
shouldn't assume any indentation width for this file and instead use the
default.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable "Automatically detect file indentation"
2. Open the attached file

OBSERVED RESULT
Kate automatically sets indentation to 7. Shows "Soft Tabs: 7 (4)" in the
status bar.

EXPECTED RESULT
Kate uses standard indentation, i.e. 4.

Even though the file ends with many lines which seem to suggest an indentation
of 7, there are many other lines which suggest indentations of 4, 12, 32. I
think, in case of an indentation histogram with multiple peaks without a common
divisor, Kate shouldn't assume a non-standard indentation. Or it should switch
from fixed width indentation to "smart indentation" (i.e. indentation based on
the next non-empty line above the cursor).

--- Comment #1 from smojo-fo...@posteo.de ---
Resolved on my own.
I first tried to netcat from the phone (which I did not before and it failed).

I was looking if there is a firewall in between:
- Calyx has a OS included one but KDE Connect is allowed there
- I was not aware that PureOS has one (as e.g. stuff like syncthing works
seamlessly) - https://forums.puri.sm/t/not-recommended-to-use-a-firewall/9130

Still after I executed:
sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=kdeconnect
sudo firewall-cmd --reload

The netcat from Handy to Laptop showed 1716 and 1717 as successful. Crazy thing
than was that the other way around did not show any port
as succeeded anymore.

Anyway the phone connected then and the rest works as expected.

Sorry for open this one ;-)

[plasmashell] [Bug 474502] New: Multi monitor window position clipping error

2023-09-13 Thread John W Cornell
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474502

Bug ID: 474502
   Summary: Multi monitor window position clipping error
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.27.4
  Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Desktop Containment
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: john.wayne.corn...@gmail.com
CC: notm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
***
When programatically setting window size and position of a window on a monitor
that does not show a Panel the area is clipped as though a Panel were present
and if the main panel is on the bottom of the primary monitor the window is
moved upwards so that the title bar is off screen.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Save the following code to myapp.c

#include
#include
#include

static void on_button_clicked(GtkWidget *button, gpointer user_data) {
GtkWidget *window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL);
gtk_window_set_title(GTK_WINDOW(window), "Test Window");
gtk_window_set_default_size(GTK_WINDOW(window), 400, 300);

gtk_widget_show_all(window);

// Maximize the window
gtk_window_maximize(GTK_WINDOW(window));

// Allow the window to actually maximize before retrieving its size and
position
while (gtk_events_pending())
gtk_main_iteration();

 // Using X11 to retrieve the geometry
GdkWindow *gdkwindow = gtk_widget_get_window(window);
Window xwindow = GDK_WINDOW_XID(gdkwindow);

Display *display = XOpenDisplay(NULL);
if (!display) {
g_printerr("Failed to open X display\n");
return;
}

sleep(1);

int x, y;
Window child;
unsigned int width, height, border_width, depth;
Window root_return;

XGetGeometry(display, xwindow, _return, , , , ,
_width, );

XTranslateCoordinates(display, xwindow,
XRootWindowOfScreen(XDefaultScreenOfDisplay(display)),
  x, y, , , );
g_print("Window geometry: x=%d, y=%d, width=%u, height=%u\n", x, y, width,
height);

gtk_window_unmaximize(GTK_WINDOW(window));
while (gtk_events_pending())
gtk_main_iteration();

// Set the size and position

XMoveResizeWindow(display, xwindow, x, y, width, height);
XSync(display, FALSE);

while (gtk_events_pending())
gtk_main_iteration();

XGetGeometry(display, xwindow, _return, , , , ,
_width, );

XTranslateCoordinates(display, xwindow,
XRootWindowOfScreen(XDefaultScreenOfDisplay(display)),
  x, y, , , );
g_print("Window geometry: x=%d, y=%d, width=%u, height=%u\n", x, y, width,
height);

XCloseDisplay(display);
}

int main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
gtk_init(, );

GtkWidget *main_window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL);
gtk_window_set_title(GTK_WINDOW(main_window), "Main Window");
gtk_window_set_default_size(GTK_WINDOW(main_window), 200, 100);
g_signal_connect(main_window, "destroy", G_CALLBACK(gtk_main_quit), NULL);

GtkWidget *button = gtk_button_new_with_label("Create Window");
g_signal_connect(button, "clicked", G_CALLBACK(on_button_clicked), NULL);
gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(main_window), button);

gtk_widget_show_all(main_window);
gtk_main();

return 0;
}

2. Compile
gcc `pkg-config --cflags gtk+-3.0` -o myapp myapp.c `pkg-config --libs
gtk+-3.0` -lX11

3.  execute
./myapp

4 Move the window to a monitor on which the panel is parallel top or bottom in
desktop coordinates.
5 Press the button

OBSERVED RESULT
the window size and position taken from the maximized position for the second
monitor are cropped where the Panel would be displayed. Pushing up if the Panel
would be at the bottom or cropping and moving down if the Panel would be at the
top.

EXPECTED RESULT
A Window positioned and sized to the maximized position and size.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
Operating System: Ubuntu Studio 23.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.104.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel Version: 6.2.0-1012-lowlatency (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight-Core Processor
Memory: 31.2 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA RTX A5000/PCIe/SSE2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This error prevents utility functions from being able to properly position
windows across runs on a secondary display. It definitely isn't an X11 problem
or windows could not be maximized correctly. In short when the Panel is
parallel in desktop coordinates the window rect is clipped as though the panel
is displayed on every monitor

Could you please install debug symbols for Plasma, reproduce the crash, and

As the bot said, Plasma 5.24 is no longer supported by KDE. This is KDE's bug
tracker, not Kubuntu's bug tracker. So it tracks when issues are fixed in KDE
code, not when the fix is rolled out to users of the latest Kubuntu LTS
version.

Assuming I'm correct that this issue is fixed, then RESOLVED FIXED is
appropriate since the issue is fixed in our code, it's just not fixed in the
version of Plasma that you're using. It's your choice if you want to use a
distro that ships software releases that are older than what KDE offers support
for. That LTS designation came from Kubuntu, not us. It just means you need to
ask for support from them.

If tihs explanation is not satisfying, I'd recommend reading see
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting#Understand_what_the_resolution_statuses_mean

That's very strange. Some questions for debugging purposes:
1. Does it happen in the Wayland session too, or only on X11?
2. How many screens do you have connected when this happens?
3. Are you using a non-default window activation policy (e.g. focus follows
mouse)?
4. Are you using any 3rd-party themes, scripts, or KWin effects?
5. Are you using any window rules?

Then I take it that this won't be fixed. 22.10 is not an LTS, so it's not a
solution for an LTS issue. Since WONTFIX isn't a status option, since the FIXED
status that you chose isn't accurate (the issue that I reported above is broken
in the current Kubuntu LTS), and since the bot and you both seem to want to
close this report out without doing anything about it, INTENTIONAL status is
more accurate. I am not allowed to choose that status, so please choose it on
my behalf.

This is the same as the old version of Spectacle. If you configured it to use
"last used capture method" and the last-used capture method was Rectangular

Region selector. The way you would get back to the viewer window was to accept
the screenshot. And the new version of Spectacle does the same thing.

SUMMARY
Devices simple don't find each other even in the same network and netcat -z -v
 1714-1764 (result as expected: mostly connection refuse
but also "Connection to 1716 port [tcp/*] succeeded!")

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. connect both devices to the same home Wifi 192.168.
2. Start KDE Connect on both sites
3. try to discover the devices (from Laptop or on the Android device)

OBSERVED RESULT
- devices don't show up
- also successfully tested the netcat port-test under troubleshooting
https://userbase.kde.org/KDEConnect#Troubleshooting

EXPECTED RESULT
- devices show up when open KDE Connect (at least on one site)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/GNome:
◦ PureOS 10 – Byzantium
▪ based on Debian 11 (Bullseye)
▪ Linux Kernel 5.10 LTS
▪ Windowing System: Wayland
▪ Gnome 3.38.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Android Version: 13 - CalyxOS 4.13.1 (Device Fairphone 4) - KDE Connnect from
F-Droid v. 1.27.1
- KDE Connect version on the Laptop: 20.12.3-2 (seems a bit old, but this is
the one in the "pureos-byzantium-main" repo)
- GSconnect (Extension) installed as well

Can confirm, though we should move in the direction of specifying sounds by
name, not filepath.

Cannot reproduce in Plasma 6. This looks pretty weird. Does it still happen if
you move your panel over to the left side of the screen? Can you apply the
Breeze Global Theme again, reboot, and then take a screenshot that shows what
it looks like with Breeze?
