[digikam] [Bug 476073] Assign Captions behavior in Batch Queue Manager

"The behavior of new files created or not is also expected, depending of the
Queue settings turned on."
I agree! Yes! This is no fault, it is correct behavior, really!

Contextual help say it: ...old values will be MERGED with new values. Well,
that's not happening.
If it is off: digiKam creates a new image with a new caption.
If it is on: digiKam creates a new image with a new caption.

Hi,

This is the expected result. The caption is overwritten from original. The
contextual help is clear about this topic.

The behavior of new files created or not is also expected, depending of the
Queue settings turned on.

What else ?

An addition:
If the "Overwrite automatically" is turn on in "Behavior -- If Target File

but the original one is always overwritten with the new values, but the new

[kde] [Bug 476070] New: Wi-Fi sometimes disappears from network tray icon fly-out

2023-10-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476070

Bug ID: 476070
Summary: Wi-Fi sometimes disappears from network tray icon
fly-out
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: unblended_icing...@simplelogin.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I'm not familiar with KDE Plasma specific terms so I'll just use the Windows
equivalent terms to describe.
In the tray icon area there's the network icon, clicking it would open a
fly-out that displays your active network connections, as well as available
Wi-Fi access points nearby.

I find that when I leave my laptop running overnight without suspending, in the
next morning everything related to Wi-Fi disappears from this network icon
fly-out: The Wi-Fi toggle, my Wi-Fi connections as well as available Wi-Fi
access points
. The icon turns to a disconnected Ethernet icon, and the fly-out still
displays my virtual LXD bridge.

If I then go to System Settings -> Network -> Connections, my Wi-Fi access
point shows as "Connected", and in fact I can still use Internet at this point.
I can use `killall plasmashell; kstart plasmashell` to restart plasmashell, and
then the network icon and its fly-out will go back to normal and display Wi-Fi
correctly.

This issue doesn't seem to happen if I suspend my laptop before going to sleep,
it only happens if I leave it running the whole night.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use a laptop, change power settings to never sleep
2. Lock the screen before going to sleep and leave it running overnight
3. In the next morning, unlock the laptop and check the network icon in tray
area

OBSERVED RESULT
The network icon turns into a disconnected Ethernet icon, clicking it to open
the fly-out and it seemed as if there were no Wi-Fi hardware on my device.
However, in System Settings my Wi-Fi access point still shows as connected and
I can use Internet normally.

EXPECTED RESULT
The network icon should still show my Wi-Fi connection and nearby access
points, as well as the Wi-Fi toggle.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Kernel version: 6.5.4-1
Wayland session (though this should be unrelated).
Marvell Wi-Fi card.
`ip ad` in Konsole shows my IP address of the Wi-Fi connection correctly.
Only problematic part seems to be that tray icon and its fly-out.
I don't think I can reliably reproduce this issue, but it occurs.

I think the reasonable thing to do is to conform with standard behavior on
linux, which is to only hide files/folders starting with a dot...
(this is also what `ls` does).
Other kinds of behavior probably would be surprising to users.

Hello! You've reached the KDE bug tracker, which is for tracking and
investigating specific bugs. Unfortunately there is not enough information in
here to proceed or pinpoint where a bug (if any) in KDE code might be. Can you
please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting and add more
information here, including why you think it might be a bug in any KDE
software? If you read through that wiki page and don't feel like it's helped at
all, I'd recommend posting a question at https://discuss.kde.org/c/help/6, and
hopefully the people there can help you.
Thanks!

Thanks for your help. There may still be one thing KDE could improve in the
meantime: listing all refresh rate modes even the Hz value is equal. That way
instead of only the fake 120 Hz appearing in Display Configuration, there are
two 120 Hz options (one fake, one real).

I can only talk about the KPhotoAlbum side of things, but KPA creates a list of
file URLs from the absolute file name(s) and hands this over to the
KIO::ApplicationLauncherJob. I don't see how gwenview or dolphin would do
something different here, but looking at the source of
KIO::ApplicationLauncherJob I also don't see how the URL is changed by it.

My best guess is that somehow, xdg-desktop-portal-kde is involved because Gimp
is a GTK application and there, the URL goes through kioUrlFromSandboxPath(),
which calls into KIO::Fuse to convert the URL:
https://lxr.kde.org/source/plasma/xdg-desktop-portal-kde/src/filechooser.cpp#0457

As to why the same file is handled differently in Gwenview and dolphin, I'm at
a loss.

There's no flag that says they're generated, they're all "driver". So I'm
afraid we can't even mark them as generated in kscreen-doctor, and the driver
just has to make sure the modes it advertises actually work

Fix config dialog apply/ok not doing anything

If we set new buttons we create new buttons and the connects done in the
KConfigDialogPrivate constructor are lost.

Also, why set new buttons that hide the "Set defaults" button, let the
default button set of KConfigDialog shine :)

[valgrind] [Bug 476025] Vbit expected test results for Iop_CmpGT64Ux2 are wrong.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476025

Eyal changed:

I'll write some details to explain what is going on here.

In this commit: 26a3abd27db2ef63dafea1ecab00e8239f341f0f

The handling of pcmpgt was improved. The pcmpgt operation takes two 128-bit
registers and treats every (8/16/32/64) bits as a separate word and then is
tests them for "greater than".

Before the commit 26a3abd2, valgrind just looked for any undefined bits in one
or the other register and said that if some all undefined then the whole result
is undefined. valgrind was doing the wrong thing. This caused false positives
for me in a newish version of clang so I put in the expensive check which now
calculates the "greater than" despite undefinedness and does the best possible
computation.

Unrelated to that fix, the vbits test checks that vbits work correctly. It
tests operations and checks that the vbits generated are correct. For many
operations, it's too hard to generate the correct vbits off an input so the
operation is marked as "UNDEF_UNKNOWN", indicating that the vbits for that
operation are too hard to calculate so we just won't test this one.

All the Iop_CmpGT... operations ( there are 2-0 of them) in the vbits test are
marked as "UNDEF_UNKNOWN" except for Iop_CmpGT64Ux2. This was probably a
mistake when it was written. For that one, it checks that the vbits that are
output are doing the wrong thing in the way that valgrind also does the wrong
thing. Basically, it was confirming that valgrind is doing the wrong thing in
the way that we expect valgrind to be wrong.

Well, now valgrind works and so the test is getting hung up because it's
checking that valgrind is still "broken". But it isn't. I never noticed this
in my testing because it only tested on ppc platforms.

The solution is to first set that test to UNDEF_UNKNOWN. That'll get the tests
working again.

The follow-up, if we want, is to convert all those UNDEF_UNKNOWNS into
UNDEF_somethingelse that actually checks correctness. Now, is that the right
thing to do? Maybe. On the one hand, it makes the testing more complete. On
the other hand, the guy that wrote the expensiveCmpGT (me) is going to write
the UNDEF_CMP_GT (me again) it's like me grading my own homework and declaring
100% on myself. Not a very robust test! However, the vbits code is in regular
c++ and not the VEX IR thing so there is some value to it that way. And I can
see in the vbits test that ADD, SUB, etc, *are* handled (not UNDEF_UNKNOWN) and
cmpgt is similar to those. So maybe we should do it.

I think that it wouldn't be too difficult to do given that we can pretty much
copy the ADD and SUB examples. We'll need permuations for the various bit
widths, signed/unsigned, and number of lanes. But not too bad. I'd probably
still skip the floating point ones because that seems harder to me. Maybe it's
not, though? I dunno.

Bug ID: 476064

Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: master
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Unspecified

  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_kwindecoration

SUMMARY
In Global Theme settings, one can configure individual themes for Colors,
Application Style, and Window Decorations. However, their popups are not
consistent.

* Tooltip is "Edit [Name] Theme" which differs from the other two's tooltips
(also the only one without ellipsis)
* Footer buttons are "Help, Reset, Defaults, OK, Apply, Cancel" which differs
from others
* Has a large header ("[Name] Window Decoration") above tabs, which others
don't have (and is probably redundant)
* No warning popup when closing with unsaved changes, unlike the Colors KCM
