[kdenlive] [Bug 479495] New: Changing speed of an image sequence at certain framerate either cuts off the end or play too quickly and loop

2024-01-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479495

Bug ID: 479495
Summary: Changing speed of an image sequence at certain
framerate either cuts off the end or play too quickly
and loop
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 23.08.3
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Effects & Transitions
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: baker...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set project framerate to 60fps
2. Import png image sequence at 1 frame per frame (intended for 24fps)
3. Drag image sequence onto timeline
4. right click image sequence to change speed

OBSERVED RESULT
changing speed to 40% causes end of image sequence to be unplayable
changing speed to 40.01% causes image sequence to play too quickly, and final
frames are a repeat of the first

EXPECTED RESULT
Image sequence should be able to have its speed changed to any value and allow
the entire image sequence to play at desired speed.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 476375] Powerdevil fails to start with ddcutil-2.0.0, spikes cpu usage to max every few seconds

2024-01-06 Thread Jakob Petsovits
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476375

Alright folks, the commit from Comment #59 is going to be in Plasma 6 RC1,
a.k.a. version 5.92.0 and above.

What this means is that you can now create a file called
$HOME/.config/ddcutil/ddcutilrc. If present, both the PowerDevil daemon and
ddcutil will read and interpret it. The contents could look e.g. like this:

[global]
; Combined with all other options strings
options : --trace-to-syslog-only --trcfunc ddc_write_read_with_retry --trcfunc
ddc_write_read

There is a slightly more detailed documentation page for this file at
https://www.ddcutil.com/config_file/ and a listing of the numerous ddcutil
options at https://www.ddcutil.com/options_main/ - go nuts if you're into
debugging. Any ddcutil tracing output will show up in journalctl, under
org_kde_powerdevil.

I don't know enough about ddcutil to tell what a good set of options would be
to debug this particular use case, maybe the above are a good start or maybe
they're unreadable noise. Not sure, we'll have to figure it out as we go along.
You can also try specifying some of the options that change how ddcutil
behaves. If you find an options that magically fixes things for you, that would
be a *very* solid data point. But even without that, we should now have some
tools on hand to communicate effectively with the ddcutil maintainer on his
GitHub page: https://github.com/rockowitz/ddcutil/issues/

Another thing you can do for better reporting is to make PowerDevil's own
logging statements show up in journalctl. Tell systemd to give you an editor by
calling:

systemctl edit --user plasma-powerdevil.service

Then add something like this to the empty space "between here and the comment
below":

[Service]
Environment="QT_LOGGING_RULES=*.debug=true;qt.*.debug=false"

This will tell us approximately how far you made it into PowerDevil's DDC code.
You can already do this with previously released versions of PowerDevil, too.
To actually see the output without having to log out and back in, restart just
the PowerDevil daemon with:

systemctl restart --user plasma-powerdevil.service

When posting output, please use pastebin sites such as https://paste.kde.org/,
https://gist.github.com/ or https://pastebin.com/ and link to those pastes.
It's already a very long bug, let's try to keep it relatively tidy. Thanks
everyone for helping to get this nailed down!

3. repeatedly press your hotkey to play next/previous
OBSERVED RESULT
occasionally Haruna will skip over an item in the playlist, as if the play
next/previous button was hit twice

EXPECTED RESULT
haruna should consistently only move one item forward or backward in the
playlist per press of the next/previous shortcuts

KDE Plasma Version: Plasma 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.113

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Tested on both my keyboard and mouse with same observed effect. Initially I
thought that it was my mouse buttons bouncing and sending two inputs, but when
I was trying to figure out how to reconfigure my mouse to fix it I noticed that
it didn't quite behave right so I rebound it to a different set of keys on my
keyboard and tested it to the same result.

[plasmashell] [Bug 479492] plasmashell exits with large(ish) number of windows

2024-01-06 Thread Don Estabrook
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479492

I forgot to mention that the windows I have open are spread across 5 desktops.
It appears that the issue is related to the total number of windows on all
desktops, not the number on a single desktop. (Near "the limit", I can open or
close a couple windows on any desktop and cause plasmashell to exit or not.
Windows closed don't have to be the same ones that were opened past the limit.)

Output from strace plasmashell, exiting immediately after startup.

SUMMARY
If I open "too many" windows, plasmashell exits with the message
> The Wayland connection broke. Did the Wayland compositor die?
resulting in the panels and root window background disappearing, etc.
plasmashell does not appear to crash - there is no indication of a coredump -
it simple exits with status 1.

I'm not sure how many windows are "too many". I was roughly guessing about
100. xwininfo currently says the root window has 165 children, if that helps -
but I see what appear to be a lot of duplicates in its list.
When I discovered what was happening, I started running plasmashell from an
xterm so that (a) I could continue working, and (b) so that I could see its
output. Sometimes there are additional error messages before the one shown
above, but that is the only one that's consistent.
It seems that when I'm near the limit, plasmashell becomes increasing unstable
as more windows are opened. Beyond a certain point, it exits immediately after
it starts. If I then close some windows, I can restart plasmashell and it will
run again until I open more windows.

I'm attaching output from plasmashell running under strace. In its current
state, it exits immediately after starting it, with no other message than the
one shown above.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start session, open applications (web browser, numerous xterms, gitk,
Ardour, okular, ...).
2. Continue opening windows, keeping an eye on the panel containing task
manager (for me this is at the bottom of the screen)...
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
With somewhere between 50 and 150 open windows, an additional window seems to
cause plasmashell to exit with zero or more error messages, always ending in
the on cited above.

EXPECTED RESULT
Session continues to operate normally; panels and their apps continue to
function, and I'm blissfully unaware of plasmashell. :-)

I have not installed proprietary nVidia drivers, and it appears I'm running

switching between Intel and nVidia GPUs and didn't remember how I left it.)

[dolphin] [Bug 479491] New: Dolphin doesn't steal focus when opening an already opened folder in Wayland

2024-01-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479491

Bug ID: 479491
Summary: Dolphin doesn't steal focus when opening an already
opened folder in Wayland
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.08.4
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: boslma...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If I select "Open Folder" in an application or the command line I would expect
that Dolphin opens that folder, no matter if it's already opened or not. But if
I open a folder some window in the background has already opened, nothing
happens.
A different folder gets opened in a new window, but that's not what should
happen, the currently opened window should steal focus or reopen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin Window in Folder A (e.g. via commandline with dolphin -select
A)
2. Open other Window that moves over the Dolphin Window in Folder A (e.g. an
IDE in Folder A)
3. Open Dolphin Window in Folder A again (e.g. in the IDE through the Button
"open Folder in Dolphin" or similar)

OBSERVED RESULT
The already opened Dolphin Window does not steal focus, it seems as if nothing
happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
The already opened Dolphin Window should steal focus.

[systemsettings] [Bug 478219] Global shortcuts that send keystrokes/characters to the focused window

2024-01-06 Thread pgnd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478219

> Users specifying "Hello" as input seems more friendly than "Shift+H:E:L:L:O"

couldn't agree more.
that's what existed. and what we made do with.
frequently, complex strings to be typed have to be 'assembled' _for_ the user,
and assigned to a manageable key-chord.
a PITA, but doable -- and deployable.
it would be a great improvement to be able to 'enter' a string to be typed,
simply by typing it -- not synthesizing it.

e.g., 'simply'

 TEXT to type: [ p@s$w0rD_1 ]
 KEY COMBO: Ctrl-Meta-P

or,

TEXT to type: [ (tab)Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit,
sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
(return)(return)Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco
laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. ]
KEY COMBO: Ctrl-Shift-Meta-L

and, when KEY-COMBO is played in active window (Konsole, LibreOffice, Firefox
URL bar, etc etc), the TEXT would be typed, as input.

Well without the image, it's not very helpful. After the rating, this entry
appears:

photoshop:Urgency="4"

This is a color label that certainly comes from the image itself. If you don't
want photoshop:Urgency to be recognized as a color label, deactivate it in the
advanced metadata settings (simply uncheck the entry)

Random aside: The builtin "Type 'Hello'" example in khotkeys is broken. It only

I downgraded to 5.1.5 to confirm it's still working there.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a Vanishing Point via Assistant Tool
2. Enable "Show Assistant Previews" in View menu
3. Select freehand brush tool to confirm it works.
4. Then select, for example, the Polygon tool to confrm it disappears.

OBSERVED RESULT

trivial (we track all of its running downloads already anyway), but for that

[kde] [Bug 479484] New: KDE only shows charging in battery icon, even when the laptop is not plugged in. when the battery is full it shows I don't have a battery

2024-01-06 Thread ScrewTest

Bug ID: 479484
Summary: KDE only shows charging in battery icon, even when the
laptop is not plugged in. when the battery is full it
shows I don't have a battery
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Reporter: kartikkawa...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 164719
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=164719=edit
this is a screenshot of what is actually happening

for example my laptop has 80% charge in the battery, i boot up linux, kde will
show that battery is 80% and is charging. if the laptop is plugged in or not it
will only show that percentage in which the laptop was booted into. if the
laptop has 50% battery before booting, it will only show that battery charge
until i restart the system and boot into linux ones again or shut down my
laptop and boot into linux. if the battery in 100% before booting into it,
after booting linux shows that the system doesn't even has a battery.

right now it is showing that i don't have a battery in the taskbar . i typed
acpi -b and it is showing :
Battery 0: Not charging, 98%

[kphotoalbum] [Bug 479483] New: Deleting an image from the annotation dialog makes the dialog jump to the first image

Summary: Deleting an image from the annotation dialog makes the
dialog jump to the first image
Classification: Applications
   Product: kphotoalbum
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Annotation Dialog
  Assignee: kpab...@willden.org
  Reporter: johan...@zarl-zierl.at
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Crash report as written by Constantin Orăsan (via the mailing list):
Whenever I delete an image, the annotation dialog jumps back to the first image
from the selection.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. select a bunch of images
2. select "annotate individual images"
3. annotate images or just navigate through images
4. delete an image from the dialog

At this stage I would expect that the dialog moves to the next image (as it
used to do in the past). Instead it jumps back to the first image in the
selection.

I compiled KPA from the source on Ubuntu 23.10.

[2] Firefox doesn't prevent Windows from going into suspend mode while active

Could plasma integration maybe add a workaround? It doesn't look like it's
going to be fixed any time soon. :-(

Dragging 'n dropping a file opens a menu asking the user what to do with the

this behavior. Having to choose what to do with a file EVERY time I simply drag
