[okular] [Bug 480989] New: feature: add option to enter percentage for default zoom
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480989 Bug ID: 480989 Summary: feature: add option to enter percentage for default zoom Classification: Applications Product: okular Version: 23.08.4 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org Reporter: o...@thegoulds.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Currently, the only options for the "default zoom" in Okular are 100%, Fit Width, Fit Height, and Auto Fit. Personally, I find all of these options to be either too small or too large, and generally like it to be around 75%, and I'd like if there was some way to make that the default. Overall, I think it would be beneficial to everyone if there was another option for a custom percentage, and one could just simply type in the number instead, allowing for more user customization. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This indicates that QTBUG-115717 is probably not the root cause. It still seems highly likely that all the bugs marked as duplicates of this one are actual duplicates, as the symptoms are almost exactly the same. However, I have not been able to uncover the root cause yet, and more investigation is needed. [kde] [Bug 480976] New: Desktop Effects Window Open/Close Animation "Scale": Task Switcher creates enormous graphical artefacts on screen when "Window close scale" is set to a high number
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480976 Bug ID: 480976 Summary: Desktop Effects Window Open/Close Animation "Scale": Task Switcher creates enormous graphical artefacts on screen when "Window close scale" is set to a high number Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: fi...@tutanota.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY System Settings→Desktop Effects→Window Open/Close Animation has three options. The "Scale" option allows the user to change the open/close scale in its menu. The scale is 0.8 by default (i.e. opening / closing animation happens within the bounds of the animated object: shrink to 0.8 of original size when closing, expand from 0.8 of target size when opening) and is limited to no more than 9.99. This scale feature affects how the Task Switcher appears / disappears. When using the Task Switcher when the close scale is set to more than 1.0, graphical artefacts start appearing on the screen once the close animation has finished. The larger the number, the bigger and more obvious the artefacts are. The artefacts seem to be remnants of the animation that are still being drawn to the screen, and they seem to only ever appear in areas of the screen that the Task Switcher did NOT fill when it was open. They can be cleared by running the mouse over them, opening the start menu over them, or going into the desktop overview with Meta+Tab. They seem to flicker / respond to changes drawn to other windows (see them flashing as the timer updates in the attached video, for instance). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. In Desktop Effects, set the Window Open/Close Animation to "Scale" 2. Open the "Scale" options and set "Window close scale" to more than 1.0 (3.0+ will be more obvious) 3. Select Apply and then OK in the "Scale" options. 4. Use the Task Switcher with Alt+Tab. OBSERVED RESULT On releasing Alt+Tab, parts of the Task Switcher's close animation continue to be drawn to the screen. They flicker and are not the same each time they appear, but are reproducible. EXPECTED RESULT The close animation ends cleanly. [plasmashell] [Bug 480643] Optionally align slideshow timer with the beginning of the day (sync multiple desktops)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480643 --- Comment #1 from bastimeyer...@gmail.com --- I've applied the following patch to my plasma-workspace build, which works fine for me. This always aligns the timers with unix epoch and makes the slideshows shorter, depending on the time when the slideshows have started in these strict time intervals. This fixes the desync issues when loading a desktop on various screens/activities for the first time, restarting the slideshows, skipping wallpapers, or when there's a random delay during the wallpaper transition (different issue). I don't really intend to open a pull request, because as said, I'm not familiar with C++/Qt/QML and the plasma-workspace setup, so I wouldn't be able to easily implement a config option for that or make other adjustments if requested. Please have a look and see if these changes make sense to you. [Discover] [Bug 480975] New: Discover 6.0 crashes when switching from "compact / mobile" view to "expanded" view
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480975 Bug ID: 480975 Summary: Discover 6.0 crashes when switching from "compact / mobile" view to "expanded" view Classification: Applications Product: Discover Version: 5.91.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: discover Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: fi...@tutanota.com CC: aleix...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 165632 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=165632=edit The crash log, after I installed debug symbols. Crash Handler says it's 3 stars (useful) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin 2. Resize it smaller until it switches to the compact view (everything should still work fine) 3. Resize it bigger so that it tries to switch back to the expanded view OBSERVED RESULT At the point when Discover would switch to expanded view, it stops responding, does not resize or redraw the window, and then crashes entirely and closes. >From when Dolphin freezes to when it closes, there is high disk usage. EXPECTED RESULT Discover shows the expanded view SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Neon Testing Wayland Discover (according to apt): `plasma-discover/jammy,now 5.91.90+p22.04+vstable+git20240206.0038-0 amd64` Discover (according to Discover→About): 6.0.0 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I don't know if this is related, but if you resize the Discover window smaller by forcing it against a screen side with the mouse / Meta+Left / Meta+Right, so that Discover takes up half the screen, the edge of Discover touching the screen side (left or right) will stop showing the outmost window decoration. In Breeze Dark theme this is a 1px pale grey bar. It disappears, and the standard darker grey window fills the space instead -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 480828] kwin: poor experience with Gtk apps and 175% display scaling
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480828 --- Comment #3 from Vasily Khoruzhick --- (In reply to Vlad Zahorodnii from comment #2) > kwin doesn't really set the dpi and it ceils the scale factor for apps that > don't support fractional scaling, I believe kde-gtk-config does it. Is this > an xwayland or a wayland app? I checked Orca Slicer sources and looks like it forces X11 backend for GTK due to some issue with WxGTK: https://github.com/SoftFever/OrcaSlicer/blob/8b1b3355e6ebf97475474661dc0516663a85798c/src/OrcaSlicer.cpp#L890 So apparently the issue is with kde-gtk-config, for some reason it sets Gdk/WindowScalingFactor to 1 if display scaling is 175%. Let me move the bug to kde-gtk-config package -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Right now I'm not able to reproduce this behavior or either my Linux or Windows test system. Are you still running into this bug? If so, can you tell me any more about your current system and settings? For example, what kind of GPU you have, whether you have "Canvas Acceleration" turned on (in Settings > Display > Canvas Acceleration), whether your animation cache settings are set to "in memory" or "on disk", etc. In the mean time I'll be closing this bug report, but if you come back with more information we can reopen it and I'll continue investigating it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
