[kwin] [Bug 482828] New: Task bar/panel icons disappear when mouse is moved over them

2024-03-07 Thread Vorpal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482828

Bug ID: 482828
Summary: Task bar/panel icons disappear when mouse is moved
over them
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 6.0.1
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@vorpal.se
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Icons disappear and appear in the right corner of the dock as you move the
mouse over them. This makes using the taskbar largely unusable.

Note: I coudn't find a "dock" or "taskbar" product/component to file this bug
against, so I gussed kwin/general. Please move if incorrect.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot my desktop (this doesn't happen on my laptop) and log into the new
fancy KDE. Doesn't matter if it is wayland or X11, happens for both
2. Move mouse over icons in dock. Icons all move to the upper left corner of
the dock

OBSERVED RESULT
Icons disappear and appear in the right corner of the dock as you move the
mouse over them. The same also happens to icons in the "system tray" part on
the right, except for the clock, the up arrow and KDE connect. Everything else
gets erased.

EXPECTED RESULT
As on my laptop, where this doesn't happen.

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 5.20.5 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from
KDE; supported versions are 5.27, and 5.27 or newer. Please upgrade to a
supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you.
Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the
next one.

If you need support for Plasma 5.20.5, please contact your distribution, who
bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no
longer supported by KDE.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel
free to re-open this bug report.

[plasmashell] [Bug 482731] After setting custom panel width, autohide doesn't work

2024-03-07 Thread chungalitos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482731

Sorry, you are right: it is "Dodge windows". And it happened on Wayland, not
tested on x11. I was going to do this, but now I can't replicate it (Wayland).

First time, when I tried to adjust panel width, something strange happened: if
I adjusted the width on one side, it did not adjust automatically on the other
(even though I had the planel centered). I had to log out and log in to fix it
(Dodge Windows behaviour).

Now this does not happen, and the adjustment is symmetrical. After that, Dodge
Windows setting still works.

I'm sorry about all this. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

[plasmashell] [Bug 482827] New: Floating top panel invisibly obscures top of maximized window

2024-03-07 Thread Krzysztof Kundzicz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482827

Bug ID: 482827
Summary: Floating top panel invisibly obscures top of maximized
window
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.0.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: athantor+kdeb...@athi.pl
CC: niccolo.venera...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 166684
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=166684=edit
Screen-cast of the behavior.

Top floating panel, when one maximizes a window of an application, „un-floats”,
but the part of the screen, where bottom of this floating panel was occupying
and now taken by the maximized window, still receives mouse events (hover,
click), in effect invisibly blocking interaction with top part of a maximized
window, which, for example, makes difficult to click on its close button.

Attached an screen-cast of the behavior. Please notice when elements light up:
the desktop switcher brights up, when mouse cursor is still over Firefox tab
and Firefox's tab lights up only when cursor is over its middle, over bottom
part.

After disabling panel floating, everything works as expected.
Bottom floating panel seems to be „unfloating” properly.

Tested only on X11, as Wayland doesn't work on NVIDIA ootb.

SCALING: 125%
HDMI-0 connected primary 3840x2160+1920+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 700mm x 390mm
DP-2 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x
193mm

Panel located at HDMI-0 screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a top panel and make it floating
2. Open an app and maximize it
3. Try to click on its elements located at the top of the window.

OBSERVED RESULT
Panel „steals” mouse events.

EXPECTED RESULT
Maximized application receives mouse events.

Indeed, if I install `ttf-hack-nerd` and then set the "Fixed width" font in
System Settings to "Hack Nerd Font 10pt" (the default is "Hack 10pt"), then
Konsole shows the nerd font IF you DON'T set any specific font in the profile
(it will take the default). The same holds for Kate: DON'T set any font, and it
will take the default. As soon as you set a font, either you make sure you
select a Nerd font, or it won't work (you experience this bug).

[konsole] [Bug 482628] ALT+F activates "find" in the toolbar

I prefer not to use CTRL or ALT alone for any accelerator keys in Konsole or
any terminal emulators. Most terminal applications (such as Emacs) have many
CTRL+* and ALT+* key bindings.

Just updated to KDE 6 today and I think I have the same problem. With HDR
enabled and SDR brightness set to 400% there's less contrast in colours and
everything appears to be more washed out. Changing the SDR Color Intensity has
no effect on the image.

I am running mesa drivers.

"it's a feature, not a bug". Adding a profile gives the "New Tab" sub-menu the
items ["Built-in", "Profile 1"]. This confused me when my assigned new-tab
keyboard shortcut wasn't working.
It would be nice if "New Tab" wasn't a sub-menu to the actual actionables when
this behavior isn't explicitly desired.

Yes, it looks like the issue only applies to the widget position of the

Those with erradict mouse moves are you using fractional scaling? I'm seeing
some people talk about that as well, but thinking the erradict mouse movement
and the "stuck" movement I described may be two different issues.

I am also encountering this after upgrading to 6.0.1 with Arch. For now, I
changed the fixed width font in system settings to a nerd-font patched
FiraCode, and that seems to work fine. I suspect that luisbocanegra found the
cause, and it appears to be intended behavior.

Can we perhaps get a new setting to control this behavior, or choose a default
fallback font? I'd prefer to not have to use patched fonts to get the nerd font
symbols if there's a way to make that work without breaking the use case
described in QTBUG-110502.

exposes DDC brightness control as typical brightness control so it just works

For example: Catppuccin Frappe Classic
