I'm having the same issue, however this was working for me after updating to

I've tried multiple reboots, changing the power profile, still doesn't turn my

You're welcome!

Despite my response and my having closed this bug report, I can tell you that
the issue irks me too, and I'm very open to alternative approaches that are
technically feasible within the scope of using Qt scaling. For example, we
could perhaps investigate better scaling algorithms in KWin.

If you don't know, then you probably didn't do it yourself, which means it's

Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 24.02.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Back Trace from Cordumpctl and GDB

SUMMARY
This doesn't happen all the time. I can't even say it happens often. More like
every now and then. However, sometimes when I turn my monitors off and back on.
Dolphin crashes. I remember the last time having three dolphin windows open and
when I turned my monitors off and back on. Two of them crashed, but the third
remained open.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open dolphin.
2. I have two monitors, but not sure if that is necessary, Anyways, I usually
turn them both off at the same time. As in, I try to press the power button on
both of them at the same time. Not sure if that plays a roll.
3. Turn them back on.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin sometimes crashes.

EXPECTED RESULT
It should never crash.

I took a bit of a look and it seems like this is because all of these filetypes
are defined in `packaging/windows/msix/manifest.xml.in` in one group and use
the same display name of "Image File". I would guess that instead of grouping
them all together we should separate them into different sections with their
own unique display name.

I don't have a windows setup so I can't test it out but anyone with a windows
build is open to trying that and making a MR.

[kde] [Bug 483575] New: Delay time between click and menu appearing

2024-03-14 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483575

Bug ID: 483575
Summary: Delay time between click and menu appearing
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: giuseppelovare...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Upon trying Plasma 6.0.2 (and KF6), I noticed that the delay when opening menus
on Qt-based software in KDE - that most of us perceive as lag - can be traced
down to the menus waiting for the button-click animation to end before opening.

Of course, this hinders the feeling of responsiveness of the whole desktop
environment; is it a known behavior?
I could not find anything related to this, maybe I used the wrong keywords.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a Qt-based application which presents a "slow" animation for
button-clicks, like systemsettings or Discover;
2. Click the Hamburger menu
3. Notice the delay between the click and the menu showing up

OBSERVED RESULT
The menu opens when the button-click animation ends.

EXPECTED RESULT
The menu opens upon click, and the animation speed is tuned by the user.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I think this is an old issue, but I only noticed the cause today.
My suggestion is rather noobish: I suppose we have a sequential .onClick ->
doAnimation -> openMenu setup in the code, if possible, making the two
instruction parallel could solve the problem.

2024-03-14 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478165

The OpacityMask appears to be causing this. If I remove it, the issue
disappears. Could be an inherent issue with masking a label, it could be a
pixel misalignment between the original label and the masked version that we
substitute for it on the hovered item.

Let's use this bug report only for blurry text; blurry icons constitute a
separate thing that's less fixable than blurry text.

I can reproduce the issue at 225% scale. It's subtle and hard to notice, but
clearly there. I think it's a pixel-misalignment issue as the text visible
moves a bit when hovered.

[dolphin] [Bug 483571] New: [Regression] Dolphin Incompatible with Alliance for Open Media (AOM) Compressed AVIF files (but OK for some others).

2024-03-14 Thread John
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483571

Bug ID: 483571
Summary: [Regression] Dolphin Incompatible with Alliance for
Open Media (AOM) Compressed AVIF files (but OK for
some others).
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 24.02.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: view-engine: icons mode

AOM Compressed AVIF- Dolphin Cannot Display Thumbnail (Gwenview OK).

SUMMARY
***
Dolphin (see what is installed in additional info below) cannot display
thumbnails for certain AOM compressed AVIF files (avifenc). Some are displayed
but some are not. Gwenview can open them properly and displays thumbnails.
Dolphin cannot display thumbnails for such AOM compressed photos. I give you an
attatchment as example. Some other compressed AVIF files Dolphin displays
properly. Since I have tons of AVIF (AOM) compressed photos all fail to display
as thumbs in Dolphin (I made them in KDE 5 and there all was OK. Only KDE6
suddenly stopped supporting them, i.e. Dolphin has no thumbs. Gwenview displays
them and has thumbnails). Talk about shared libraries (!) between KDE projects
(Gwenview and Dolphin). See what is installed below in additional info.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get the attatchment
2. Open it in Dolphin
3. No thumbnail

OBSERVED RESULT
No thumbnail for this AOM compressed photos. (Gwenview OK).

EXPECTED RESULT
Fix the regression. Make Dolphin be compatible with AOM Compressed AVIFs. Just
like in KDE 5.

Attempt to enable a second screen is not working

SUMMARY
Since the update from Plasma 5.91.0 to Plasma 6.0.1 and also in Plasma 6.0.2,
I have been unable to enable more than one screen at a time in the Wayland
session.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. See attached screen capture

OBSERVED RESULT
Any attempt to enable a second display does not have any effect (both in the
Settings GUI as well as when using kscreen-doctor)
I am able to enable each display individually by disabling the previously
active display first.

Kscreen doctor command for intended screen setup (running this has no effect):
kscreen-doctor \
output.1.disable \
output.2.enable \
output.2.mode.0 \
output.2.scale.1 \
output.2.position.0,360 \
output.3.enable \
output.3.mode.0 \
output.3.scale.1.50 \
output.3.position.1920,0 \

EXPECTED RESULT
Previously, I was able to enable an arbitrary combination of displays with
mixed resolutions, scale factors and refresh rates in the Wayland session.

JPG Wide Gamut P3 - Logo on Red Should Be Visable

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open Gwenview
2. Click the attatched photo.

OBSERVED RESULT
JPG wide gamut photos (P3) cannot be displayed. It should display webkit logo
on a red background. This is a test from google/webkit/blink and joint picture
expert group (google phones, browsers, apple phones can make such photos,
importing and viewing them in KDE will fail). There's no logo. NO LOGO = FAIL.

EXPECTED RESULT
Fix the support for google/android and apple phones and their photos (wide
gamut png, aka P3- see wikipedia, you know there's not only Adobe on this
world...adobe srgb...). Webikit logo on Red should be visible. If there is no
logo, then there's no support. NO LOGO=NO SUPPORT.

P.S. Gwenview displays thumbnails (click "browse" in top left) correctly. There
is red background and webkit logo on it, but Gwenview cannot display this
photo. It displays only red background, but no logo, hence fail.

[gwenview] [Bug 483564] New: Gwenview Cannot Display Wide Gamut PNGs (P3) form Google/Apple Phones.

2024-03-14 Thread John
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483564

Bug ID: 483564
Summary: Gwenview Cannot Display Wide Gamut PNGs (P3) form
Google/Apple Phones.
Classification: Applications
   Product: gwenview
   Version: 24.02.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdelo...@mozej.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 167175
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167175=edit
P3 Webkit Logo on Red Background Should Be Visiable

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open Gwenview
2. Click the attatched photo.

OBSERVED RESULT
PNG wide gamut photos (P3) cannot be displayed. It should display webkit logo
on a red background. This is a test file from google/webkit/blink and joint
picture expert group (google phones, browsers, apple phones can make such
photos, importing and viewing them in KDE will fail). There's no logo. NO LOGO
= FAIL.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS:
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2
Graphics Platform: X11
Graphics Processor: Intel Only

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
$ pacman Qs '':
kdesdk-thumbnailers 24.02
kdegraphics-thumbnailers 24.02
ffmpegthumbs 24.02
qt6-imageformats 6.6.2
kimageformats 6.0.0

libavif 1.0.4
libheif 1.17.6
libwebp 1.3.2
libjxl 0.10.2
webp-pixbuf-loader 0.2.7

P.S. Gwenview displays thumbnails (click "browse" in top left) correctly. There
is red background and webkit logo on it, but Gwenview cannot display this
photo. It displays only red background, but no logo, hence fail.

2024-03-14 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 483563
Summary: Brush settings being completely ignored if a auto
brush tip that is under 2 pixels in diameter is being
used
Classification: Applications
   Product: krita
   Version: 5.2.2
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush engines
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lahmacun...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If a brush is using a tip that is less than 2 pixels in diameter, it becomes
impossible to add color settings to the brush. which means, it's impossible to
add a hue randomizer and such other settings to a default pixel brush.

to solve my issue, i had to make a texture myself that is 3 by 3 pixels, import
it as a predefined brush tip and add a hue effect to get my desired brush,
thanks to someone on krita's reddit helping me.

we would like this to be fixed as it would make the lifes of pixel artists and
other artists a little easier.

best wishes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 483562] New: The behaviour of the pointer speed text input is weird

2024-03-14 Thread phoenix
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483562

Bug ID: 483562
Summary: The behaviour of the pointer speed text input is weird
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 6.0.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_mouse
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: fe...@feldspaten.org
CC: natalie_clar...@yahoo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

The behaviour of the pointer speed text input in the Mouse System Settings is
weird and erratic:

1. Given the input `-0.65`, I'd like to change the 6 for a 7

When hitting backspace on the 6 the input becomes `-0.50` and the cursor moves
all the way to the right. I would expect the input to be `-0.5` then and the
cursor being between the dot and the 5

2. Given the input `-0.65`. If one removes the dot, the value becomes `-1.00`.
I would expect that the text field allows temporarily values outside of the
scope to help users type in values.

3. Starting from an empty text field, I would like to input the value `-0.65`.
After typing `-0.6` the text field immediately completes to `-0.60`, even
though I'm still typing. This results in the text value `-0.605` instead of
`-0.65`.

Using a file name of '--' will result in the text being piped to stdout.
With a running instance of Tellico, the dbus command would be:
  qdbus-qt5 org.kde.tellico /Tellico org.kde.tellico.exportXML --

M +5-1doc/advanced.docbook
M +22 -9src/core/filehandler.cpp
M +2-0src/core/filehandler.h
M +5-1src/dbusinterface.cpp

[Powerdevil] [Bug 481308] screen locker black with cursor on X11

2024-03-14 Thread Jakob Petsovits
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481308

(In reply to Tony from comment #59)
> Whenever lock screen is triggered and I hit Esc in order to show input
> password field - screen becomes black like it used to before mentioned fix.
> Happens on latest Plasma 6.0.2 under X11

Esc in the screen locker is the key assigned to turning the screen off. When
it's already turned off, a second press of Esc or any other key should turn the
screen back on and show the password input field.

Could you go into detail about how the behavior differs from this expected
behavior on your system? Ideally create a new bug because we don't want this
thread to become a collection for all things related to screens turning off,
just the screen turning off when the screen locker activates.

[plasmashell] [Bug 416130] Global Shortcuts for seeking forward and backward by 5s, 10s etc.

2024-03-14 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416130

Personally I'd not even make the durations configurable and just have separate
actions:

- Seek forward/backwards by 5 seconds
- Seek forward/backwards by 15 seconds

And leave it at that. Simpler that way.

Please see the screenshot.

Also in case of a floating panel this very highlight is drawn beneath the
panel! This is not the case when opening kicker, just with "peak to desktop".

Well, we still need to investigate what caused the issue. You finding a local
workaround doesn't fix it for everyone else (which is the point of having a bug
report to track issues). Re-opening.
