[kwin] [Bug 484903] New: Windows are not shown after unplugging external monitor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484903 Bug ID: 484903 Summary: Windows are not shown after unplugging external monitor Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.2 Platform: openSUSE OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: multi-screen Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: jirisl...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When I unplug an external monitor where I have konsoles open, the konsoles look like they are still on the second monitor. That is, I can activate/minimize them through the task panel, but they are not shown anywhere. This is new in plasma 6. It used to work fine with 5. Also for example Thunderbird is moved to the primary monitor properly. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Plug in external monitor and let it extend the workspace (i.e. not clone) 2. Move there some konsoles 3. Unplug the monitor OBSERVED RESULT konsoles are not visible. EXPECTED RESULT konsole should be visible. [Spectacle] [Bug 484652] [REGRESSION] Rectangle screenshot now includes spectacle window when `picom` is running
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484652 Konstantin Kharlamov changed: What|Removed |Added CC||noaha...@gmail.com --- Comment #3 from Konstantin Kharlamov --- I created a report on Picom as well¹, and with a hint from the amazing Picom maintainer I found out that the commit that introduced regression is: efc267076 "Only have minimum 50ms timer if using PlatformXcb" It's an old commit, however due to Spectacle releases being tied to KDE commits from that timespan basically have never been tested by users (i.e. because it's a KDE6 commit whereas users couldn't use that version). I'm writing a fix. I don't know yet how to handle it best; I looked through the surrounding code and I think best way would be to add a test for whether `kwin` is the compositor in use. However I haven't found so far any detection code around that, so maybe the solution will come down to just reverting the commit. [kwin] [Bug 484902] New: Regression: "Switch to Screen" shortcuts stopped working after upgrade to Plasma 6.0
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484902 Bug ID: 484902 Summary: Regression: "Switch to Screen" shortcuts stopped working after upgrade to Plasma 6.0 Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: multi-screen Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: g...@section9.follonica.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY After upgrading to Plasma 6.0, "Switch to Screen" shortcuts stopped working. Although this seems to be intentional as per https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/5102, I find the way that the setting "active screen follows mouse" has been dropped and forcibly enabled to be unfair to the user. I have been using switch to screen shortcuts since the inception of Plasma 5.0 and after upgrading to Plasma 6.0 discovered that this functionality got removed. Apparently there has been some consensus "to drop "active mouse screen" option and stick with last interacted screen approach instead" in the late Plasma 5.0 times but I have not been able to find any discussion about the reasoning that brought to the demise of this functionality. I can't believe that the developers of KDE Plasma, whose main focus has always been on configurability, unconditionally dropped such a feature in front of old time users just to alleviate complaints from users who inadvertently disabled "active screen follows mouse" or that were unaware of its consequences. If this is actually the case, then IMHO there is something wrong with the way that this setting has been implemented in the UI or the lack of a clear warning about its consequences and not something wrong with the feature itself as I find the ability to have the screen focus independent from the mouse a key feature for multi-screen workstations and have always been fond of it. Take i.e. multiple Konsole windows (but obviously it can be any application) open on different sceens. With "Active Screen Follows Mouse" disabled, "Separate Sreen Focus" enabled and "Switch To screen" shortcuts configured you can quickly switch between multiple Konsole windows on different screens without having to resort to the task switcher and hence without having to remember how many times to type TAB in alt+tab to switch to that particular konsole window you were on before. You just type the shortcut corresponding to the screen that particular window is on. This is especially useful when you have three or more monitors and when you can interact with application windows without the mouse. These can be Konsole windows, browser windows with Vivium extension enabled or whatever. Luckily the option itself has not been dropped, so adding "ActiveMouseScreen=0" in [Windows] group in kwinrc actually re-enables "Switch to Screen" shortcuts but I am afraid that this feature will be definitely dropped in Plasma 6.1. I really hope not so. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. In Window Management kcm, under Window Behavior, select "Separate Sreen Focus" 2. In Shortcuts kcm, under KWin, add Meta+F2 as a shortcut to "Switch to Screen 1" to actually switch to your second monitor. 3. Press Meta+F2 OBSERVED RESULT The focus will not be switched to your second monitor and a popup appears: "The window manager is configured to consider the screen with the mouse on it as active one. Therefore it is not possible to switch to a screen explicitly. " EXPECTED RESULT The focus should be switched to "Screen 1". https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484901 Bug ID: 484901 Summary: Indicate whether reboot is needed in system tray icon Classification: Applications Product: Discover Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: Unspecified Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Notifier Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: tempqd...@mailinator.com CC: aleix...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Currently, you can't tell from the tray icon whether a restart is needed for the available updates. The icon always shows a circular arrow surrounding the big up-arrow. This circular arrow iconography is used in the "reboot system" icon, so it's a bit conflated here. What if we split it into two icons: * Updates available: just an up-arrow (or up-arrow with closed circle surrounding it) * Updates available and reboot required: up-arrow with circular arrow surrounding it That way, you can tell at a glance whether a restart is needed, and you can infer whether changes will take effect immediately or only after restart, increasing predictability in behavior. An obvious solution would be to exclude known devices such as this G15 from the list of matches, but where could we get a list of "bad matches" to ignore? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 483687] [Windows] [Since 4.3.0beta1] Canvas shortcuts break when other applications try steal focus or listen to global shortcuts
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483687 --- Comment #6 from Tyson Tan --- Weixin PC Client (微信 PC 客户端): https://weixin.qq.com/ https://pc.weixin.qq.com/ Weixin PC Client appears to be Electron based. The following behaviors break Krita's canvas shortcuts: 1) The Login of Weixin PC Client bringing up its main window above other apps. 2) The chat dialogue has an "Emotion" button. Clicking this icon to open the Emotion GIF list. 3) Clicking "Mini Programs (小程序)" icon on its Left sidebar opens a special dialogue window. 4) Clicking "Channels (视频号)" icon on its Left sidebar opens a special dialogue window. There is no known workaround for Weixin except avoiding the actions above. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483687 --- Comment #5 from Tyson Tan --- Dingtalk (钉钉): https://www.dingtalk.com/ https://page.dingtalk.com/wow/z/dingtalk/simple/ddhomedownload#/ This app seems to be Qt based. It has Qt 5.15.11 libraries in its installation directory. The Starting up, Login Sequence, New Message Notifications seemed to break Krita's canvas shortcuts. After turning off all of Dingtalk's global hotkeys, I was unable to reproduce this issue anymore. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 483687] [Windows] [Since 4.3.0beta1] Canvas shortcuts break when other applications try steal focus or listen to global shortcuts
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483687 --- Comment #3 from Tyson Tan --- To add to my discovery in Comment 3: In my initial report Description and Comment 1 I said I was only able to reproduce the issue with Sogou Pinyin Input Method. This turned out to be inaccurate. In reality, almost every popular Instant Messaging app in China was affected. This includes: 1) QQ (the old 9.7.x branch) 2) Dingtalk 3) Weixin These apps require Chinese ID to register an account, so it's not practical for the Krita team to test them. I will include what triggered the issue in these apps below. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484894 Natalie Clarius changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INTENTIONAL --- Comment #2 from Natalie Clarius --- This is an intended change with Plasma 6.0. The rationale was that if you're not running on battery, there is not much need to knowing how much you have left. And we want to keep the system tray clear with only items that need your permanent attention or interaction. If you want to always see your battery status even when plugged in, you can set the applet to Always shown in the system tray configuration. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It would make sense to me if this is the issue, since I haven't heard about this issue from anyone else (except for zxq5). Most people probably just leave the floating panels on by default, and therefore never encounter a problem. Still, its only been hours so I will report back if anything changes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[gwenview] [Bug 482195] Gwenview fails to open large images
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482195 --- Comment #11 from Oded Arbel --- (In reply to Sjoerd from comment #10) > But this problem is not with very large images. I have images in my library, > some only 6 mb big, which I currently cannot open with anything but GIMP. When we talk about "size" here, we don't mean "file size" - we mean "image size" i.e. how much memory it takes to hold the uncompressed pixels of the image. You have to remember that image file formats are usually highly composed. A 6MB JPEG image is quite a large file and probably contains a file with more than 100 megapixels. > And GIMP does not show the warning, it just opens it. GIMP has a higher limit (I think 400MP or something like that) and when it encounters it, it will show a dialog box and will let you override the limit. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[konsole] [Bug 484890] URL hint numbering has offset
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484890 --- Comment #1 from Frank Steinmetzger --- Addendum with a different observation. I just viewed a message in mutt and wanted to open an address from the message. This time the numbering started at 1, but the offset was 2. In detail: The mutt sidebar showed two local paths at the left edge (like /var/spool/mail), which got the hints 1 and 2. And then there is one URL in the displayed mail, labelled 3. But I need to press Ctrl+1 to open it. At first I thought this happens because the URL appears a few lines above the two paths. So I mocked it in an editor and moved the URL around, and I still had to press Ctrl+1 when the URL was below the paths. Are local paths perhaps skipped? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

So that's clearly a bug. Removing the ability to do it is one path to fixing the issue, but I don't actually see a problem with making it possible. Sometimes it's good to have multiple ways to accomplish something in the interest of increasing discoverability of the feature. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
