On the android app go to the device screen (before you select the remote
touchpad plugin), press the three dots button and tap settings. There you can
edit settings for every plugin.

Spotify doesn't expose that feature in MPRIS (the protocol we use to control
media players), so we can't do it.

It would be nice if you could reach out to them and ask for better MPRIS
support: the more people who complain the higher chances to get it :)

Another (easier) solution that wouldn't require changing the protocol would be
to display them also in alphabetical order in the desktop plugin settings. This
would work regardless of how they are stored and sent internally.

This might happen due to the permission of your sd root directory. We don't
know of a fix yet (unless, maybe, you have a rooted phone and can change the

Changing the protocol should be done in a backwards compatible way, and I don't
think the benefit is worth the hassle. Let's use this patch for now, so at
least we have the commands sorted on the side you use them.

If you send new patches, it would be good if you use http://reviewboard.kde.org
instead, as it's easier to discuss code changes there :)

I think they are shown in the order you define them in the desktop (which
shouldn't be based on the uuid). If we want to sort them, shouldn't we be
sorting them on the desktop side so the ordering is the same on both sides?

That is normal, it won't activate because you can't run commands on your phone.
You can run them *from* your phone though, so the opposite plugin is likely
enabled.

The app in the Beta channel of the Play Store now has the default SMS app
notifications disabled, so they don't appear at the same time than the SMS
plugin notifications. Can you test if this works for you?

If you use a different SMS app, it would be nice if you can test if disabling
its notifications from the notifications plugin config fixes the problem. If it
does, please tell me which SMS app you use and I will add it to the list of
ignored notifications.

- We show the app icon next to the name.
- Some apps can now be disabled by default.

I've found that this can happen if you upgrade KDE Connect in the case where
you still have the old version of the daemon running, but you launch the new
version of the system settings module. Most buttons won't work because of the
version mismatch (especially if you upgrade from a really old version like
0.8), but killing the daemon (ie: kdeconnectd) or just logging out and in again
should fix the issue. I don't think this is worth a fix, and, in any case, the
fix should probably come from the distro's side by adding a installation script
which kills the old daemon when installing a new one.

If you kill the kdeconnectd daemon and launch it manually, you will see the
output on the console. To launch it, note that it is installed in
"/usr/lib/libexec/kdeconnectd" or something exotic like that.

Also note that the daemon is DBus activated, so it might restart automatically
before you manually run it if something tries to contact it (eg: the plasmoid
or the system settings module).

Well, apparently SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5 and SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA are
supported and you should be using them as you are on Android < Lollipop, right?

I'm now uploading a version which will print all the available ciphers when
there is an "SSL3_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:no shared cipher" error. When you find a USB
cable, can you paste here the new output from logcat? It would be awesome if
you can find out which ones are shared between Android and your desktop, and
see if enabling them in both sides fixes it.

Did you build from git branch '1.x' sources? I just merged it into master in
case you where building from there (I forgot when I first pushed the fix).

Maybe we can add a wider variety of allowed ciphers... We decided on a specific
set of ciphers precisely to make sure it would work on as much devices as
possible, but with so many Android phones out there it is easy some might not
support any of them. It is hard to debug though. Do you guys know how to
compile the Android and desktop apps from sources? This way maybe you can test
different ciphers yourselves.

I understand the distributions problem, it is indeed a big problem for the
Linux ecosystem and something we should change... but not something we can do
as developers. What I recommend you is to ask your distribution's packagers for
an updated version of KDE Connect: this way not only you but lots of other
users will benefit from the upgrade. A more radical solution would be to switch
to a distribution with more up-to-date versions.

Android might decide to kill an app if the app is not in foreground and the

Even if we remove this log message, you would have to update KDE Connect for
you to get the fix... Which defeats the point of it because if you update KDE
Connect you won't see the message telling you that you are using an old version
anyway. 

Please use a recent version of KDE Connect, that's the reason the message is
there in the first place.

What SMS app are you using? It works for me with the default one in Cyanogen,
and in some other phones that I have tested, but it might not with other
specific SMS apps. There isn't much we can do about it, though. You could
report it to the developers of your SMS app.

Also, as of now there is no way to send an sms without replying.

You might want to unpair the devices and pair them again with 1.0 to see if
that fixes the problem. If it does not, it might be what you are saying: a
compatible cipher mismatch.

The version 0.9 used a different encryption mechanism, so that's likely the
reason it works after downgrading.

That is true for every notification in Plasma, so maybe it could be implemented
in the desktop for every app. Maybe it could be done so clicking the
notification copies the content, or maybe adding a small copy button... in any
case, reassigning to Plasma as I think it is a good idea (and not the first
time somebody complains about it in KDE Connect).

sshfs (used by kdeconnect) doesn't create the "." nor ".." entries, and hence
it also shows this problem. I've opened a bug on their tracker [1] for them to
fix it.

In any case, this might happen in many other filesystem implementations, so I
think our old behaviour was more robust. Should we consider this a regression?

KDE Connect uses a locally mounted sshfs, and still Paste there appears
disabled from Dolphin (even though drag'n drop works :/). The bug can't be in
the KIOslave as in this case there is none involved.

I've tried making the same change and didn't work... 

Note that the kdeconnect KIOslave just redirects you to the mount point in the
local filesystem after mouting it with sshfs, so it's probably not something we
can fix just by changing parameters in our KIOslave.

Even if you don't use the kdeconnect KIOslave at all, the mounted filesystem
doesn't let you paste. KIO bug maybe?

It looks like you are using an (old?) compiler that doesn't support c++11 by
default. You will need to add "-std=c++11 " in the CXXFLAGS parameter in Cmake

Pushing an update to the Play Store, that I hope will fix this bug. 

I'm not pushing it to F-Droid yet, because F-Droid only keeps the last 3 APKs,
so if I start publishing new versions you won't be able to download 0.9 from
there.

Can you run kdeconnectd from the console (should be in /usr/lib/kdeconnectd or
something like that, make sure to kill the existing process before starting the
new one) and tell me if there is any error message in the console when you try
to mount the device?

What's the desktop version of KDE Connect you are using? That might be key to

To implement this feature we use sshfs, which has made some changes that broke
us. The version 1.0 of the desktop client for KDE Connect will fix this.

This is a known issue and has already been fixed in Android master, but was not
released yet because it only happens if you use kdeconnect-kde master. It works
well if you use the stable kdeconnect-kde version. Will publish the fixed
version to the Play Store and F-Droid later this week.

I would say this is a Plasma issue, but it might even be like this by design.

I've pushed another version to the play store, once you receive the update, can
you tell us if it's still broken? Also, can you specify which distro and

As I told you, this feature is not in its final form.  However, since Ubuntu is
already distributing it for some reason,  I'm thinking about releasing it as it
is. 

Note this won't be as feature-complete as dedicated solutions, at least for
now. We don't do any gps location detection or something fancy like that, just
ringing your phone so you can go and pick it up.

Then, there should be two buttons in the top-right corner of the plasmoid, am I
right? One will open the file browser and the other will do nothing. The one
that does nothing will trigger the "find my phone" feature in a future: we just
need to release a new Android app.

The Find My Phone plugin shouldn't be published yet. Where did you see it, on
the phone or on the desktop? Also, are you using your distribution's packages,
or compiling kdeconnect yourself (that would explain why you have it :)? When
it's ready, it will be in the Plasmoid.
