[kphotoalbum] [Bug 487415] No more viewing tiff files

2024-05-23 Thread Alex6
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487415

Not tried 32-bit.
In Kpa:
tiff 8bit indexed before plasma6 work (thumbnail + viewer)
tiff 16bit indexed before plasma6: thumbnail visible, no viewer
every new tiff files added since plasma6: not indexed, no thumbnail

Gwenview or okular: tiff 8 and 16 : normally "thumbnailed" and viewed, not 32.

A distribution problem within KDE/QT 5/6 ???

Console message trying to view tiff 16:
unknown file: data corrupted at 2
unknown file: data corrupted at 2
unknown file: data corrupted at 2
QImage::scaled: Image is a null image

To create an  xbit image with Gimp: Image->Precision-> 8 / 16 / 32 bits ...
then File->Export

Hi , thanks for your quick reply

I use most often 16 bits tiff, no longer recognized by kpa since my upgrade to
plasma6. So I hadn't noticed that kpa normally handles 8-bit tiff files.

Kpa shows thumbnails made from tif 16 bits before this upgrade, but doesnt show
them in viewer.
(Gwenwiew or Okular show these tif 16)

Kpa refuses to index new tif 16, compressed or not (no error messages when kpa
started in console)

Best regards

I agree. The benefit of this padding would be to have a margin to isolate the
displayed image from the screen border.

> I suppose you would like an option to specify a (persistent) zoom level
> across images?

No.

Let's take an example:
A "panoramic" image (16/9), whatever the actual size, displayed on a 1920*1080
screen with current kpa viewer:
- 16/9 landscape: image displayed 1920*1080 px
- 9/16 portrait: image displayed 607*1080 px

With a display area 1200*1060 px on the same screen
- 16/9 landscape: image displayed 1200*675 px
- 9/16 portrait: image displayed 597*1060 px
which reduces the display gap between "portrait" and "landscape" images

Happy Christmas ( even posthumously !)

[kphotoalbum] [Bug 478942] New: Polishing full screen viewer proposal

The "full screen" view displays images at maximum size, both horizontally and
vertically.

A display zone using a central area in the screen, of a size chosen by the user
(the rest of the screen being filled with the display background color) would
make it possible to:

- 1) avoid the not always pretty confrontation of the displayed image with the
"hard" screen border (keeping a small margin between image and screen edge)

- 2) limit scale breaks between "portrait" and "landscape" images, particularly
with the trendy "super extra ultra wide" displays

Thanks to KPA on behalf of my 30,000 photos & images!

[kphotoalbum] [Bug 475976] Path of files for KPA->openwith->Gimp

2023-10-27 Thread Alex6
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475976

Hi,
I'd say it's a (minor) kpa bug that concerns:

- kio-fuse users (I don't know exactly what kio-fuse is for)
- users of distributions which, like Manjaro, install kio-fuse by default.

Personally, I've wasted a lot of time waiting for my images to load or save
with gimp, and thanks to your help, finding the origin and solution of the
problem.

Thank you for your attention and availability!

Long live kpa, a software that is indispensable to me, and which perhaps
suffers from a lack of visibility...

Hi,
I have tried to uninstall kio-fuse...
But ( in Manjaro ) plasma-workspace depends on kio-fuse...
And a DIY uninstall of kio-fuse (which I don't know how to do) would last until
the next update.

My Manjaro versions:
KPA 5.11.0
Plasma-workspace 5.27.8
Gimp 2.10.34 (same behavior with 2.99.x)
No flatpak & Co.

Cheers

Hello,
Changing a shortcut and click "ok" works only if no scheme exists, in kpa as in
other KDE apps.
In KDE shortcut settings dialog, there is no indication that a scheme is used
nor default scheme, that is a bit confusing...
Save a new shortcut with Manage Schemes->More Actions->Save Shortcuts to Scheme
is for me a bit confusing and complicated too!
Shortcuts modifying is normally not a daily task!!!
But this is a KDE, not Kpa problem, excuse me for this false bug.

... But why "hard-coded" shortcuts in Kpa, totally configurable sc would be
better?

Thanks for all
Cheers,
Alex

Issue 1: ok... universal configurability is for me better...
Issue 2: nur "ok" geclickt, hatte nicht "schemes->more actions->save shortcuts

"scheme" per user nützen?

There was no anticonstructivism in my comments (on the contrary!) to the people
who try to rebuild Konqueror. Thanks, David Faure (and eventual coworkers) !!!

But, it's true, a little caustic concerning the decision to "kill" konqueror
and spend work to write a kde-thunar with less features...

Never understood the reason of Dolphins existence (copy other file browsers?)
Now Dolphin has not yet the features of Konqueror Kde 3 version...
Try to use webdav and web browser and file browser in the same Dolphin splitted

Not understood the above comment (but thanks for the quick reply)...
I am only a simple user, compiling gimp 2.9 is the top of my competence.
When will gimp 2.9 xcf files be usable in gwenview / kphotoalbum?

With xcf (from gimp 2.9) file:
in gwenview: thumbnail visible, "loading image failed" if I try to view it.
in kphotoalbum: white thumbnail, nothing happens if I try to view it.

No problem with xcf from gimp 2.8, nor with current image files.
