In setting there is also an option now to select the latex engine to be used.
Select xelatex or lualatex and try to render cyrillic letters.

I cannot see the copies of the expression since the output is complete broken
and I cannot even recognize the expression.

This error seems to be related to "latex entries" only. Latex output of usual
command entries is printed correctly.

[cantor] [Bug 364759] New: Cannot handle saved files without the corresponding backend properly.

2016-06-25 Thread Alexander Semke via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364759

Bug ID: 364759
Summary: Cannot handle saved files without the corresponding
backend properly.
   Product: cantor
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: fil...@kde.org
  Reporter: alexander.se...@web.de
CC: alexanderrie...@gmail.com

In case the corresponding backend is not installed and the user tries to open a
file produced on another system where this backend was available, Cantor
doesn't handle this case very well. See "steps to reproduce".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a file for a backend that is not available on the system.
2. Cantor reports problems with initializing the modul and the dialog with
"session is being initialized" never disappers. After hitting the cancel button
in this dialog, there is still "computation is running" message in the status
bar. The outputs in the opened file are not shown correctly.

Expected Results:
Cantor should report the missing backend, show the saved file correctly and
disallow any computations in the worksheet. The file should be opened in the
read-only mode.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Functions with multiple parameters get in the variable manager an entry for
each parameter

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Define functions via
f1(x):x
f2(x,y):x+y
f3(x,y,z):x+y+z
and observer the created "variables" in the variable manager.

[cantor] [Bug 363607] New: Import statements pollute the variable model

2016-05-27 Thread Alexander Semke via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363607

Bug ID: 363607
Summary: Import statements pollute the variable model
   Product: cantor
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: python2-backend
  Assignee: fil...@kde.org
  Reporter: alexander.se...@web.de
CC: alexanderrie...@gmail.com

Importing of python modules leads to new entries in the variable model. Looks
like an entry is created for each addition import within the modules being
imported. The user expects to see in the variable model only variables created
by himself. Any internal details of used modules are of interest or of any
usage here.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a python session and do "import numpy"
2. in the variable manager observe new variables with the names "numpy", "sys",
"scipy" and "matplotlib"

Currently, variables defined in one session are also visible in all other
python sessions created later. This is not the expected behaviour of a
"session".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start a python session
2. create a variable, for example a=5
3. start another python session
4. observe the existence of the variable "a" in the second session

looks like you tried to import numpy and scipy in python3. Did you install
those modules for python3 on your system? Can you start python3 in the terminal

[cantor] [Bug 363553] New: Octave output is not parsed correctly

2016-05-26 Thread Alexander Semke via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363553

Bug ID: 363553
Summary: Octave output is not parsed correctly
   Product: cantor
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: octave-backend
  Assignee: m...@noughmad.eu
  Reporter: alexander.se...@web.de
CC: alexanderrie...@gmail.com, fil...@kde.org

The variables added to the variable model have empty strings as values.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a row vector a=[1 2 3] or a column vector b=[1;2;3] and observe the
changes on the variable model. Looks like the line breaks at the beginning and
at the end of octave's output string are not handled correctly in Cantor.
2. this problem also exists for large vectors where pagination is used to
display the elements. To see this, create a vector for example with
big_vector=1:100

[LabPlot2] [Bug 361326] Unable to select curves by clicking on it.

2016-05-26 Thread Alexander Semke via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361326

The problem exists for curves which have overlapping bounding boxes. For
example, create a plot and add two curves defined via a math. equation -
f(x)=sin(x) and f(x)=cos(x) and plot them from x=0 to x=1. It is not possible
to select the sin curve if you click on it beyond x=0.8 since it is covered by
the cos curve in this region that is drawn on top of it. However, it is
possible to select the underlying sin-curve if you click somewhere below x=0.8
where there is no overlapping.

2016-05-23 Thread Alexander Semke via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 363445
Summary: Octave variables with the suppressed output are not
recognized
   Product: cantor
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: octave-backend
  Assignee: m...@noughmad.eu
  Reporter: alexander.se...@web.de

Currently, variable definitions in octave ended with ';' are not recognized as
variables in Cantor.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start new octave session in Cantor
2. create a vector via a=[1 2 3]
3. the variable "a" is shown in the variable manager
4. create a vector via "b=[1 2 3];
5. the variable "b" is _not_ shown in the variable manager

Expected Results:
the variable "b", created as expected above, should be shown in the variable
manager
