And another addition/observation (hoping that this helps narrowing down where
the problem could come from): I now closed a few other windows (especially
those on the left monitor) and suddenly Goland takes mouse inputs again - even
on the main screen.

Now I have it happen to an open Goland instance. Moving it to my left monitor
it works, moving it back to the main monitor and it's immediately "broken"
again. I can Meta+Left-Click to move and Meta+Right-Click to resize, but
otherwise the mouse only interacts with the window "below". Keyboard input is
forwarded (i.e. I can navigate using the keyboard and also type stuff), though,
as long as the window has focus.

I have that happen quite a lot. I also can't find a way to fix the IntelliJ
window, besides moving it to my left-most monitor, so I assume there might be
some scaling included.

My setup: 100% scaled 1280x1024 on the left, 125% scaled 3440x1440 on the
right. The right one is the main monitor.
I typically have IntelliJ in the left-half-quick-tile block of the big monitor.
I also have multiple virtual desktops I switch between.

Switching focus a few times between different windows, it can happen that
IntelliJ can't focus anymore. Mouse-over and click events seem to "fall
through" to the window below. Moving the window to the other monitor fixes it
in the meantime. Moving it back sometimes works for a while and then fails
again. I haven't had it fail on the left-most monitor yet. As long as the
window was there, all was fine.

I can currently reliably reproduce it with Hell Let Loose using Proton 9 on
Plasma 6.0.2 on ArchLinux. Once ingame, the mouse hits a barrier and then
starts jumping around, making it impossible to aim at anything. Works fine on
X11. It also doesn't matter if I play it windows or fullscreen. (It can be
reproduced in the training ground; one doesn't have to join a multiplayer
game.)

Elder Scrolls Online behaves a bit different: when I start the game, the mouse
jumps every few seconds, turning my camera almost 180° around. Switching the
game to window mode (alt+enter) and back fixes it, though.

[frameworks-knotifications] [Bug 481069] Consider re-adding the feature to execute commands in notifications

2024-03-19 Thread Andreas Schneider
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481069

As initially said that this is something for power users, I think using as the
command: /home/me/foo.sh %t

with foo.sh:

#!/bin/bash
TITLE=$1

echo "$TITLE"

should really not be a challenge for a power user. There is no need for option
parsing if you're the only one who controls this.

If you really need all of those variables to make a decision what to do in the
script. Then you're advanced enough to quickly code up option parsing in your
bash script. It is a 30 line switch statement in bash. Providing the expansion
on the command line allow you to use them with already existing executables.

Is it possible to use username & app password somehow or could it be

[Akonadi] [Bug 435216] New: With the latest update my server is running at 100% and memory is growing 2MB per second

2021-04-01 Thread Andreas Schneider
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435216

Bug ID: 435216
Summary: With the latest update my server is running at 100%
and memory is growing 2MB per second
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: server
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@cryptomilk.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

With the latest update to version 20.12.3 on openSUSE Tumbleweed, akonadiserver
started to run at 100% on one CPU core and my memory is growing ~2MB per
second.

I've tried

heaptrack -p $(pidof akonadiserver)

but it is directly crashing my akonadiserver.

OBSERVED RESULT
Server running at 100% and growing memory (2MB/s)

EXPECTED RESULT
Should use just a tiny bit of my CPU and not grow memory.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed with Plasma 5.21.3
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 20.12.3
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I'm @asn:matrix.org or asn[m] on Freenode IRC. I would appreciate help how to
debug this.

2020-08-13 Thread Andreas Schneider

Is it just me being lucky or could this bug indeed be gone after an update of
the nVidia driver?
I upgraded the nVidia driver from version 44.100 to 450.57 a few days ago and
couldn't observe the crash anymore.

Yes, this is only for listing directory contents.

In the meantime we have smbc_readdirplus2() which addresses some bugs created

[systemsettings] [Bug 403580] Formats only offers invalid locales for German (en_DE)

2019-01-25 Thread Andreas Schneider
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403580

The issue probably is that KDE sets LANG or LC_* variables to locales which
don't exist. So all terminal tools like 'ls', 'git' etc. are printing warnings
that I use locales which don't exist.

It looks like that Qt uses cldr, however glibc doesn't support all locales of
cldr. Also it is strange that it doesn't offer de_DE which is the only
supported locale by glibc.

2019-01-25 Thread Andreas Schneider
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403580

Bug ID: 403580
Summary: Formats only offers invalid locales for German (en_DE)
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.14.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_formats
  Assignee: se...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@cryptomilk.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

My system is set to en_US.UTF-8. However I would like to use change Region,
Numbers, Time, Currency etc. to a different locale. In my case it is German. So
if I search the list for Germany, it only offers me en_DE for Germany and that
locale doesn't exist. If you look through the list not only the locale for
German is completly bogus also for others.

Compare it using 'locale -a' on a console which gives you a list of supported
locales.

Other examples: ksh_DE doesn't exist. So I don't know what this is even coming
from. However if I select en_DE then LC_* is set to it and all tools run in a
terminal will give you a lot of warnings that invalid locales are used.

I'm on Fedora 29, plasma is 5.14.4

SUMMARY

The slave is doing opendir/readdir/close to get the file name list.

At this point we're actually already fetching all required info to satisfy a
stat via SMB2_FIND_ID_BOTH_DIRECTORY_INFO.

With the release of Samba 4.9 there is a new smbc_readdirplus() available. This
will return all the stat information we already collected for the directory.
This significantly will reduce roundtrips which slows down traversing the
directories.

2018-11-27 Thread Andreas Schneider
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399167

I can more or less reproduce the multiple merge canditates.

I'm connected to an imap server over a slow VPN connection. I have "Download
all messages for offline use" selected.

When I read the Inbox and delete a mail, I press 'Del' and the message is gone.
Then a sync with the imap it triggered automatically. The sync makes the
message appear again and them it is removed again.

If I read the next mail and want to delete it. I press 'Del' however the sync
to imap was trigger and I hit 'Del' while the old message reappears I send a
delete for that message twice! Now the there is a 'multiple merge canditates'
issue for Trash.

I would suggest to move to libssh 0.8.4 (security release).

libssh provides cmake config files:

Bug ID: 399167
Summary: Akonadi enters deadlock state which makes it

   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

SUMMARY

Every few weeks, akonadi runs into a deadlock state, the console output is:

org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Creating/updating items from the akonadi database
failed: "Multiple merge candidates, aborting"
org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Error during ItemSync: "Multiple merge candidates,
aborting"

It doesn't tell me in which mail account nor folder this is happening. To get
my mails back into a working state, I have to completely remove the database
any synchronize all my mails.

Sometimes after some time I see:

org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: DATABASE ERROR:
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: DATABASE ERROR:
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Error code: "1205"

( PimItemTable.id = ? ) )"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Query: "UPDATE PimItemTable SET atime = ? WHERE (

There is no way to solve this without deep akonadi knowledge.

2018-09-21 Thread Andreas Schneider
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398574

There is a feature in OpenSSH which we don't implement yet. They check the
known_hosts file for the keytype to the server we want to connect to. If there
is one, then they put that at first position of the preferred keys to negotiate
with the server. This way the client and server settle on that key.

Workaround: Use the 'HostKeyAlgorithms' config option an select the key you
want to use. ed25519 is better than ecdsa.

2018-09-21 Thread Andreas Schneider

Ah, yes. libssh prefers ed25519 and OpenSSH prefers ecdsa.

Host *.kde.org
  HostKeyAlgorithms
ecdsa-sha2-nistp256,ecdsa-sha2-nistp384,ecdsa-sha2-nistp521,ssh-ed25519,ssh-rsa

Will give you the same order as OpenSSH and it should work.

Harald, the error you get is about libssh negotiated a ed25519 key with the
server but then found a ecdsa key in the known_hosts file. I guess it works if
you use ed25519 which I really would recommend over ecdsa. However we need to
check if we need to keep all keys sent by the server and cycle through them.

Oh sorry, this is about known_hosts. However in libssh 0.8 the known_hosts API
has been rewritten but kio_sftp is not using that yet. This will be fixed soon.

My WIP branch is:
https://gitlab.com/cryptomilk/kio-extras/commits/asn/master-sftp

I will finish it once libssh 0.8.3 is out.

Hi Nate,

I don't really understand what you mean exactly. The individual patches are as
small as possible and easy to review as the only address one issue at the time.

Do you want that I create a branch for each bug which gets addressed?

That's the only thing which would make sense to further split them up.
