[kdenlive] [Bug 361597] Firewire capture not working in version 15.12.1

If you are not going to support firewire anymore, the least you could do is
provide the .9.10 version in with all dependencies rolled up into a
tarball. Using a command line program gets problematic when you have many
tapes to transfer. All those powerful features are useless if you can't
get your content into the program.

I was hoping there would be a path to down grade back to version 0.9.10
just to be able to use the firewire capture. I am having trouble finding a
package with all the dependencies included.

[kdenlive] [Bug 361597] Firewire capture not working in version 15.12.1

Please get it back in when you are able. As you know, there are few
options to import from firewire in Linux. The command line option is there
but is unruly to setup. The only other option I have seen is an old
editing program called "Lives", however, I have been unable to make that
work so far. And Kino only does standard definition.

Thanks

[kdenlive] [Bug 361597] New: Firewire capture not working in version 15.12.1

2016-04-10 Thread Andrew Fomin via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361597

Bug ID: 361597
Summary: Firewire capture not working in version 15.12.1
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: fomin.and...@gmail.com

Firewire selection not latching in configuration. There is no record monitor
window in the main GUI or selection in the drop down menu. Also, there is no
response to capture device selection in the configuration wizard.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try selecting firewire in the capture configuration. In my case, I select
the HDV option.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
No connection with camcorder. No record monitor window in gui to select the
connection.

Expected Results:
The gui should have a record monitor window as in previous versions.

Please do not drop this feature. There are many people that still use tape
based camcorders or have large DV libraries. There are few practical options
in Linux to capture HDV. I have tried LIVES and found it crashes right away.
Kino is hasn't been supported for years and has no HDV capture option.
I have used this option in Kdenlive .9.8 and .9.10 often. If possible, can you
make these versions available for download until the issue gets resolved in the
latest version?
