https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473169 Ben Opp changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ben@eml.cc --- Comment #1 from Ben Opp --- broken reminders make Kalendar close to useless for me because not being reminded means I'll forget the event - hence the "grave" tag -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kalendar] [Bug 473169] New: Reminders for new event are not saved
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473169 Bug ID: 473169 Summary: Reminders for new event are not saved Classification: Applications Product: kalendar Version: 23.04.1 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: grave Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: claudio.cam...@kde.org Reporter: ben@eml.cc CC: c...@carlschwan.eu Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 160842 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=160842=edit multiple reminders added, impossible to change time SUMMARY *** When creating a new event, there are only two options for a reminder: a) not to touch it and stick with the default 15 mins or b) try to change it and get "at time of event". Regardless of selection, reminders are not saved. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a new event 2. The reminder is set to 15 min by default 3. click on the selection bar and select any amount of time 4. Reminder is always set to "at time of event", regardless of actual selected time 5. Additional reminders can be added, but also only for "time of event" 6. if adding a second reminder to the default one, this also can be set only to time of event 7. The maximum number of possible reminders to set is therefore 2, but: OBSERVED RESULT No reminders are saved at all, regardless of setting one or two. EXPECTED RESULT 1. multiple reminders should be possible 2. the user-chosen time of reminder should be honored 3. all reminders should be saved. [kalendar] [Bug 451206] Set default reminders, and default reminder time
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451206 --- Comment #2 from Ben Opp --- I just edited the title to say reminderS (plural), hope that's okay (change it back and let me know to open an extra bug ticket). In fact, I normally set 3 reminders for every event. I.e., I'd like to request Kalendar to be able to remember a default *set* of custom reminders, for instance 1 hour, 2 hours and 1 day before the event. My phone's calendar has it, so I never have to manually set a reminder when saving a new event. (Currently, reminders are't working at all for me, opening a separate bug) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kalendar] [Bug 460620] New: When creating a new event fails because of calendar backend problem, only error message is shown, event discarded
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460620 Bug ID: 460620 Summary: When creating a new event fails because of calendar backend problem, only error message is shown, event discarded Classification: Applications Product: kalendar Version: 22.08.1 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: claudio.cam...@kde.org Reporter: ben@eml.cc CC: c...@carlschwan.eu Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 152961 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=152961=edit Screenshot of error message SUMMARY *** When creating a new event fails (because of calendar backend problem), only error message is shown, event discarded *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have a calendar synced to some cloud, but the backend is unavailable or something is wrong with it. 2. create a new event for that calendar. 3. Click "Add" in the Add Event dialogue. 4. I get an error message saying "Error creating the calendar entry. Error message is "Invalid parent collection". 5. Hit OK on that. The "Add Event" dialogue is gone. OBSERVED RESULT I spent a few minutes typing in the details of that event, maybe searching the location on the map, editing the description, adding reminders etc. Now, because of the backend error, I have to type it all again, the information is gone. EXPECTED RESULT I get notified of the backend error, but the "Add Event" window stays open. Ideally, I get to opportunity to save it locally, even though it cannot be synced to the cloud. I get the chance to investigate the backend problem without having to retype everything when it's fixed. Instead, the locally saved event would just get synced at the next opportunity. Else, I can choose a different calendar/backend to save the event to. [korganizer] [Bug 195180] Reminder presets - save reminders and enable/disable per event/todo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195180 Ben Opp changed: What|Removed |Added Version|4.2.4 |5.19.2 Platform|Ubuntu Packages |Manjaro CC||ben@eml.cc --- Comment #1 from Ben Opp --- I also would like to see a default set of reminders that is just set whenever creating a new event, and can be disabled/removed with own click. As a bit a of an ADS candidate (calendars are our best friends), I typically just put 3 reminders for any and all events: 1 day, 2 hours and 1 hour before. It's a bit of a simpler ask than OP's I believe, but also half way there, so could be considered a milestone. Currently, Korganizer actually has this, but with just one default reminder (https://superuser.com/a/1468188/403260). On a possible roadmap: - my requirement could be a next step, simply adding the option for more default reminders in that exact menu ( Menu -> Settings -> Configure KOrganizer -> Time and Date -> Default values -> Enable reminders for new events / to-dos). - The next IMO would be to make that one easier to find (what is it doing under "Time and Date" and behind five clicks?). - Further steps would lead up to OP's idea of several groups of default reminders (important, leisure, etc.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kate] [Bug 374485] Modified Icon Should Act as "Quick Save" or Add Save Button
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374485 --- Comment #8 from Ben Opp --- Well no other app indicates the file has been modified by displaying a save icon - that's also pretty non-standard. I'd guess that most people intuitively see it as a prompt to save yr work, which is a good idea. Who said we can't introduce a non-standard way of doing things every now and then. But if you do wanna stick to standards, I also vote to replace the save icon with a *. Just gotta make a decision -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kate] [Bug 374485] Modified Icon Should Act as "Quick Save" or Add Save Button
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374485 Ben Opp changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ben@eml.cc --- Comment #6 from Ben Opp --- I think the save icon should be a save button. I like that it shows up only after modifying the file, and it's in a convenient place for a save button, it should just do that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
