I've noticed that certain folder icons in Breeze don't respect the accent
color.

Icons I've noticed in include folder-design, folder-drawing, folder-chart,
folder-presentation, and folder-notes

Another strange thing is, the correct accent-colored icon will appear in the
properties dialog, just not Dolphin.

The correct icons also appear in the XDG portal, it's just a Dolphin issue as
far I've observed.

Part of KMail's UI seems to 'get stuck' on the last colorscheme it updated to,
and not update in colorscheme uniformly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set colorscheme to breeze-light
2. Open KMail
3. Set colorscheme to breeze-dark

OBSERVED RESULT

Part of the UI (the mailbox selector and the message list) does not update it's
colorscheme

EXPECTED RESULT

The whole UI's colorscheme will update correctly

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
OS: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.112.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All other KDE apps I've tried, such as Dolphin and Kate seem to handle changing
colorschemes while it's running gracefully, both minimized and visible. So It
appears to be unique to KMail.

If a certain amount of icons are in the Icons Only Task Manager so that they
don't fit on the panel, instead of resizing, one icon will disappear from the
Task Manager. Switching to the app has no affect. Opening another app will
cause the icons to resize as expected, and the missing icon reappears. Closing
one app also results in the missing icon reappearing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open enough apps so that one icon disappears from task manager
2. Open one more app

OBSERVED RESULT
One icon will disappear from the task manager

EXPECTED RESULT
Icons in task manager will resize accordingly to fit

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
OS: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.104.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I believe it's exacerbated by the fact my Icons Only Task Manager is centered
on my panel, but the same thing can be done with it in any position on the
panel, so long as enough icons are present.

I have recreated this issue on multiple computers, running different OSes, but
the same Plasma/QT/FW versions.

It affects both X11 and Wayland the same.

[kwin] [Bug 470766] Search bar in Overview causes Desktop to Freeze (X11)

2023-06-10 Thread Braelin Michelus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470766

I can provide some additional details.

It seems to specifically be the calculator feature in the search bar that
causes plasma to freeze.
That one seems to cause the errant behavior 100% of the time.

Sometimes the desktop will freeze before exiting, and the overview will
disappear, leaving behind a blank unresponsive desktop.
Other times you'll need to close the overview before the freeze occurs.
Clearing the search entry before exiting has no affect.

Again, sometimes the plasma session will restore within 30 seconds, other times
it stays frozen indefinitely.

When the desktop 'freezes', transparency effects will stop and translucent
elements become completely opaque.
All windows will disappear, and no inputs will respond. Media playback will
audibly continue, but no windows are visible irreguard of whether they were
before the freeze.

Attempting to restart the session from a TTY by __restarting SDDM__ results in
the next plasma session taking minutes to load, remaining on the splash screen
for around 2-4 minutes. Once the desktop does load, everything will work,
except KWin will not load.
Attempting to manually start kwin from a terminal with __plasmashell
--replace__ has no effect, it will just hang indefinitely.

I can provide a video if that will help.

It will occasionally, but very infrequently. So much so that I've learned not
to rely on it.
This is one of the few times where plasmashell/kwin doesn't seem to restore
itself.
Only reason I reported this is cause it's such a pain to reboot my system every
time this happens, constantly losing work.

Using the search bar in the Overview will 7/10 times cause KWin and/or
Plasmashell to crash.
It doesn't happen every time, but if you use it enough, the desktop will
freeze.
The compositor clearly dies, as transparency effects disappear, but the whole
desktop is still visible,
and the cursor still moves, so I know it's not the display server freezing, but
clicking on anything does nothing.
Not the panel, desktop icons. Keyboard shortcuts also do not respond. No task
switcher or xkill either.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Overview effcet
2. Type anything into search bar
3. Exit Overview

OBSERVED RESULT

The desktop freezes; stays visible, but icons and keyboard shortcuts do
nothing.

EXPECTED RESULT

Search results to display

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: Archlinux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.106.0
Qt Version: 5.15.9
Kernel Version: 6.3.2-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Graphics Processor: Mesa IntelĀ® HD Graphics 610

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Bizarrely, if you restart plasmashell (killall plasmashell && kstart5
plasmashell), the desktop will come back, but KWin will not restart. And
plasmashell --replace has no effect. So I'm not certain if it's plasmashell,
KWin, or both that's crashing.

This is specifically related to the Overview effect, as regular Krunner works
fine.

I've experienced this bug ever since my system updated to 5.27.5.

[kwin] [Bug 458902] New: Task Switcher defaults to Breeze style after theme change

2022-09-08 Thread Braelin Michelus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458902

Bug ID: 458902
Summary: Task Switcher defaults to Breeze style after theme
change
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.25.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-tabbox
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bmichelu...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
The Task Switcher resets to Breeze whenever the Plasma theme changes.
Oddly this only affects the primary switcher, as the alternative does not
reset.
This is obviously a minor nuisance, and there is a serviceable workaround.
However, I've been dealing with this issue since 5.21. Been a long time, not
fixed.
***
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set Task Switcher to anything other than Breeze (Such as Thumbnails)
2. Switch Plasma theme (such as Breeze Light to Breeze Dark)
3. Use Alt+Tab shortcut to activate Task Switcher

OBSERVED RESULT
Task Switcher uses Breeze style

EXPECTED RESULT
Task Switcher should use whatever style was set by the user

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
OS: Arch Linux (x86_64)
Plasma: 5.25.5
Display Server: X11
KDE Frameworks: 5.97.0
Qt: 5.15.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This has been a major nuisance ever since Plasma 5.21.
I use a custom shell script to change my shell theme
from Breeze Light during the day, to Breeze Dark at night.
So I have to constantly change my Task Switchers back to
Flip Switch and Thumbnails when my theme changes.
Now, I have found a workaround, to swap the keyboard shortcuts
for the primary and alternate Task Switchers,
however that is a workaround, and not a permanent solution.
This is an issue that should be resolved in a future update.
