Sorry, my misunderstanding. I thought that since the status says "Resolved
duplicate of 336990",that meant this one was resolved as well. Or maybe I
misunderstand the meaning of the status field? Anyway, thanks for your
clarification.

If this old bug has already been resolved then why is it still appearing more
than 6 years later? What is the solution or how do I fix it, Please?

[dolphin] [Bug 428864] Save Session Does Not Properly Save Dolphin Desktop Location

Note: all other apps are restored to their proper desktops. Dolphin is the only
one not restoring properly*

*The Google Chrome browser has not worked properly for years - never restores
on startup although it does open on proper desktop when started manually. But
then that's another story ;)

[kde] [Bug 428864] New: Save Session Does Not Properly Save Dolphin Desktop Location

2020-11-08 Thread David Allen

Summary: Save Session Does Not Properly Save Dolphin Desktop
Location
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: codermo...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After having saved a session, which includes Dolphin, unpon restarting KDE, two
instances of Dolphin are opened: one on the proper desktop, and another on
desktop 1 (upper leftmost of of a grid of 8, 4 columns x 2 rows).

Deleting the redundant instance (desktop 1), and re-saving the session does not
change the startup behavior.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place all running apps in preferred desktops and locations
2. Save Session
3. Shut down and restart

OBSERVED RESULT
Saved instance of Dolphin is properly located on saved desktop and location. An
additional instance of Dolphin is located on desktop 1.

EXPECTED RESULT
Only one instance of Dolphin should be opened on saved desktop and in proper
location. No other instance of Dolphin should be open on any desktop.

Created attachment 113139

Photo of app waiting to execute screenshot.

Here is a photograph of the app waiting for me to hit to take the shot.
The cursor is apparently on the lower right corner of the (invisible) border of
the region.

There is no border. The screen does seem to subtly change tint. I'm now sure
how to get a screenshot before the actual screenshot. ;)

When I select "Take a New Screenshot", a dialog box appears center-screen
"Click anywhere...". (In fact, I tried to take a screenshot then, but the app
locked up the desktop, and I had to switch to another console to kill it.)

At that point a cross cursor appears, followed a few seconds later with the
screen seeming to dim a bit. I and click-drag the cursor to create a rectangle,
although the borders for it never appear. Hitting takes the shot. After
which the app reappears showing a preview, which I can save.

Unlike Ksnapshot, there is no option to save an image to any disk location
other than the user's Pictures directory. I don't use that directory. In fact I
don't even have it. Please add the standard file save dialog, including "Save
as" option.

App must be restarted for each subsequent snapshot. Not the same behavior as
Ksnapshot. This can be tedious for multiple grabs.

When using "Rectangular Region", guidelines for the area, if any, are not
visible. So I have no idea exactly what area will be grabbed. And I have no
apparent ability to adjust the initial area before taking the screenshot.

The screen seems to dim, but I have no idea what that means.
