[dolphin] [Bug 478829] New: Enhancement: When copy files, option to copy them only if size is smaller but same name.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478829 Bug ID: 478829 Summary: Enhancement: When copy files, option to copy them only if size is smaller but same name. Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: elias__0...@yahoo.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Linux debian bookworm 12 Enhancement: When copy files, option to copy them only if size is smaller but same name. Sometimes computer may hung for different reasons. I dont know why, but dolphins appear to make temporary files before write the file properly in position. However, in practice, i had many files that were half-copied in size and not as whole. Also, when you have torrent files, they tend to get bigger if you have not preallocated the space to them. So,i think this enhancement -quite easy i think to be implemented- will make copy safer. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE -- Not sure --- Maybe try to send write /read calls for a HDD, try to delete trash open terminal to download many files in same hdd send many files to trash using dolphin. Frequency of bug often :( OBSERVED RESULT Dolphin (through KDE ?) is creating uninterrupted calls ("D" in htop), which cannot be killed for Trash.so. I turned off and then turn on on the disk that there was the problematic "process" and then process continued. I could run Dolphin again, but when pointed to the specified HDD that there were the trash.so "D" processes, was hanging as a "D" state too. I Tried even to kill plasma and restart (it showed as parent process). Didnt work. I had >10 processes in state of "D" most related to Trash.so and the other ones to Dolphin. EXPECTED RESULT To not create such calls SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Frameworks 5.80.0 Qt 5.15.2 (built against 5.15.2) The xcb windowing system Distributor ID: Debian Description:Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) Release:11 Codename: bullseye ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I dont know how to update dolphin to newer version in linux. https://ibb.co/KVtq38J -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
