Bug ID: 478829
Summary: Enhancement: When copy files, option to copy them only
if size is smaller but same name.
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: ---

Linux debian bookworm 12

Enhancement: When copy files, option to copy them only if size is smaller but
same name.

Sometimes computer may hung for different reasons.
I dont know why, but dolphins appear to make temporary files before write the
file properly in position.
However, in practice, i had many files that were half-copied in size and not as
whole.
Also, when you have torrent files, they tend to get bigger if you have not
preallocated the space to them.
So,i think this enhancement -quite easy i think to be implemented- will make
copy safer.

I have a faulty usb hdd.
I have observed that when this usb hdd disk is connected it takes time to
navigate to other usb hdd disks while this is not true when this disk is not
connected to the system.

I dont know if this is a bug of dolphin, linuix system... or whatever.
However i think this must not happen to a modern system. A faulty disk must not
delay the access to other disks.

For example this does not happen in pcmanfm file browser, midnight commander

Copying large number of folders (1000+) (to two different HDDs) with many
subfolders, when info bar finished of process of movingfolders, its like that
some operation occurs but dolphin looks like freezed - you cannot do any
operation - only after some minutes (2-3m in my system).

So what such operation is? Cleaning inodes? Tidy up folder information?
Why info bar of moving folders dont report it?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. move from HDD sda to HDD sdb large number of folders with subfolders eg.
1+
2. Wait to show the infobar of movement that process is finished
3. Try to eg. create a new folder... u cant, u must wait 2-3m (depend on the
machine power) until some "hidden" operation by dolphin is finished without
reporting it to user which may feels distressed.

OBSERVED RESULT

dolphin is like freezed after info bar report finish move of folders

EXPECTED RESULT
to report hidden operation in order user to know what is happening

Bug ID: 457218
Summary: Dolphin is creating uninterrupted calls ("D" in htop),
which cannot be killed for Trash.so.
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 20.12.3
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
 -- Not sure ---
Maybe try to send write /read calls for a HDD,
try to delete trash
open terminal to download many files in same hdd
send many files to trash using dolphin.

Frequency of bug
often :(

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin (through KDE ?) is creating uninterrupted calls ("D" in htop), which
cannot be killed for Trash.so.
I turned off and then turn on on the disk that there was the problematic
"process" and then process continued.
I could run Dolphin again, but when pointed to the specified HDD that
there were the trash.so "D" processes, was hanging as a "D" state too.
I Tried even to kill plasma and restart (it showed as parent process). Didnt
work.
I had >10 processes in state of "D" most related to Trash.so and the other ones
to Dolphin.

EXPECTED RESULT
To not create such calls
