Moreover, sometimes killing kwin_x11 doesn't help. New instanse of kwin_x11 may
be frozen right after start.

The same trouble on debian testing for last half of a year.
Currently: 6.0.0 kernel, kwin_x11 package 4:5.26.4-1, i915 GPU (and nvidia as
secondary).

[Powerdevil] [Bug 443165] New: Need configuration parameter for /sys/class/backlight

2021-09-30 Thread John Fox Woland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443165

Bug ID: 443165
Summary: Need configuration parameter for /sys/class/backlight
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: 5.21.5
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: fox+...@woland.me
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I have two backlight interfaces: intel_backlight and nvidia0. Both of them have
'raw' types. Powerdevil uses upower backlight helper that just reverse sorts
all available interfaces and picks the first one. There's no possibility to
point it to use the right interface. So in my case, it just picks nvidia0
interface while intel_backlight actually used to change brightness.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Any laptop with to backlight interfaces with the same priority (type).

OBSERVED RESULT
use the last one from the list of interfaces with the same priority.

EXPECTED RESULT
use configured backlight interface if any.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Lenovo Legion 7i (GPU: intel + nvidia)laptop.
