[systemsettings] [Bug 340982] No way to change just the date format but not its actual translated text

2023-10-06 Thread Ken Fallon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340982

To be 100% clear, the work that the teams are doing and the amount of time and
effort involved is appreciated.

It is also reasonable to ask for a bug like this to be fixed. If you're not
going to fix it then fine. The solution of "RESOLVED UPSTREAM" is not correct
when the bug in question is marked at the QT side as "Unresolved". I would
suggest INTENTIONAL, or NOT A BUG would better reflect the status.

As a side note Thunderbird had a similar discussion which is now resolved.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1509096

My suggestion of a #4 rolling your own was very serious. I would appreciate
someone helping me with a beginners guide to creating a custom locale for the
different distros.

I think there is a fourth option.

Apologies for the delay. I installed two other distros to check the issue

I confirmed that the problem is NOT in version 19.12.1 on Fedora release 31
(Thirty One), and also NOT in version 17.12.3 on GalliumOS 3.1 (ubuntu 18.04)

It is also NOT a problem on a clean install of Fedora release 32 (Thirty
Two)20.08.3

The issue is still present in Version 20.08.3 Fedora release 32 (Thirty Two)
I did notice that when I pressed ALT it placed an Underscore under the "A" in
"Replace All".

I confirmed that LXQT does not have Alt + A assigned.

I did notice that when I pressed ALT it placed an Underscore under the "c" in

I too am suffering from the multi monitor issues. However frustrating it may
be, I can't but feel that the developers are not doing this on purpose.

@Developers, is there anything we can do to provide you more information to
identify the issues causing the problems ? Is there a check-list or some script
we can run through to gather the required information ?

[plasmashell] [Bug 376534] New: quicklaunch

2017-02-16 Thread Ken Fallon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376534

Bug ID: 376534
   Summary: quicklaunch
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugs.kde@kenfallon.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

The option to "Edit Application" is not available on applications QuickLaunch
widget placed in the panel/aka tool bar/space beside the menu.

For example add options for example changing start up options:
kate -b %U
to
kate -b %U /home/me/*.txt

Steps to reproduce:
Find an app by typing (kate) in the K menu.

Right click and select then "Add to [Desktop|Panel|Launcher]".

On the Desktop and Launcher, right click the new icon and edit the application
properties.

In the Panel right click and there is no option to edit the application
properties.

Workaround is to add application to the launcher > edit it > add it to the
Panel from there.

Summary: KDE bug logging requires detailed underlying knowledge
of every aspect of KDE.
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugs.kde@kenfallon.com
  Target Milestone: ---

In some cases it is obvious (eg kate, kmail) but in others it depends on where
the dialogue is been used.

K > Help > Opens the Start Page > Help > Rebort Bug

Presents a list of 502 Applications.

It is not reasonable to expect anyone, neither mortal or kde developers to know
which "application" to choose.

Possible solutions:
- Add tool to allow bug reporter to identify the
application/componenet/widget/libary that is causing the problem.

In both the Viewer and message list. Basically anywhere the date is displayed.

If there is a configuration option to set the date to ISO8601 from within
KMAIL, then it is not obvious.

if there is not a option to set the date to ISO8601 from within KMAIL then this
is a bug.
