I would also love such kind of implementation. Under Windows I am using
ScreenToGif very frequently and I think this would be a great addition to
Spectacle. As far as I understood there "just" needs to happen an additional
step after the video recording which takes the frames and creates the GIF out
of it.

So for example if using ffmpeg would be an option a simple
ffmpeg -i "$source_video" -filter_complex "fps=15" -an "$output_gif"
could do it.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 393664] Implement WakeOnLAN

2018-07-01 Thread Marijo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393664

First aof all I would need to connect my devices lets say my PC with my
smartphone. While pairing KDE Connect (app side)would save the MAC adress from
my network card and could provide me later on with a list of all devices I had
it connected to at least once and also show me if they are reachable (ping) or
not.
If they are not we could assume that those devices are offline and if their
last known ip adress belong to our current network an option would become
available "wakeup" which then would send a magic packet (therefore the MAC
adress needs to be known) to the network and wakeup the device if available and
supported.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake-on-LAN

Let me know if further informations are required.

You guys did a great job specially with the option to create own commands which
can be triggered from my smartphone. I use this a lot to power my PC off at the
end of the day. Of course it would be cool to have an option also available to
power my PC on the next day. Here WakeOnLAN comes to my mind. So would there be
any chance to save the last IP or Hostname from the connected PCs and send them
the necessary network package to power them on, even when kde-connect does not
have established a connection yet (becuase my PC is off) ?

New Bugzilla

The first time I visited bugs.kde.org I was quite shocked of the look and feel
from this site. I know that the functonallity is quite more important than the
design but it nowadays it looks so damn old. I would like to modernize the
look, similar to what was did to kde.org itself. Attached is a screenshot, of a
new design which could be achieved with very small adjustements (was made out
from the developer tools in Chrome). I would really like to help with this,
edit the stylesheets for example (I'm quite experienced in this subject) but
some changes would also require to edit some of the pages itself (rearrangement
of the buttons underneath the search)

My first intention was to use a tooltip but I think the best way to display
this information would be via the status bar while hovering over the restore
option. "Restore foo.bar to /home/user/Documents/"

Yes restoring items can be tricky but I don't like your solution because it
would mess up the context menu, which could become quite too wide and won't
look aesthetic anymore.

This bug is quite old now ... I am not sure if I get the bug right. Does "copy
files over 16GB" mean one file with this size or a bunch of files with a total
size of >= 16 GB? If it would be the last case then I can say that I don't have
any problems nowadays and I copy a lot from smb shares to my attached drives.

[dolphin] [Bug 389735] New: Make panels behave like dynamic containers which can be filled with different models

2018-01-31 Thread Marijo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389735

Bug ID: 389735
Summary: Make panels behave like dynamic containers which can
be filled with different models
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mustacmar...@hotmail.de
CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Regarding the disscussion and my post on the following patch:
https://phabricator.kde.org/D7700
Here is the announced bug for it.

Dolphin supports quite some nice panels and the places panel gets more and more
informations which could be shown, places, drives, last searches and the patch
above should include tags in this list.

So I'm just going to copy my post from phab here because it explains exactly
what this "bug" is for:

We should not put everything into the places panel nor should it be a sperate
panel ... sound weird ? Well ... I like the idea of having different panels for
different working scenarios but the static job they were created for is not
ideal, altough we can hide groups from the panel now. My idea is to be able to
add one ore more panels which would be just a container which then can be
filled with different views / models ? (Like toolbars) So for example I can
create a panel by my own, give it a name and customize it to show a list of
tags and shortcuts for my saved searches for example. Then another panel could
contain my device list and the default places section and a third one to
contain the directory tree. That way I would be able to switch very quick
between them, don't need to scroll or reconfigure my panel over and over again.
Maybe someone can follow me and what I am trying to describe. Dolphin then
could offer some preconfigured panels by default but let the users all
possibilities to customize it wahtever they like. Easy by default, powerfull
when needed.
