I get the same issue when I hover over a file in Folder View, list mode, for
truncated file names. I'm pretty sure I reported this once and it couldn't be
reproduce it in Plasma 6, but it seems to be the same bug as here. I can
reproduce this in Plasma 6.

[kwin] [Bug 484496] New: Overview should have a toggle for "all desktops", just like the "present windows" effect

It would be nice if the overview effect had a toggle (shortcut) for showing
windows from all desktops since it would allow a very simple way of moving
arbitrary windows around to different desktops without having to use the
desktop grid. At the moment, one has to move to the desktop the window is on to
move it to another desktop, using the overview effect.

[kwin] [Bug 475077] Show non-linear virtual desktop arrangements again

Michael D changed:

The spatial layout doesn't have to be represented in the overview effect.
What's important is that the user has all features available that the overview
effect is supposed to provide, e.g. moving windows to different desktops, etc.
Making certain important features available only under limited circumstances
unknown to the user doesn't make sense.

I would suggest forgetting about trying to represent the spatial layout and
keeping the desktop bar as it was. This is much less confusing than what is
currently implemented. Even under a 2x2 layout, e.g., one knows which desktop
is the 1st, the 2nd, etc., so the linear representation is not confusing.

Widget hanging off panel

When you open a widget on the panel it "floats" (i.e. is detached from) the
panel only when the panel floats. However, it would look better if it floated
no matter what for many reasons, one being that if the panel is small (e.g.
when set to fit content), the widget can "hang off" the panel, which looks
strange. If it floated it would look perfectly fine. (See the attachment.)

No border on open edge of toolbars

There are no borders on toolbars, panels, and the like (e.g. search bars) on
the "open edge" which doesn't look good to my eye. (What I mean by "open edge"
should be clear from the attachment.) In firefox and thunderbird, e.g., if you
open the find/search bar, there is a nice light border on the top of it to show
that it's separate from the window content. I think the same style should be
implemented in breeze.

I have the same issue. With some windows it is not easy to see that they "fall

Sorry, the problem is not what I thought it was. The problem is that search is
case sensitive. If the file is called "Carroll and the Tortoise.pdf" and I
search "tortoise", it won't return a result, but I will if I type "Tortoise". I
think this is a bug in any case as a search for recent files shouldn't be case
sensitive.

The search algorithm for recent files is not very "smart" and requires knowing
the beginning of the filename. E.g. if the file is called "Carroll and the

anything but "carr" will.

When the system is idle, the wayland compositor crashes and takes down all

Wayland compositor die?"

Perhaps relatedly, I also have several of the following errors:

It would be nice if the filter bar would automatically pop up once you start
typing to filter a string. At the moment hitting a letter key, e.g. 't', moves
to the next entry beginning with 't'. I suspect that this feature is not widely
used and that initiating the filter bar would be far more useful. This is how
nautilus functions, for comparison.

[konsole] [Bug 467681] New: Move find/search bar to bottom for consistency

2023-03-22 Thread Michael D
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467681

Bug ID: 467681
Summary: Move find/search bar to bottom for consistency
Classification: Applications
   Product: konsole

  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: nortex...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

In pretty much any KDE app I can think of (e.g. kate, okular), initiating
search brings up a bar at the bottom of the window. For consistency, it would
be nice if konsole worked like this. One benefit is that options can be access
via one click rather than having to access them via a menu, and the width of
the search field extends the window (minus the option buttons).

pdf.js thumbnails in firefox

The completely black border look outdated. More modern designs don't have such
harsh borders, e.g. pdf.js in firefox or Preview for macos. I've attached a
screenshot of Firefox's for comparison.

It might also be nice to have an option to remove page numbers from appearing
above thumbnails since they take up a lot of vertical space. Maybe hovering
over a thumbnail could show the page number.

I wanted to request just that, since capitalize also capitalizes words you
normally wouldn't, such as articles ('the', 'a', etc.) and prepositions ('of',
etc.) I was hoping most of this work had already be done elsewhere and could be
imported into an intelligent capitalization system in Kate, but I suppose not.

The recent files plugin returns non-existent files as results and throws out an

In comparison to other popular cursor themes (including Adwaita), the default

On wayland, when I connect an external display, often the wallpaper "crashes"
and only a black background is shown. The panel and other plasmashell
components work just fine. I cannot right-click the desktop to bring up the
menu. Restarting plasma brings it back, but sometimes you need to click on the
black to show the image, and then unfocusing the desktop makes it show black
again. Eventually it goes back to normal.

Not working for me on a clean install of version 22.04.3 of Kate (on Manjaro).
I had to save the session first before it would load it on startup.

Just came across this issue. I don't think it's a reasonable expectation that

On wayland, if you alt-tab from one window to another on different desktops
using the slide animation, a dark shadow appears around the tabbox. If before
the slide animation is over you invoke the tabbox again, you see this very dark
shadow which abruptly disappears after the animation finishes.

I could take a video if the text description is unclear.

Often when I connect my external display plasmashell crashes and cannot be
reloaded. When attempting to run it from terminal I get the following error:

kf.plasma.quick: Applet preload policy set to 1
qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()
qml: PlasmaExtras.ScrollArea is deprecated. Use PlasmaComponents3.ScrollView
instead.

The Wayland connection broke. Did the Wayland compositor die?

If I disconnect the external display plasmashell starts up again. If I
reconnect the external display it crashes with the same error.

The display configuration kcm also will not load when this bug is present.

As of recently, my display configuration is no longer remembered in a wayland
session (it works fine on X11). The problem is worsened by the fact that often
when connecting an external display, plasmashell (hence the display applet) and
the display configuration kcm crash, making it impossible as far as I know to
alter the display configuration.

On wayland, is it possible to force a configuration from the terminal? I want
just the external display to be powered.

For many, this is a must-have feature. Adobe Acrobat has it and it immensely
useful when looking through one's mark-up to see where comments are. One could
highlight in different colors: e.g. one for highlighting which don't contain a
note and another for those that do, but this is very inconvenient.

I understand, but it's still not in an acceptable state, if you ask me. I also
don't think it should be demoted to a wish since it impacts usability and is
poorly designed. The size need being reasonable is what my first screenshot
shows is false, but in any case, why should a usable interface depend on a
window's width being a certain size when the window is allowed to have a
smaller width?

I would suggest replacing text with icons for a start, since that's easy to
implement.

The weather information often doesn't refresh after resume or at login so it

This likely belongs to another wish report, but I would propose adding a header

buttons.
