Is this expected behaviour or a bug then ? In my 4:21.12.3-0ubuntu1 kmail
version the preview pane loads everything as expected. But why is opening a
separate window (double clicking on an email) getting this separate behaviour ?

[plasmashell] [Bug 359653] it is not possible anymore to overlap widgets, instead they resize

Can this be reopened ? It may be intentional design but I think it should be
more flexible. I'm designing a widget that actually requires overlapping for
it's function (see https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=17=175149 ). The
default behaviour probably makes sense (ie, the "intentional design"), that's
fine. The logic that happens when I put a widget on top of another is really
nice. The widget sort of "drops" to the side and becomes smaller. But it needs
a toggle somewhere to toggle snapping to grid on/off and overlapping widgets
on/off.

Have had this problem as well. Also possibly related to not being able to force
overlap of widgets. Would love to develop for this. Can any experienced KDE
devs point me in the right direction ? Cheers.

Eh ? There are are plenty of Samba guides out there.

BTW that's not an important password. Don't worry about it.

[okular] [Bug 454693] New: Okular throws error when saving to mounted Samba share

2022-06-01 Thread Michael Freeman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454693

Bug ID: 454693
Summary: Okular throws error when saving to mounted Samba share
   Product: okular
   Version: 22.04.1
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: PDF backend
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: mich...@michaelzfreeman.org
  Target Milestone: ---

  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149373=edit
Part file name.

SUMMARY

NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Load a PDF over a CIFS mounted Samba share which is working properly (I can
save a modified text file using Kate to the same location without getting this
error).

2. Try and save modified (highlights) PDF over itself which gives ...

---
Could not open
file:///media/michaelzfreeman/michaelzfreeman-home/Michael_Z_Freeman_Docs/Docs/Forge/ShipYards/Operations/Joshi
Project/forty_years_of_the_law_180_the_aspirations_of_a_great_reform_its_successes_and_continuing_need.pdf.
---

3. Then the PDF is closed and Okular shows a an empty document.

4. Examining the save location shows a ".part" extension added to the end of
the PDF. When this is removed the PDF opens as normal and even has the added
highlights showing that it actually saved OK.

OBSERVED RESULT

A successfully saved PDF but with ".part" extension.

EXPECTED RESULT

Saved PDF with normal PDF extension.

problem in version 21.12.3 of Okular installed by jammy installation.

OK. It is an issue on Linux because I just got it. I'll create a new issue if
necessary when I try your snap suggestion. Cheers.

[k3b] [Bug 453941] Git repository has many case errors such as "KCDDB/Client" when it's "KCddb/Client"

> k3b master requires kcddb 5.1 also known as 22.04.0 which probably you don't
> have, right?

Well, there you go. The Ubuntu Jammy 21.12.3 has only "KCddb" directory ...

/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/Categories
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/Cdinfo
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/Client
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/Genres
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/Kcddb
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/KcddbConfig
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/categories.h
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/cdinfo.h
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/client.h
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/configbase.h
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/genres.h
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/kcddb.h
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/kcddb_export.h
/usr/include/KF5/KCddb/kcddbconfig.h

https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/amd64/libkf5cddb-dev/filelist

The Ubuntu Kinetic 22.04.1 has both the "KCDDB" and "kcddb" directories,

/usr/include/KCddb5/KCDDB/CDInfo
/usr/include/KCddb5/KCDDB/Categories
/usr/include/KCddb5/KCDDB/Client
/usr/include/KCddb5/KCDDB/Config
/usr/include/KCddb5/KCDDB/Genres
/usr/include/KCddb5/KCDDB/KCDDB
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/categories.h
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/cdinfo.h
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/client.h
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/config.h
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/configbase.h
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/genres.h
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/kcddb.h
/usr/include/KCddb5/kcddb/kcddb_export.h

https://packages.ubuntu.com/kinetic/amd64/libkf5cddb-dev/filelist

Whatever happened to consistent naming conventions ? Anyway, problem solved I
guess.

Apologies for any confusion. I had the error on the master branch -

I don't know what you mean. Your link goes to it. The build script checks for
"Client.h" in directory "KCDDB". However on my Ubuntu system this library
installs to the directory "KCddb" so there is a case mismatch and the build
fails.
