If I change the icons theme, ALL my panel icons will change to that theme. The
last time I changed the icons theme, all the icons became nondescript blobs.
They remained so after I changed the theme back to what it had been. I then
had to change each icon individually. I had and have about 28 icons in
Quicklaunch widgets on the panel.

[frameworks-kwidgetsaddons] [Bug 396037] New: A recent update broke the widget Folder View

2018-06-30 Thread North
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396037

Bug ID: 396037
   Summary: A recent update broke the widget Folder View
   Product: frameworks-kwidgetsaddons
   Version: 5.47.0
  Platform: PCLinuxOS
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: cf...@kde.org
  Reporter: terauck-...@yahoo.com.au
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 113664
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=113664=edit
shows what is now displayed on the panel instead of an icon

Prior to the update, the widget displayed as an icon. Clicking on the icon
(when panel is at top of screen) showed a dropdown list of the folder's
contents. Double-clicking on a file opened the file using the appropriate
application. Now the widget is displayed as a link to the folder and functions
as such so that when you click on it, the folder opens in Dolphin.

Answering comment #2 first, can anyone suggest a KDE application which would
demonstrate the widget style in use?

Answering comment #3, the file ~/.config/kdeglobals is writable. The ~/.kde4
'folder' is a link to the folder ~/.kde.

An example is the dialogue which appears when you open a .csv document using
the Calc application of LibreOffice or OpenOffice. The default options in the
dialogue are filled with colour instead of containing a tick or check mark.
Uploading a .csv document here is not permitted.

System Settings > Appearance > Application Style > Widget Style. Changing the
widget style does not take effect. I have tried with the Fusion and Oxygen
widget styles. Those styles use ticked or checked boxes to indicate when an
option is selected. The Breeze style uses coloured boxes and that continues
notwithstanding the choice of another widget style.

Thanks for all the pointers.
Since it's not trivial to prepare a dev environment for kdevelop *and* work at
the same time ("You have to remove all KDevelop packages provided by your
distribution"), I wasn't able to build/check a fix yet, but I came up with the
following that might work (or not?):

diff --git a/plugins/git/gitplugin.cpp b/plugins/git/gitplugin.cpp
index b56d53d..b78e6bd 100644
--- a/plugins/git/gitplugin.cpp
+++ b/plugins/git/gitplugin.cpp

 if (dir.isRoot()) {
 qCWarning(PLUGIN_GIT) << "couldn't find the git root for" << dirPath;
 }
-
+// is this a worktree ?
+QFile dotGitPotentialFile(dir.filePath(".git"));
+if (!dotGitPotentialFile.exists()) {
+if (dotGitPotentialFile.open(QFile::ReadOnly)) {
+QTextStream content();
+QString gitWorktreeFileContent;
+content >> gitWorktreeFileContent;
+const auto items = gitWorktreeFileContent.splitRef(' ',
QString::SkipEmptyParts);
+if (items.size() == 2 && items.at(0) == "gitdir:")
+return QDir(items.at(1));
+}
+}
 return dir;
 }

(Again: I don't even know if this compiles - and maybe I'm totally off :))
Comments/feedback appreciated.

[kdevelop] [Bug 375849] New: Show annotate on current document doesn't work in a git worktree

2017-02-01 Thread Thibault North
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375849

Bug ID: 375849
   Summary: Show annotate on current document doesn't work in a
git worktree
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: 5.0.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: VCS: git
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: thibault.no...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

The feature "show annotate" that displays the equivalent of the git blame
function works in main git repositories (where the .git/ folder lies), but not
in the git worktrees (see https://git-scm.com/docs/git-worktree ).
In worktrees, a .git file exists (no .git folder), pointing to the main git
folder.
It contains "gitdir: /path/to/the/main/repo".

Kdevelop is not able to follow this link to show annotations.
When calling for annotations, it fails with the message: "Could not annotate
the document because it is not part of a version-controlled project."
