Possibly not relevant, but:
I tested it using a new fully default user account. Under my normal account,
dragging the title bar in step 5 moves the window but does not demaximise it
(isn't 'restore' the correct word?), so I can't grab the window edge to resize.
There must be some setting somewhere...

2024-03-11 Thread Paul Worrall
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483222

Bug ID: 483222
Summary: Strange KCM message when there's a symlink pointing to
a file that's not in the backup plan
Classification: Applications
   Product: kup
   Version: 0.9.1
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: simon.pers...@mykolab.com
  Reporter: p.r.worr...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Create a backup plan that includes a folder containing a symlink that points to
a file that's not in the backup plan

OBSERVED RESULT
There's a warning message that says "The symbolic link is currently
included but it points to a file which is not: ..."

But the symbolic link _is_ pointing to the file it mentions.

EXPECTED RESULT
Probably the message should say the symbolic link points to the file which is not included in the backup plan ... etc.

I'm also on Arch, with the same Plasma/Frameworks/Qt versions but I cannot
reproduce the problem. For me, clicking on the "Ignore" button makes it change

changes back to "Ignore". See screenshot. If this is not what you see, there
must be some other condition to trigger the bug

[digikam] [Bug 474366] HEIC thumbnail rotation

2023-09-11 Thread Paul Worrall
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474366

I experience the problem with many HEIC files.

With digiKam _not_ running on my PC, my wife used dolphin to copy the files
from her phone into folders on a NAS server which is mounted on my PC using
NFS. I have configured digiKam to use these folders as albums (Collection on
Network Share).

I then launched digiKam on my PC and on completion of the "Find new items"
process the thumbnails were displayed. I did not press F5 or Item->Reread
Metadata.

digiKam is configured to keep its database in mariadb on the same NAS.

The instructions for adding an ssh key to your gitlab account
