[xdg-desktop-portal-kde] [Bug 485850] New: xdg-desktop-portal-kde virtual screens hardcoded to 1920x1080

2024-04-20 Thread Paulo Dias

Bug ID: 485850
Summary: xdg-desktop-portal-kde virtual screens hardcoded to
1920x1080
Classification: Plasma
   Product: xdg-desktop-portal-kde

SUMMARY

xdg-desktop-portal-kde as of this writing is hardcoded to only create 1920x1080
virtual screens in wayland.

https://invent.kde.org/plasma/xdg-desktop-portal-kde/-/blob/master/src/screencast.cpp?ref_type=heads#L222

specific line:

stream = WaylandIntegration::startStreamingVirtual(output.uniqueId(), {1920,
1080}, cursorMode);

this might have been fine in the past but we are now using virtual screens more
and more, in my case using META QUEST 3 oculus with immersed in a virtual
desktop streaming scenario.

in gnome, the virtual screens are properly implemented:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/commit/74ab2120fa1c79eed0d2fb872430c0b1c774b5a1

could you fix this implementation and allow for multiple resolution when
triggering virtual screen in wayland plasma?
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create virtual screens (with OBS for ex) to trigger the
xdg-desktop-portal-kde interface.
2. the virtual screen will always be create as 1920x1080, doesnt matter what
you try to input as resolution

OBSERVED RESULT
virtual screen always has 1920x1080

EXPECTED RESULT
virtual screen should allow sane default resolutions

Hi Jack, Thanks for helping,

I'm using Zorin Lite 32bit (is an old netbook ,compaq mini CQ-10), and i've
just opened the file with the same SO an the same KMM. One thing i've just
remembered is that i've used the pendrive where the file is on a windows PC,
before KMM came up with that warning. I will try to install a newer version
of the SO on 64bit PC with the newer virsion of the KMM. Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Paulo Fonseca

I reverted kwin to 5.27.4.1 on my system and confirmed: this fixes the 100%
usage of a single core.
While this problem is not fixed yet, i'm about to create a pull request to
remove the kwin_wayland flood on 5.27 (doing the same way it's already fixed on
master for plasma 6)

Also this makes me wonder about the "if (m_pendingBuffer)":
Is this statement checking "m_pendingBuffer" as fast as the CPU can handle?

If there's no sleep() or even something similar to prevent this, every dropped
frame (m_pendingBuffer == true) will send a lot of "kwin_wayland[1197]:
kwin_screencast: Dropping a screencast frame because the compositor is slow" to
the journalctl and use 100% of a CPU core.

THE PROBLEM:
Recording the screen via OBS + Vaapi is pretty smooth even at 144fps here, but
the main problem (flood from kwin_screencast) is even worse, because if I use
my monitor at 144hz, kwin_wayland starts using 100% of a single core and keeps
flooding for more than ~200 messages PER SECOND, by just launching OBS or
sharing screen on any app.
I also tried increasing rtkit priority of pipewire proccess on it's settings
(pipewire.conf), but the problem still happens.

POSSIBLE ROOT OF THE ISSUE:
So I noticed a possible cause of this problem by looking at a patch from
PortageStuff (URL at the bottom of this comment).
First of all, m_pendingBuffer is being set to true very frequently for some
reason (pipewire fault?), so for every single dropped frame, the if statement
is executing the qCWarning comamnd, which can both stress a CPU core and cause
all the flooding.

SUGGESTED WORKAROUND/FIX:
If possible, for every second doing the screencast, track how much frames has
been dropped and compare it to the target FPS. If more than 60% of the frames
are being dropped, then finally send the kwin_screencast warning, because in
this specific case the screencast performance is significantly worse than it
should!

Hey Albert thank you very much, I just downloaded and built kpat-master and it
seems that it's fixed. Moving aces doesn't crash kpat anymore.
Output of 'kpat --version' is 'kpat 21.7.70'

I just downloaded and built the konsole-master (output of 'konsole --version'
is 21.07.70) with gcc 10.3.0, not 11, and konsole built ok.
Reverse video for selected text is working again as before for 'Linux colors'
color scheme :D thank you very much.
But Dark Pastels still doesn't have reverse video for selected text.

+1

Instead of trying to fix the new behavior, can we get the old one? Reverse
video for highlighted text was working and everyone was used to it.

[konsole] [Bug 436320] New: Highlighted text has dark grey background regardless font color.

2021-04-28 Thread Paulo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436320

Bug ID: 436320
Summary: Highlighted text has dark grey background regardless
font color.
   Product: konsole
   Version: 21.04.0
  Platform: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: pauloct...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In konsole version 21.04.0, when highlight text with mouse left-button, the
font color remains the same, and highlighted background is dark grey.

If you change the color scheme to 'Black on White' and print some text in cyan
[code]echo -e '\e[36;1mtext\e[m'[/code] (or yellow, 33 instead 36), there is no
difference between non-highlighted and highlighted text.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select a text with mouse in konsole.
2. The font color remains the same and background is dark grey (or transparent
if the background color is white).

OBSERVED RESULT
It is very difficult to see what is highlighted.

EXPECTED RESULT
Would be better if highlighted text be the same as the previous konsole version
20.12.3, in reverse colors, e.g. white text highlighted becomes background
color text with white background,
green text becomes background color text with green background, and so on.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Slackware -current (dev branch)

(from Help -> About Konsole -> Libraries tab)
KDE Frameworks 5.81.0
Qt 5.15.2 (built against 5.15.2)
The xcb windowing system

Yes :D try any Freecell variant, it should certainly (unfortunately) crash too.

Those Freecell variants were added with the new KDE applications update 21.04,
that's why I think maybe there is something related.
Before those variants addition, Freecell was running ok.

This?
https://github.com/Ponce/slackbuilds/tree/current/desktop/flatpak

After some commands to download and install things, I think I did it right.
I could run kpat with 'flatpak run org.kde.kpat', it started with defaults
instead my own configurations.
It crashed the same way, I started a Freecell game then changed it to Forecell.
Any card auto-moves with right-click, but right-click on any ace crashes.

Hi Albert, thanks for your reply.
It crashes every time here :/ I also tested in a VirtualBox vm clean install
to make sure and kpat crashes too. I didn't test with another distro.

Slackware strips debug symbols from its packages,
is it enough to build qt5 without strip?

There is a valgrind package for Slackware
https://github.com/Ponce/slackbuilds/tree/current/development/valgrind
is that right?

I'm a pt_BR user so I ran as 'LANG=C valgrind kpat' to translate some messages.
That's the terminal output:

[kpat] [Bug 436181] New: kpat crashes when right-click an ace card to send it upper right position.

2021-04-25 Thread Paulo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436181

Bug ID: 436181
Summary: kpat crashes when right-click an ace card to send it
upper right position.
   Product: kpat
   Version: 21.04.0
  Platform: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: co...@kde.org
  Reporter: pauloct...@hotmail.com
CC: kde-games-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
kpat crashes when right-click an ace card to send it upper right position.
I think this happens since the addition of Baker's Dozen and the Freecell
variants.
It happens on Xfce and KDE Plasma5, so it seems Desktop Environment
independent.
I never saw this crash before in any kpat game.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click on a new game Freecell.

2. If it starts as Forecell (or Freecell), change it to Freecell (or Forecell,
or any other variant)
in 'Settings -> Popular Variants Presets -> FreeCell (or Forecell, or any other
variant)'.

3. On the first free ace available, right-click on it to send it to the upper
right position.
kpat will crash. Dragging it with left-button and dropping it is ok.

OBSERVED RESULT
kpat crashes.

EXPECTED RESULT
Right-click on ace card should auto-move it to one of the upper right
positions.

Sorry for this late comment, but I completely forgot to give my input on this.

Today I've tried with Ark Version 18.4.3 with:
KDE Frameworks 5.48.0
Qt 5.11.1 (built against 5.11.1)

to open a tar.gzipped home folder file (~ 300mb) and tried to close ark, before
the loading is finished.
The app became irresponsive and when the file finally loaded at 100% it
crashed. The stacktrace seems to be unusable.

Error image

I'm using Kdenlive to render an unique video that is the result of joining 9
files in format ".mts". I tried multiple times following the sequence:
- Project > Add Clip > Selection of the clip inside an external HD.
- Repeated this operation 9 times as of our registration required.
- Dragged the thumbnail of the videos to the video channel 3.
- Project > Add clip > Selection of an image as a "front page" of my video.
- Render for hours (10h or so)

and after various frustrating attempts it crashes throwing this error: Missing
reference picture.

Autorename configuration blanked after restart

Autorename Configuration is blanked after kmldonkey is restarted, even though
kmldonkeyrc contains the configuration changed.

I'm running kmldonkey version 2.0.5+kde4.3.3-0ubuntu1 on Xubuntu 17.10.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE IT:

1. Add a rename rule to Autorename Configuration, click on Apply, then on Ok
2. Restart kmldonkey
3. Look at Autorename Configuration: the rename rule will be gone, even though
kmldonkeyrc will still have it

I've attached a screenshot of the Autorename Configuration window, and here's
my ~/.kde/share/config/kmldonkeyrc:

[partitionmanager] [Bug 377232] New: Allow to backup the entire disk

2017-03-05 Thread Paulo Fidalgo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377232

Bug ID: 377232
Summary: Allow to backup the entire disk
   Product: partitionmanager
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: andr...@stikonas.eu
  Reporter: paulo.fidalgo...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

It would be nice to have an option to clone and restore an entire disk, along
with the partitition information. A compression option in this case would also
be very valuable.

I was trying to compile Amarok, but... i can't found the libpthreads ...
cat /home/joao/kde/build/amarok/CMakeFiles/CMakeError.log
...
/usr/bin/cmake -E cmake_link_script CMakeFiles/cmTC_050c8.dir/link.txt

Then i wil try to use the symbols in repository...

Created attachment 99647
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=99647=edit
Check if KWallet is enabled and create a QNetworkManager if not created.

In my environment the KWallet::Wallet::folderDoesNotExist does not check if the
KWallet is enabled and returns a wrong value about it.
The Scrobbler code only creates the QNetworkManager if the getAuthToken is
called.
