[frameworks-activities-stats] [Bug 487385] plasma crashed in KAStatsFavoritesModel::Private::trigger when removing a duplicated discover entry from favorites

2024-05-22 Thread Pawel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487385

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2)
> How did you get two duplicate entries in there?

I have no clue. They have literally always been there but I couldn't get rid of
the dupe (it would always come back AFTER A reboot). I remembered to try again
now that 6.0 is out. Plasma did crash, but on the upside the bad entry is gone
and didn't come back after a reboot.

I can reproduce this as well by launching a game from steam in full screen and
then quitting to desktop. The screen seems to be stuck on the last frame.
Clicking alt tab seems to trigger a refresh and a screen repaint. Always
reproducible with Halls of Torment on AMf hardware.

nothing. I am stuck in icons only view - I can't seem to be able to switch to

[plasmashell] [Bug 469866] New: icons-only task manager's sound icon is shared between spotify and ungoogled chromium

2023-05-16 Thread Pawel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469866

Bug ID: 469866
Summary: icons-only task manager's sound icon is shared between
spotify and ungoogled chromium
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.27.5
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bednarczyk.pa...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install spotify from flatpak
2. Install ungoogled-chromium from flatpak
3. Launch both applications
4. make sure there is no media playing in the ungoogled-chromium browser
5. play a song in Spotify

observed result: the sound icon shows for both spotify and ungoogled-chromium
and clicking the browser's icon mutes sound coming from the spotify app. in
fact the icons seem to be in sync.

no idea if this is flatpak specific.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.106.0
Qt Version: 5.15.9
Kernel Version: 6.3.2-arch1-1 (64-bit)

Hi Nate,

I have not had this specific crash for a long time. Hard to say when exactly
this might have been fixed but I am happy to mark as resolved and reopen in the
future if the crash reoccurs.

Reopening as this crash happened earlier today. This time thee was nothing
about failing to recreate shadow for PlasmaQuick.

I have a backtrace but it appears useless and I am noticing a strange pattern.
Whenever this crash occurs,

> $ coredumpctl list --reverse

shows the backtrace of kwin_wayland is "inaccesible". Executing the above
command with su privileges, I do get the attached.

kscreen-console-bug

this is a follow-up from bug 465536

I have 5 files on my desktop - 3 folders and 2 PDF documents. After wake up
from sleep the 3 folders would disappear (after 5.27.2); I have since added the
2 PDF documents and after wake-up the 3 folders disappear still, but the 2 new
PDF files are present. So in a change to bug 465536 only *some* files disappear
now, but the issue still persists.

longer reproduce this bug using the original clipboard settings. Plasma memory

Resetting clipboard settings to defaults resolves the issue and makes the
memory leak go away.

So one (or more) of the non-default options is causing the issue.

[plasmashell] [Bug 466589] New: plasmashell memory usage grows rapidly and consumes all available RAM

2023-02-28 Thread Pawel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466589

Bug ID: 466589
Summary: plasmashell memory usage grows rapidly and consumes
all available RAM
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.27.1
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic-performance
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bednarczyk.pa...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

screenshot plasma memory usage

I originally posted this in Bug 430139 but Nate asked for a new bug to be
created.

Since very recently (not sure when exactly though) I have observed that the
plasmashell process is consuming more and more memory at a frightening pace
(e.g. usage grows to 22GB in the space of 3 minutes). Killing it doesn't always
help (see video below).

video of plasmashell memory usage growing to 22GB in the space of less than 3
minutes.

I also tried:
1) monitoring the process with memleax but nothing was reported despite growing
memory usage;
2) downgrading to glibc 2.36 but that didn't seem to help

I can reproduce this on Arch Linux plasma 5.27.1 using these exact steps

[plasmashell] [Bug 466320] kpipewire_logging: Window not available PipeWireSourceItem_QML_1025

See also Bug 430139. I suspect the memory leak might be related. As I write
this, plasmashell is consuming 6.8GB memory and the usage is rapidly growing.
