I'm not running Steam, but the screen still turns back on after a few seconds
(when using a Plasma/PowerDevil shortcut). On the other hand, if I use "xset
dpms force off" to accomplish the same, the screen stays off until a key is
pressed (or the mouse is moved).

Confirming, also on Arch Linux after updating to kdialog 16.12.0-1.

Not sure that "default folder" is accurate though. In my case ~/Downloads is
specified as the default save folder in Chrome, but the Save dialog always
opens in ~/Documents.
