Very often Discover searches for updates just after PC startup and KDE opening
in the morning.

I would prefer this in the evening, just before shutting down the PC.

Could you supply the settings of the hour of the search for updates ?

trash_kcm leads to conflict

SUMMARY

we can't modify the trash settings

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right click on trash icon
2. select "trash settings
3.

OBSERVED RESULT

we get an error message

Impossible de trouver le module externe kcm_trash (enable to find the external
module kcm_trash)

EXPECTED RESULT

We can access to trash settings.

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240412
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.7.0

ADDITIONAL DATA

IF we try to install the package, we get conflict between trash_kcm and
kio-core. see the capture.

Fabien Vogt (openSUSE team) says :
It's because both packages provide /usr/share/applications/kcm_trash.desktop.
I guess the only solution is to split the trash kcm away from kio-core.

2024-04-14 Thread Philippe ROUBACH
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485390

I found a workaround.

the source of the problem, not finishing a sync, is "tasks" sync which bloks
all teh sync process.

So in G Calendar and in korganizer, disable the calendar "Tasks".

Now the sync Korganizer ⇆ G Calendar runs well.

2024-04-08 Thread Philippe ROUBACH

Bug ID: 485261
Summary: [wish] kde, minimizing an app in the systray
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.0.3
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

 Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff)
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: philippe.roub...@free.fr
CC: mikel5...@gmail.com, noaha...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

With KDE 4 in KDE menu editor in advanced tab, we get the ability to check a
property "minimize in systray".

This feature disappeared with KDE 5.

This feature was replaced by the app kdocker.

But more and more Linux OS uses by default Wayland and kdocker is not compliant
with it.

It would be a good thing to revival this feature.

Thanks

[kwin] [Bug 483742] wayland, "wmctrl -lx" does not list "QEMU" window

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483742

Thanks

But it's too techie for me.

I use Chrome web apps (G contacts, G Calendar, Facebook). The window of these
apps are well listed by "wmctrl -lx".

I can conclude that :
- Chrome window is a XWayland window and not a Wayland native window.
- QEMU window is a Wayland native window.

Right ?

At logging, the script, to launch the vm, needs to detect the QEMU window
according to minimize it.

Is there a way to workaround the qemu/wmctrl problem ?

SUMMARY

In the past, my s7 was disconnecting after a delay.
At home the s7 uses only Wi-Fi to connect to PC

Now :
- my S7 never disconnects.
- my a34 is disconnecting after a delay.

The two mobiles use only Wi-Fi to connect to PC

What is the difference for my S7 ? I transferred the sim card to the a34 then
there is no more any active mobile network.

What is the relation between kdeconnect and the active/non active mobile
network feature ?

Very curious.

Today, G Drive is a remote folder.
It would be easier to access to G Drive if G Drive is a local folder as One
Drive.

Why ?

Because when we create a document with for example LibreOffice, then we want to
record it then we cannot record it to G Drive because G Drive is not in the
list of the folders we can access. We must record it to a local folder, then
copy it to G Drive.

With KIO One Drive, we can record the document to One Drive folder.

A good GUI is a teacher GUI.
Why not using a text not on the button but beside the option when we select the

2024-02-10 Thread Philippe ROUBACH
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481160

I recommend you to test Adobe fill and sign.
You will experiment that it is very easy to fill and check the different
fields. It is as easy as for a document with a form.
You have to just type in the text fields or click on a check field.

With Okular you must
select "insert text"
put accurately the mouse cursor
draw a zone
type the text
then OK

And :
- the result is not good. You get a bad alignment
- it is slow
- it is tedious
- if you have 3–6 fields to fill, yes you can do it, but if you get a big
document it is impossible.

see the attached document with bad alignment.

See the description of this report.

We can't measure the need of this plugin with my sole case.

[Bluedevil] [Bug 478431] New: [wish] bluetoothsignal strength

SUMMARY

In the networkmanager plasmoïd, display Bluetooth signal strength as done for
Wi-Fi signal when searching or using a Bluetooth connection.

Reason why :

The same reasons as for Wi-Fi :
- it is useless to try a connection with a weak connection
- if I get trouble using a connection and the signal strength is weak, then I
am almost sure the problem comes from the connection.

[Bluedevil] [Bug 460077] Randomly, PC does not connect automatically to a device when opening kde session

2023-12-08 Thread Philippe ROUBACH
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460077

1. Bluetooth speaker.

Trouble : connection fails when restoring the context.

I made this experiment :

Instead of asking for KDE to restore the context, I ask for KDE to just power
on the Bluetooth controller.
I add a login script with these contents:

sleep 15s
bluetoothctl connect

Now, for each login, I get my speaker connected.

Hypothesis : some processes started when PC starts or when opening a KDE
session causes a connection failure.

2. the smartphone

Trouble : connection fails when restoring the context.

I made this experiment :

Manually I run "sudo l2ping" then "bluetoothctl connect ",
then success I get a connection.

Hypothesis : l2ping wakes up the phone, then it is available for a connection.

So when restoring the context, KDE must awake the phone before attempting a
connection.

Hypothesis : some device switches to "wake" state.
Perhaps this is the problem. In the morning when I start the PC the smartphone
and the speaker are in a "wake' state then does not respond to a "connect"
command".
In this case, kde bluetooth must wake up these kinds of device before
attempting a connection.

2023-10-27 Thread Philippe ROUBACH

When exporting with digikam a photo, there is no problem.

When importing with Google photo import tool a photo, the problem is still
there : the title is not imported and the legend is imported in "others" field.

Then 2 hypothesis :
- digikam stores the title and the legend in wrong fields in the photo file or
with wrong name (dikikam does not follow the standard).
- Google photo import tool does follow the standard.
No ?

Classification: Plasma
   Product: Bluedevil
   Version: 5.27.8
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux

SUMMARY
if i try to manually connect my p PC to the smartphone, this fails.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. click on the bluetooth icon
2. click on "connect"
3.

OBSERVED RESULT

After a long delay i get a message saying nothing. only the bluetooth address
is displayed

EXPECTED RESULT

the PC is connected for "audio" and "telephone"

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A very interesting experiment :

first step

I try to connect the PC to the Bluetooth network of the phone (PAN) via
networkmanager plasmoid.
Result : failure because the Pan is not enabled at the phone

second step

I try to connect to the Bluetooth "telephone" and "audio" protocol via
bluedevil plasmoid
result : success !

If we don't do the first step, the second step fails.

Is there something missing in the bluedevil dialog for connecting to the
"telephone" and "audio" protocol ?
