[systemsettings] [Bug 370312] New colours KCM needs far too many mouse clicks to change a colour
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370312 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #3 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- As Olivier said, this change was made on purpose, to have a clearer separation between selecting and editing color schemes. Yes, that makes this particular use-case less efficient. No, we won't change that fundamental system back. Ideas for how to make the scheme editing simpler without sacrificing the clear separation between selecting and editing a theme (so no, no unsaved "current" theme) are still welcome, however. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Qt can tell when it's an actual mouse > click or a finger tap. I know, and my reply was based on that knowledge. Press-and-hold is just not a nice interaction, neither with touch nor with a mouse. [plasmashell] [Bug 368698] Can't explore plasmoids with a touch screen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368698 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #2 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- The problem with "drag only on press-and-hold" is that it makes the widget explorer's main purpose - to add widgets to the desktop or panel via drag and drop - more cumbersome. Drag on hold is nice for cases where dragging is only a secondary usecase (best example being mobile device home screens), whereas here it's the primary one. That said, Plasma Desktop is not focused on touch usage, so having a sub-optimal experience with touch is acceptable. We just have to make sure we don't carry that UI over 1:1 to Plasma Mobile. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 360289] open new task with right click on empty space
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360289 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #3 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- Right-clicking on the desktop gives you "Run Command" as well, and actually it seems more logical to have it in the task manager than on the desktop. On the other hand: I'd rather push for putting Search and Launch in the default panel for improved discoverability and easy accessibility of KRunner. So, long story short: I don't think it would be "wrong", but the benefit it not that big, either. I don't really care that much either way, to be honest. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kscreenlocker] [Bug 368325] Breeze theme/greeter should provide option to show multiple clocks
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368325 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #3 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- Isn't that _very_ fringe case? [kwin] [Bug 368201] Desktop Effect Filter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368201 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #5 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- I would indeed just remove the filter thing. [Breeze] [Bug 368224] In Dolphin's Compact and Details view, my Documents folder looks like a plain document

[plasmashell] [Bug 367586] the icon of the application launcher scales with the panel indefinitely
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367586 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #4 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- The problem is real. Vertical panels tend to be given greater width than horizontal ones are given height, because widgets like e.g. the clock don't work in a very narrow panel. With these widths, the launcher does waste a lot of height (and looks strange). It would therefore make sense to define a maximum size after which it would just receive horizontal padding (as illustrated by Xapient) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

No user would know > about it and it could easily conflict with in application shortcuts. The "no user would know about it" problem could be fixed by the shortcut overlay we're planning. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366300 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #2 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- I think that we should register the transfer job notifications in the notifications KCM, so that users can configure themselves what they want to be notified about. I'd keep notifications for completed transfers by default (non-permanent), though. As for the WiFi: Stefano does have a point: One can easily tell whether the WiFi has been connected yet by a quick glance at the Plasmoid, so why notifying about something which is expected to happen? Currently I see these options: 1.) We try to convince Qt to offer more options or maybe even provide our own patches 2.) We recommend users to use a different locale for date (e.g. the German one has DD.MM.YY) 3.) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359964 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #8 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- The User Agent does indeed reveal more information about the sender's system than necessary (why would one need to know which application in which version on which operating system was used to send an email?). Is there anything that speaks against leaving the User-Agent string completely out by default, or maybe reducing it to just "KMail"? Most email clients do send user-agent information by default, but since the sender's user agent does not really have practical relevance in an email (in contrast to a web browser where the server uses it to apply workarounds for specific browsers' shortcomings, for example), we could just be better then others in that regard. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365071 Thomas Pfeifferchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||thomas.pfeif...@kde.org --- Comment #2 from Thomas Pfeiffer --- We are currently redesigning the Plasma editing experience. There are two options: Either the Widget Explorer (the "thing to add objects") is always at the same place, or it is always next to the panel. That said, I'm not really sure where it should be placed instead. It could be positioned before or after the list, but then of course one less entry would be visible. This might be an acceptable price to pay for the improved clarity, however (and we could then use a text label instead of the icon). And I'm against introducing config options just for showing or hiding UI elements. I'm personally not a fan of hiding the menu button when the panel is locked, but people like Jens apparently are so obsessed with getting rid of any non-essential control on their desktop that they'd be very unhappy if there were no way to hide it, so I suppose getting an extra context menu entry for unlocking is the lesser evil for them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[neon] [Bug 363851] "A stop job is running for Session 1 of user neon" during shutdown
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363851 --- Comment #7 from Thomas Pfeiffer--- Also, in all honesty: Users who need processes to continue running even after logout are _not_ a significant enough portion of neon's target audience to change the _default_ config to better suit their needs. The vast majority of - even KDE enthusiastic - end users only care about their processes as long as they are logged in. They usually only log out to shut down or reboot, in which case none of their background processes would survive anyway. Neon is not Debian, the two have quite different target audiences. That said: I agree that the current KAlarm icon is too complex for smaller sizes. What a Google search for "alarm icon" shows is that the most common metaphors for alarm are either a mechanical alarm clock or a bell. Both are not "modern", but easily identifiable even in small sizes with few details. Maybe we should just stick with the classic metaphors, same as the "floppy disk = save". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
