I'm using the internal MySQL setting.

Are you sure I'm still using the MySQL

when I start Digikma it uses the mysqld from a mariadb folder inside the
digikam package:
   Internal Server Serv Cmd:
"/Applications/digiKam.org/digikam.app/Contents/lib/mariadb/bin/mysqld"
   Internal Server Init Cmd:
"/Applications/digiKam.org/digikam.app/Contents/lib/mariadb/bin/mysql_install_db"

Thx Maik.
But this sounds maybe like a stupid question how do I get Digikam to use
MariaDB instead of MySQL.
I just used the pkg installers and thought those come with MariaDB.

[digikam] [Bug 433850] Not able to delete any tags

2021-03-02 Thread benjcmin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433850

I would be fine using MariaDB, I just installed the rc over my existing
installation. So wasn't even aware there is the "option" of using MariaDB.
Also fine with starting with a complete new DB which I already tried to
accomplish but failed. But that's not a bug but rather a user problem as I just
couldn't find a way to have Digikam start with a clean DB. Just deleting/moving
the old DB leads to an error message, then digikam trying to connect to an DB
which won't happen and canceling the connecting dialog crashes digikam
completly.

After using the new 7.2.0 rc the crashing on startup seems to be fixed. I need
to start over, as I couldn't get the backuped DB to work. Maybe it was even
corrupt before but the fatal error was triggert by using the DB maintenance.

[digikam] [Bug 407958] In Thumbnail View Creation date is not correct

2019-05-27 Thread benjcmin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407958

Hello Maik,

yes MacOS and yes "re read Meta data" did the trick. Date is now displayed
correcty.
I wasn't aware of that function. I though with "refresh" the folder would also
update the Metadata.
Still not sure how that date came in there as it was the change date or maybe
the creation data of the file as I did some Geotagging but there I alwasy try
to preserver creation date of the file.
So the shooting date should have always been a different date and that's what I
thought is displayed in the Thumbnail View.
So not sure if that still a bug or the shown date is the file creation date,
then this ticked can be closed as it's showing the correct date after updating
the meta data.

Cheers Benjamin

2019-05-26 Thread benjcmin

Hello Maik,

I know, but nowhere in the file besides the change date was the date shown
found.

I added a file where this problem occurs. I also changed the changed date with
a tool to match the file creation and shooting date but still shows up with the
wrong date. I updated and restarted digikam aswell.
So I'm a bit confused where digicam takes this date from. And I assume it's
also not just GUI error as the sorting algorithem also uses this date to sort
the photos and so they don't come out in chronological order.

kind regards
benjamin

1. yes right click on macOS does nothing to the video playing in preview
2. XMP info panel in Digikam for the file is empty besides create date
(attachment)
3. rotating does nothing to the preview playback, but it changes the orienation
of the thumbnail only.
4. additionall just found out video won't play at all in full screen mode.

I suppose it's an colouring problem, as text seems not to be really gone
Because when I take another appliaction as active/forground window, text
appears in background running DigiKam window.
As soon as Digikam becomes active again text is not visible anymore.

XMP info is basically empty just creation date.

Rotating via Keyboard short cuts, just rotates the thumbnail and not the
playing video (btw richt mouse click/button does nothing on macos in this case)

Still seems to be some confusion about wheter it's a pure LibRaw bug or some

found a little quirk in the default theme on the tabs in sidebar Metadata (and

On the active tab the text is gone (or same colour as background) therefore not

DigiKam6 Video upside down

Hi
in DigiKam beta1 running macOS 10.13.6 I came across the situation that the
Thumbnail of a Video was in correct orientation but when switching/watching in
preview it's upside down.
Video recorded with an iPhone6s so filetype a MOV (Quicktime).
Further information in DigiKam 5.9.0 both Thumbnail and Video are upside down,
for the same file.

I want to add another information backing this theory.
I tried an earlier version of DigiKam6 in May and it worked.
I just found it still on my Laptop (running the same version of macOS) and
DigiKam Version 6.0.0-git with an Build date May 22 2018 with a Rev
927a5d90b2dde5c76563be7c04a931df71cc0951
KDE Framework 5.45.0
Libraw 0.18.11
and doens't have the crashing problem with the same RAW file.

So it is coming down to Libraw 0.19.x again, I suppose.

I have to see if I can post a good bug report for Libraw, haven't used it as
comand line tool yet and not sure if I can reporduce the error this way.

I did some testing aswell.
Crashing only occures on macOS (10.13.6).
Can NOT reproduce it with DigiKam 6 latest beta and same files on:
Win10 running on ParallesDesktop
Unbuntu 18.4.1 running on VirtualBox

So maybe not Libraw as root cause but something in the macOS package?

So yes it seems it's coming down to the RAW files.
Right now installation from package
digiKam-6.0.0-beta1-20180910T183526-MacOS-x86-64.pkg
is starting without problems but only with a few images and WITHOUT RAW files.

But as soon as I add an RAW image file to the folder it crashs on the same
thread but when I delete the RAW file it starts up fine again.

I would like to add the information, I had an early/earlier release of DigiKam

month ago. Back then I just installed it over the old 5.x version and it
worked. But due to some other issues (regarding trying to use internal mySQL) I
went back to 5.9 (SQlite).
