[kdeconnect] [Bug 486361] New: Quality of Life: allow "Send to Device" share button to send to device immediately if there's only one available

2024-04-30 Thread dauntless
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486361

Bug ID: 486361
Summary: Quality of Life: allow "Send to Device" share button
to send to device immediately if there's only one
available
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Android
OS: Android 13.x
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: android-application
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: 60f31543-f82f-492a-8430-25db5521568b@dauntless.anonadd
y.com
CC: andrew.g.r.hol...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
It's frustrating when I want to send a bunch of links via KDE Connect and it
requires two taps every time - clicking the "Send to Device" share button, then
confirming the device I want to send it to when there's only one device
available anyway. It should directly send to my device if there's only one
available, or at least have a setting to enable this behaviour.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Try to share a link via KDE Connect
2. Have to also select the one device available

OBSERVED RESULT
Two clicks to share each time.

EXPECTED RESULT
Only one click - share should occur immediately without selecting the device.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Connect 1.30.1

SUMMARY
Unlike VLC the minimum window size for Haruna is much larger, which is
frustrating as I like to resize it to be quite small like a PiP window
oftentimes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Try to resize the window as small as possible

OBSERVED RESULT
With my 1920x1080 monitor I'd estimate the minimum is about 850x450

EXPECTED RESULT
No minimum size.

[plasmashell] [Bug 455246] New: Can't fix "Your notebook is configured not to sleep when closing the lid whilst an external monitor is connected"

2022-06-14 Thread dauntless

Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
When clicking the Battery Monitor applet I get a little notice at the top
saying "Your notebook is configured not to sleep when closing the lid whilst an
external monitor is connected". Going into Power Management settings and
changing all relevant ones still fails to remove this behaviour.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug in an external monitor
2. In Power Management settings > Energy Saving > tick the boxes for "Even when
an external monitor is connected" and set both Button events handling to
"Sleep"

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Warning is still present, as it's behaviour
2. There are no other settings within Power Management for changing this
behaviour

EXPECTED RESULT
1. There should be a relevant setting for removing this behaviour if there's a
warning for it in Battery Monitor. Or it should at least give information of
how to resolve it.

Thunderbird allows you to click-drag on the calendar, and where you start and
stop determines the timing and length of the event. It would be useful to have

It would be handy if the height of the view could easily be adjusted on Day
View and Week View. Currently you have to scroll down in order to see all
events for the day. Instead it would be useful if I could zoom out to fit the
entire day on the screen at once, without having to scroll.

SUMMARY
The left-most day will show today, and the next 6 columns will show the next 6
days. This way the user can easily see what they've got planned for the near
future, rather than the current format which means they may be surprised to
learn they have something big planned for Monday (or whatever is the first day
of the Week View) . This should be a non-default option of course.

SUMMARY
I've installed Kontact Flatpak to try out KDE's calendar apps and have run into
an issue. Initially I added a CalDAV calendar and an EteSync one via Kontact
calendar, and they imported fine. They were working for a few days, but now
whenever I click on Calendar within Kontact it instead opens up KOrganizer and
shows a message at the bottom "Application is running standalone.
Foregrounding..."

I'm not sure what caused that change, and I would like to disable this
behaviour but I think it may be a documentation rather than a bug issue, I'm
not sure. If you could tell me how to disable it that would be great, but I'll
mention the actual bug I ran into next.

KOrganizer doesn't show the calendars that I initially added via Kontact. I can
see these calendars when I open Kalendar so I know they're added, and in the
Contact section of Kontact I can see them as address books as well.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a calendar via Kontact Flatpak
2. Open KOrganizer, observe calendar not showing up
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Calendars should show up in KOrganizer

EXPECTED RESULT
Calendars don't show up in KOrganizer

I've only used the CLI version so am not sure how GNOME's version works other
than it's description. For an easy-to-use GUI integration for KDE however it'd
be great if it had the following features:
- A System Settings>Hardware>Removable Devices submenu for USBGuard
configuration
- A button to enable USBGuard and generate a ruleset based on the currently
attached USB devices (equivalent to `usbguard generate-policy >
/etc/usbguard/rules.conf`)
- `usbguard-daemon.conf` converted to radio buttons/dropdown menus and other
buttons to easily edit that file
- `usbguard-rules.conf` also converted to various buttons to make editing it
easier
- Desktop notification whenever a USB device gets attached, saying that it
either did allow/block/reject the device based on USBGuard rules

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
GNOME has a USBGuard integration
(https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/USBGuard#GNOME_integration) that gives
protection against physical attacks like Evil Maid. It would be great to see
KDE have parity here.

[plasma-systemmonitor] [Bug 444666] New: End Process and Send Signal should have tooltips

2021-10-30 Thread dauntless
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444666

Bug ID: 444666
Summary: End Process and Send Signal should have tooltips
   Product: plasma-systemmonitor
   Version: 5.23.2
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

y.com
CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Sometimes when using End Process the process is not ended. Tooltips should be
shown on End Process button which tells you what kind of signal it actually
sends, and when covering over each option in the Send Signal submenu it should
give a short description of what they each do.

Potentially this could use expandable tooltips as well
(https://pointieststick.com/2021/06/18/this-week-in-kde-expandable-tooltips-and-more/).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Left-click on a process to select it
2. Right-click on the process and hover over "End Process"

OBSERVED RESULT
No tooltip

EXPECTED RESULT
Tooltips

SUMMARY
Using Flatpak Chromium v95.0.4638.54 and have tested watching full-screen
videos, found screen locking and dimming still occurs.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set screen locking or dimming to 1 min
2. Full-screen any YouTube video (also found the same with Jellyfin)

It'll still screen lock/dim.

EXPECTED RESULT
Unlike watching full-screen videos in VLC, FreeTube, etc which prevents
locking/dimming whilst watching.

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When using two 1920x1080 monitors (right monitor being Primary/Screen 1) with
90% width, when Yakuake is set to Screen 1 it spreads over onto the second
screen (it's aligned too far left). It works properly as expected however if
Yakuake is set to use Screen 2/secondary monitor.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug in two 1920x1080 monitors
2. Set the right monitor to Primary via KDE Display settings
3. Set Yakuake to use Screen 1 and 90% width

OBSERVED RESULT
It spreads over onto the second screen (it's aligned too far left).

EXPECTED RESULT
It should be properly aligned as it is when using Screen 2 as a setting.

SUMMARY
Currently only a few filetypes are enabled by default when the Show Previews
option is selected, the default should be better to allow several more
filetypes. AppImage, eBooks, PDFs and Video files at least should be default
enabled when Show Preview is enabled.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure Dolphin > General > Previews

OBSERVED RESULT
Many filetypes are off by default which aren't on other operating systems.

[Plasma Vault] [Bug 436290] Opening vault is really slow even with small data

<60f31543-f82f-492a-8430-25db55215...@dauntless.anonaddy.com> ---
Yeah my large vault works great with gocryptfs, no complaints so far. After
researching the different encryption backends some more I'd be in favour of
making it the default also, because it's EncFS without the security
vulnerabilities and it's much more performant than CryFS. The additional
security is likely not worth how much user experience can get degraded for most
people.

I also found a similar GitHub issue[1] to the one you linked, which describes
the performance issue as well as a solution for it but it hasn't been actioned
despite the author sounding open to adding the feature 5 years ago.

Ah I wasn't aware it used such small fixed-size chunking, that would explain
the performance. I'll try gocryptfs instead then, thanks for the help.

Can confirm the same experience in Kubuntu, and this makes Vaults unusable when
I tested with a 60GB Vault.
