This bug is due to missing xtest extension.

The bug still exist for plasma mobile 6

QT_IM_MODULE=qtvirtualkeyboard systemsettings
qt.qpa.wayland: qtvirtualkeyboard currently is not supported at client-side,
use QT_IM_MODULE=qtvirtualkeyboard at compositor-side.
qt.qpa.wayland: eglSwapBuffers failed with 0x300d, surface: 0x0

I think I might close it because it is not supported on client side.

2023-09-26 Thread idoitprone

This bug is simple. Steam will crash kwin when switch from software decode to
hw decode during a dmabuf-pipewire stream. Kwin will be killed, you can start
krunner and start konsole to retrieve the longs. Sometimes, kwin will restart
itself.

This bug is repeatable. I did not test other applications nor tested hw
acceleration to software acceleration.

[kwin] [Bug 474924] New: Kwin wayland crashes when dynamically changing from software decode to hw code in steam -pipewire-dmabuf

2023-09-26 Thread idoitprone
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474924

Bug ID: 474924
Summary: Kwin wayland crashes when dynamically changing from
software decode to hw code in steam -pipewire-dmabuf
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.27.8
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: wayland
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: monkeyboy...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---
 Flags: Wayland+

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start steam with `steam -pipewire-dmabuf`
2. Setup steam link with a pair client and host
2. Turn off hardware acceleration on the host
3. Setup a non steam game with
target /usr/bin/gamescope
Run in $HOME
application: /usr/share/code/code ## I only tested vscode at the moment.
4. Go to the client steam application and start the steam
5. Go to the host settings and turn on hardware acceleration
6. Kwin crashes

OBSERVED RESULT
Software remote works but hardware acceleration crashes

EXPECTED RESULT
No crash. At least fail gracefully.

(In reply to Volker Krause from comment #5)
> The problem here is that Itinerary doesn't know where the event is (although

> case I think) it should show the times correctly.

The tidbit will be a bit awkward. The school also provide online links in the
same format

zypp log

I remember Spectacle being broken on 8/31/23 and Kscreen is broken today.
However, todayś update fixes the issue. I attaching the log to whoever wants
it. My experience with Kwin update is that it seems to be staggered. One huge
update only touches 1/2 of the packages. The next update fixes all the other
issues which comes up. I guess I should report it to Opensuse.

This bug is baffling because the input and display becomes desync such the
input follows the kscreen orientation. The screen does not rotate and stays at
panel native orientation. For the steam deck, the native orientation is
portrait.

This bug affects mouse, touch screen etc.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kde settings
2. Navigate to kscreen
3. Rotate primary screen
4. Attempt to click anything, move mouse, or run gestures etc.

OBSERVED RESULT
Kscreen and input orientation is desynced. This bug will cause issues for most
people.

I cannot find where to set the other fields for this screen locker.

There were two issues:

CraftRoot/etc/blueprints/locations/craft-blueprints-kde/libs/libfftw/libfftw.py
needs to be updated to check for the ARM arch and unset -DENABLE_SSE2=ON

Craft by default produces partly-codesigned binaries which are then
modified during craft --package, creating a broken app bundle. There is
CodeSigning section in etc/CraftSettings.ini but it expects an official MacOS
developer identity (which makes sense for KDE org). It would probably work with
the official signing identity but I don't have a Mac developer program
purchased (and I don't plan to get one as I expect to be able to build and run
software on my computer without paying Apple yearly for some certificates). So
I patched ./craft/bin/Utils/CodeSign.py to pass - (dash) as --sign identity
argument (requesting adhoc signing). Then, after craft --package ... I
extracted the built .app bundle and replaced entitlements [1] for all binaries
find /Applications/kdeconnect-indicator.app/Contents/MacOS -type f -perm +111
-exec codesign -fs - --options runtime --entitlements ~/tmp/entitlements.plist
{} \; and resigned the whole bundle adhoc again codesign -fs -
kdeconnect-indicator.app. Then replaced the app bundle in the dmg.

You can follow my steps or you can try my dmg. It has adhoc-signed binaries so
it may not work for you or it may require to explicitly allow opening the app
in Settings -> Pricacy & Security.

I will try to upstream the changes (libfftw blueprint will be easy, adding
optional adhoc option for signing may be more difficult).

[1] Entitlements I used just disable signature validation on libraries loaded
into the process and allow attaching a debugger to a running process:
