[plasmashell] [Bug 465875] New: Task Manager (traditional) feature request - move to other display.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465875 Bug ID: 465875 Summary: Task Manager (traditional) feature request - move to other display. Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: linuxguy...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 My workstation has 3 monitors. I have a panel on each monitor display area and I run task manager in each panel. I have each task manager set up the same: - Group by program name - Show textual list - Combine into single button - Show only tasks from current screen, from current desktop, from current activity. I run multiple virtual desktops. Recently I have experienced issues with KDE 5.27 beta getting the monitor setup all mixed up when disconnecting a monitor and reconnecting it. Between this and crashing issue with Firefox, my Firefox windows get shuffled to various virtual desktops and displays. Resorting the Firefox windows is a pain especially when a bunch of them end up in the panel on the wrong display. When that happens I have to open each window individually and drag it to the correct display. Right now Task Manager has the option of Move to Desktop to move a window or group of windows (if grouped by name) to a different VD. I'd like the same thing for moving windows to a different display. So if a group of 20 Firefox windows gets moved to the panel on my side display, I can right click the group in task manager and move them to the center display where they were before my monitors got messed up. ``` Operating System: Fedora Linux 37 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 Kernel Version: 6.1.12-200.fc37.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor Memory: 62.7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 ``` -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 460454] New: Applications change displays after resuming from sleep.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460454 Bug ID: 460454 Summary: Applications change displays after resuming from sleep. Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: linuxguy...@gmail.com CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Applications change displays after resuming from sleep. I'm running 2 monitors on F36. I work on my main monitor. I run Firefox and Okular on my side monitor for viewing media and documents while I am working. Everything works fine until the computer goes into sleep mode. After it does, the applications that were in the side monitor are now full screen on the main monitor. Every time my computer comes out of sleep I have to move all the applications that were in the side monitor from the main display to the side display. It is a real pain in the butt. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start a KDE session. 2. Open several apps and place them in the side monitor. 3. Let the computer go to sleep. 4. Bring the computer out of sleep. OBSERVED RESULT The applications that were in the side monitor are now in the main monitor. Usually full screen or extremely large, ie they kept their relative size from the small side display. EXPECTED RESULT Applications should be in the monitor/display that they were in before the sleep event. For whatever reason it won't do this if I select Start -> Sleep and then bring it back out of sleep. Must be time related or something. If I walk away from my computer for 10 minutes or so it does it. It does this on multiple machines, with Nvidia and AMD Radeon video cards. [plasmashell] [Bug 422704] Add Sort by... to grouped instances. Search ?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422704 --- Comment #1 from Me --- BTW, would be really nice if TaskManager -> rightclick -> More Actions had a "Open" (Open All) function in the list. This would allow users to open all the instances at once, look through them and then manually close them one at a time. Would make searching for something much easier. As it is right now to do the same thing you'd have to manually open each instance by selecting it in the group list. By "Open" I mean open the instance as if you clicked it in the group instance list. The More Actions list has Maximize, Minimize and lots of other stuff, but no plain Open. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 422704] New: Add Sort by... to grouped instances. Search ?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422704 Bug ID: 422704 Summary: Add Sort by... to grouped instances. Search ? Product: plasmashell Version: 5.18.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Task Manager Assignee: h...@kde.org Reporter: linuxguy...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Add Sort by... and search to grouped instances. Allow a group of task instances (like Firefox instances) to be sorted alphabetically, by last used, my most used, etc. and to search for instances based on window title names. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add a panel with a task manager widget. Enable group by name, disable waiting for the task bar to be full. All tasks will be grouped all the time. 2. Open 20 to 50 instances of an app, like Firefox 3. Use them over the course of a week. 4. Reboot. OBSERVED RESULT When Linux reboots, task manager adds instances to the group as they launch. Ie without a pre determined order. If you need to open a specific instance from the list, you have to search through the list and find it. Very time consuming. Would be better to be able to search the instance list for a window title keyword or sort the instances alphabetically. Would also be great to be able to "star" a specific instance (gmail, for example) and keep it at the bottom or top of the task list, so it is always available. Would also be great to be able to sort the list by last used, most frequently used, etc. EXPECTED RESULT No have to manually search through an arbitrarily ordered list to find the instance that is needed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set up KDE with 2 screens. Primary screen is on the right. Other screen is on the left, rotated. 2. Reboot. OBSERVED RESULT First off, the login on the non primary screen is rotated sideways. On login the system doesn't recognize that the monitor is rotated and doesn't compensate. Secondly, after login the non primary screen is black, but not operating. The mouse will operate on the screen but KDE isn't operating on it and things like mouse clicks, etc. aren't acted upon. To get the non primary screen to operate, one needs to System Settings -> Display Configuration, unclick the rotated button and click the non rotated button and press apply. At this point KDE starts displaying and working on the monitor. Then press the rotated orientation button and Apply and everything works again. EXPECTED RESULT The screen should function properly after a reboot without any fiddling. Sound should come out of the primary screen. 2. Set up sound to use HDMI output. Use PulseAudio Volume Control to select HDMI out and the primary screen for output. OBSERVED RESULT Half the time there is no sound and one has to go to the sound widget in panel and select HDMI as the Default Device. (The Default Device icon is messed up as well.) Every time the computer is rebooted the sound will default back to screen #1. The user must open PulseAudio Volume Control and reset the audio to come out of the primary screen. Sometimes this happens every time the computer goes to sleep and/or every time you log out. Thus every reboot or sleep you have to go in and reset and fiddle with the HDMI audio settings. Keep launchers separate. Show only tasks from current desktop. Show only tasks from current activity. 2. Open 20 to 50 Firefox instances. Observe that they group properly in task manager. 3. sudo reboot OBSERVED RESULT The workstation reboots properly. The Firefox instances all restart and appear as individual items in Task Manager. Task Manager does not group them at all. To get them to regroup, one must manually open every instance on the desktop and then minimize it. This is a very time consuming process if you have a large number of instances open. When you minimize the instances, Task Manager groups them properly. It appears that Task Manager must group upon a window minimize event. I think on startup after a reboot it will need to group on something else. I re-used the same project to create an introduction that uses exactly the same assets, but a 60FPS video. Since the project was first created in 30FPS, it renders as 30FPS just fine. Since kdenlive keeps track of frames, not durations, if I change the framerate of the entire project to 60FPS, the timing of everything gets thrown off. Aside from the entire project being half as long, everything looks just fine in the timeline (it's all lines up correctly). However, the "begin" and "end" timings for the audio and video clips are off. I have uploaded sample renders as examples of the result: * Original project, 30 FPS: https://youtu.be/lXyIRzt4Fsg * Changing the settings to 60 FPS: https://youtu.be/oWvjQbdvuo0 * Changing the settings to 59FPS: https://youtu.be/Fn7EisV6Dco Is it possible to change the framerate of the project while keeping all the timings the same? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdelibs] [Bug 162211] Copying to an external causes lots of missing files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162211 Me <linuxguy...@gmail.com> changed: What|Removed |Added CC||linuxguy...@gmail.com --- Comment #91 from Me <linuxguy...@gmail.com> --- I just lost a bunch of precious pictures due to a bug in Dolphin. I was doing maintenance on my photo collection. I had previously downloaded some jpg and raw files directly from the camera onto USB drive "A". I keep my photos organized on USB drive "B". I thus attempted to move the photos from USB drive A to USB drive B with Dolphin. Both USB A and USB B are multi GB SATA 3.5" hard drives with USB 3.0 interfaces. They are formatted EXT4. As near as I can remember, here is what happened: 1) I opened Dolphin. I split the screen. I selected USB drive A on the left panel. I selected USB drive B on the right panel. 2) I did a bit of browsing on USB A to ascertain which folders I wanted to move. I created a new folder on USB drive B. 3) I selected about 10 folders containing several hundred images from drive A. I dragged them over to the drive B panel in Dolphin and dropped them on the folder I created. I selected Move from the pop up menu. Not copy. 4) The process started. I opened the KDE plasma notification window and expanded the info to watch the files being copied. The process took about 10 minutes. The CPU load was very high, like 100%, on the plasma shell process. 5) At the conclusion of the process I just happened to open up a jpg to have a look at it. I started scrolling through the files only to find that several sub folders had images with file sizes of 0B. They could not be opened. The file content was lost even if the handle was there. 6) When I went back to the source folders on drive A, the images are, of course, gone. The hard drives have both been fine. I ran fsck on them and both came up clean. At no point in this process were the drives unmounted or disconnected. I got called away from my desk and rechecked the files again later. The file sizes were still zero. I've seen files lost like this using Dolphin before. I suspect there is a bug in the kio process when transferring large blocks of files to an external USB drive. What is interesting is that if you use mv or cp on the command line, the CPU load is way, way lower than if the files are moved from Dolphin. Like 5% versus 100% and the command line operations are quite a bit faster. $ uname -a Linux localhost.localdomain 4.7.9-200.fc24.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Oct 20 14:26:16 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux kf version 5.26.0.1.fc24 Been using Linux exclusively on my workstation since Redhat 8. [neon] [Bug 363851] "A stop job is running for Session 1 of user neon" during shutdown
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363851 --- Comment #10 from Me <sno...@icloud.com> --- I’m running KDE neon in an Oracle VirtualBox VM. I keep it fully apt-get dist-upgraded. If I leave #KillUserProcesses=no, then the shutdown process ‘hangs’ once the KDE neon 5.6.90 logo screen appears for a full 1min 30s. I’ve screen-captured this: Where is this second session of ‘me’ coming from? It’s this second session that is hung (I believe it’s actually dead — a zombie?) and causes systemd to delay the shutdown; it waits for the second session to terminate “on it’s own”, and when, after the default time of 1min 30s, it hasn’t, systemd then kills it and the shutdown finishes as it should.
