Same for me:

I am using gentoo:

kde-plasma/kscreen-5.20.5

output of my xrandr:

   640x480 60.0059.94

if you see...

the default for second monitor is 60hz but kscreen is taking 59.94

59.94 is rounded to 60hz on the GUI and when you select 60Hz on the GUI it set
to 59.94Hz which is not the default.

Posible fix: Dont round frequencies on GUI and put a drop down with 2 decimals.

Workaround deleting .local/share/kscreen works fine until the next time you try
to use kscreen.

If you need a screen capture I can provide it.

TLDR;

59.94 is rounded to 60 on GUI and real 60 is not shown.

[KScreen] [Bug 424997] Kscreen not showing video modes frecuency (rounding problem)

2020-08-04 Thread mercuriete
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424997

Posible implementation:

when iterating for all refresh rates...
if they are rounded to the same number on the dropdown...
if the refresh rate is a default videomode dont deduplicate or discard the
others refresh rates with the same number.

Another implementation:

use 2 decimal points on the drop down.

[KScreen] [Bug 424997] New: Kscreen not showing video modes frecuency (rounding problem)

2020-08-04 Thread mercuriete
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424997

Bug ID: 424997
Summary: Kscreen not showing video modes frecuency (rounding
problem)
   Product: KScreen
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mercuri...@yahoo.es
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Kscreen is not showing all video modes, resulting in not showing the default
mode.

When your monitor have 60hz and 59.94hz, the values get rounded to 60 and the
dropdown you can't choose 60hz instead you have a 60hz label but enables the
non default 59.94hz

Workaround: when you delete the folder .local/share/kscreen the monitors gets
the default video mode.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. buy an screen with 60hz and 59.94hz
2. change video mode to 30hz with kscreen
3. change again to 60hz
4. see xrandr output.

OBSERVED RESULT

59.94hz (non default videomode) is choosen

EXPECTED RESULT

60hz is choosen

[systemsettings] [Bug 395575] It's not possible to lower the DPI to values smaller than 96

Not sure what do you mean by logical dpi.

If this is a bug in libreoffice feel free to report there.

The behaviour in libreoffice is that if you change that setting, the paper size
and the font size changes.

So libreoffice writer with low dpi screens is broken in plasma because I cant
set the dpi in systemsettings.

Maybe I am missing something.

Thanks for your quick response

I can confirm this is a issue.

My screen is a Samsung S27F358.

not too big screen (27 inches)
but has low resolution (1920x1080)

If you do the calculations the dpi is something near 82 dpi.

The documentation of libreoffice says the following:

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/HiDpi

KDE: In 4.x system settings, under Application Appearance - Fonts, you can set
the "Force fonts DPI" to 192. When this is set, the LibreOffice HiDPI mode
kicks in.

So in my case I need to set "force fonts dpi" to 82 to see real size letters
and paper sizes.

right now I see a ISO A4 too big compared with the reality. And the ruler shows
fake centimeters.

the workaround is:

https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/8ryn0a/513_i_can_no_longer_change_font_to_dpi_96/

When I force the dpi in .config/kcmfonts to 82, libreoffice shows a paper size
more realistic and the ruler is more real.

I can confirm this issue.

ksysguard shows my cpu at highest frequency all the time.

uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 4.13.2-gentoo #2 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 20 20:40:20
CEST 2017 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz GenuineIntel
GNU/Linux

I used to see ksysguard to figure out if schedutil was working properly or not.

now the only alternative is:

sudo watch cpupower monitor

Thanks in advance.
