[kate] [Bug 483363] Kate has crashed after using rename (F2) context menu option

2024-05-23 Thread rjx_
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483363

--- Comment #16 from rjx_ <7c6s4b+cc6efdty3b...@sharklasers.com> ---
Update:
After a through debugging session with Waqar (thanks!), we found that turning
off "Incrementally synchronize document with the LSP server" in LSP settings
fixes the crash, regardless of any other setting anywhere else.
It looks like the fault is within this function & python LSP server being a bit
wonky.

[NeoChat] [Bug 487253] New: Neochat is unable to join new rooms

2024-05-19 Thread rjx_
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487253

Bug ID: 487253
Summary: Neochat is unable to join new rooms
Classification: Applications
   Product: NeoChat
   Version: 24.02.2
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: fe...@posteo.de
  Reporter: 7c6s4b+cc6efdty3b...@sharklasers.com
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After joining around 10 rooms on kde.org's homeserver, i am currently unable to
join any more/new ones from neochat, this worked fine from a web instance of
Element however.

Reproducer:
Go to the search field (on the left) and search for something, on "no rooms
found" click "Search in room directory", chose kde.org, find a room you had not
joined yet, click on it once.
Neochat will show a "Joined" status, but when you return to default chat/rooms
view, it will either give you an error "Failed to join room No known servers",
or just silently won't join that room.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0

SUMMARY
When a maximized neochat window is minimized to tray and then reopened from
there, it loses the maximized status. i.e. it's window is subtly smaller and
not in the maximized state anymore.
I think i had a similar bug with apps on plasma 5.27 on wayland, but it was
mostly gone in 6.0, might be unrelated to this one though.

--- Comment #3 from rjx_ <7c6s4b+cc6efdty3b...@sharklasers.com> ---
Now come to think of it, it's very likely a notification (popup), not a tray
icon animation, which is most likely tied to the crash, as i think some apps
did not have any tray animation/icon change but still crashed when a
notification appeared on a locked session.
Still most easily reproduced with a turned off monitor, in my experience at
least.

-- Information about the crash:
It's an old bug (being there at least since plasma 5 days), but slightly
difficult to trigger:
you need an app to have an animated tray icon (or maybe just changing
state/bitmap?) being triggered while the screen is locked (and/or potentially
even turned off - at least i had an easier time reproducing when my monitor was
turned off completely via h/w button).

Reproduced with Konversation and people highlighting my nick.
I am on Wayland, but i encountered this bug on X11 quite some time ago too so
it's probably unrelated to that.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Quick update:
After trying various things (removing optional dependencies for py-lsp for
example), i isolated the case to my ~/.config/katerc - migrated from the old Qt
5 version of kate - being the culprit here.
Will try to isolate it to some (set of?) settings or sanitize a bit and attach
the config here, but a tad later.

Thank you for testing, it's much appreciated.
Unfortunately from the looks of it this could be either a distro specific bug
(which i am not sure it is), or just require a more up to date system
software/libraries which can possibly influence the crashes as well.

Some further discoveries:
After testing with clang's LSP server on some random C files, i were not able
to crash kate with it.
Granted, that's either clang being too strict or something weird going on here
as well, for trying to replace random things - anything aside from arbitrary
text values like variable names/strings - would lead to Replace not replacing
anything at all.

Seems like either a python-lsp-server[1] bug, kate crashing via not handling
some of it's wonkiness well, or both.
I assume that in order to reproduce this one might need to spin a VM with Arch
or some other recentish distro (Fedora 40?) with python-lsp-server 1.10.0 at
the very least (that's what Arch got atm).
Otherwise, i am a bit out of ideas as to what's actually the issue here.

Sorry, i overlooked your comment at first.
You need to enable LSP plugin in kate's plugins, then replace would become
available (from either right click menu or LSP Client toolbar item).
You will need some LSP server(s) installed too, i assume. Check what your
distro provides, mine got clang (for c++), python-lsp-server and rust. I have
not confirmed it with other servers aside from the python one, but you may be
able to reproduce those bugs with them too, hopefully.

a test python script

Hello, sorry for the late answer, but right now the behavior of replace is
pretty weird on my end so i were not sure what to report.

In kate 24.02.1 + Qt 6.6.2 at first i could not easily reproduce the crash, but
after playing around with LSP replace some more i noticed the following
bugs/inconsistencies:
* A crash *can* be reproduced, but under some very specific circumstances
(it's honestly finicky to reproduce hence such silly specificity):
   - in attached python script, select/double click "street", then try to
replace it with anything (i tried alphanumeric gibberish), then it will crash -
unreliably so, you might need to try a few times or input different words,
however.
   - Another(?) one - is when you select "kwargs.get" and try to replace it
with some nonsense, like "darks".
Might need a few tries too, but usually it's instant.
* sometimes replacing "kwargs.get" with gibberish unexpectedly opens other
scripts (in the path? loaded by LSP? not sure, this is weird. one example of
such file is
"/usr/lib/python3.11/site-packages/jedi/third_party/typeshed/stdlib/3/typing.pyi")
and replaces some *different* keywords with said gibberish in them... i really
don't get this behavior.

Some of those are apparently quirks of LSP plugin/handling, for example it
weren't clear for me initially that "Replace (F2)" is not a generic replace,
and that it only works for active, non commented code (not even for the content
of strings, for example).

core dump

Kate crashed a few more times, now reproducibly so:
1. load a python script with python LSP loaded and active
2. ctr-a, del
3. crash

Narrowed it down to LSP plugin - if i disable it, restart the kate and do the
same steps it does not crash.
Added a fresh backtrace (after update and reboot to rule out some system
issue).

[kate] [Bug 482678] New: Kate crashes after selecting all text and deleting it

2024-03-07 Thread rjx_
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482678

Bug ID: 482678
Summary: Kate crashes after selecting all text and deleting it
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 24.02.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: 7c6s4b+cc6efdty3b...@sharklasers.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kate (24.02.0)

Qt Version: 6.6.2
Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Operating System: Linux 6.7.8-zen1-1-zen x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland
Distribution: Arch Linux
DrKonqi: 6.0.1 [CoredumpBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
Just selected all the text via ctrl-a in a python file (with LSP loaded and
build plugin panel on the bottom open) and deleted it, which instantly crashed
kate.
This new release crashed a few times already, likely in a similar manner (i
have not paid as much attention back then, so not sure abt it).
Circumstances, if they help any: screen was split with Plasma's tiling editor
vertically in half, kate 24.02.0 on the right and chromium playing a video on
the left.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

78a71136 seems to fix these crashes for me on Arch (tested with
https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/commit/trunk?h=packages/kglobalaccel=a14f1a4b9e54a43401efa46e5054f41a5c0beca6
), have not tried it with suspending however.

[dolphin] [Bug 378888] Copy Dropbox Link does not work anymore

2018-07-14 Thread rjx_
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37

--- Comment #7 from rjx_ <7c6s4b+cc6efdty3b...@sharklasers.com> ---
I use default Plasma Clipboard tray widget as a clipboard manager, but iirc
usually it can process huge amounts of text at once (it may hang for a little
while though).
In this case however i see nothing in both Clipboard widget listing & secondary
clipboard (middleclick one), so i assumed it just did not work and hanged for
some other reason.

[dolphin] [Bug 378888] Copy Dropbox Link does not work anymore

2018-07-13 Thread rjx_
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37

--- Comment #4 from rjx_ <7c6s4b+cc6efdty3b...@sharklasers.com> ---
Ah, sorry for the long silence.
Let's see, when i click Copy Dropbox Link in Dolphin's context menu (anywhere
in Dropbox (sub)folder(s)) now it does the following:
taskbar is unresponsive for about half a minute, then Copied link on 'filename'
notification appears but there's actually nothing new in the clipboard. And btw
alt-tabbing works just fine while taskbar is hanging.
I.e. behavior is still essentially the same as before - trying to get a public
link for any file anywhere in Dropbox folder(s) results in failure and taskbar
hangs with no usable links produced ever.

[dolphin] [Bug 378888] New: Copy Dropbox Link does not work anymore

2017-04-17 Thread rjx_
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37

Bug ID: 37
Summary: Copy Dropbox Link does not work anymore
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 16.12.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: plugins: dropbox
  Assignee: emmanuelpescosta...@gmail.com
  Reporter: 7c6s4b+cc6efdty3b...@sharklasers.com
CC: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

According to official help entry https://www.dropbox.com/help/16 direct links
from public folder were disabled for basic accounts (and they are planning to
get rid of it for paid ones too in september) from 15 march on. And sure thing
creation of them from dolphin's plugin menu entry does not work anymore
(curiously selecting this entry hangs plasma for a little while in my case).
And as of 23.4.19 version of official linux Dropbox client "Create Dropbox
Link" in dolphin does not work for any other folder or file either, however
according to the same help entry creation of "shared links" should still work.
I unfortunately never used this feature and can't really remember if menu for
creating shared links ever existed in dolphin, nor have I tested other Dropbox
related menu entries - they might be broken too now for all i know.
