[plasmashell] [Bug 491237] New: Plasma search plugins ordering not working consistently

2024-08-03 Thread roworu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491237

Bug ID: 491237
Summary: Plasma search plugins ordering not working
consistently
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.1.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff)
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mamorue...@gmail.com
CC: mikel5...@gmail.com, noaha...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 172262
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=172262&action=edit
how to reproduce the issue

SUMMARY
I have two plugins: "Windows" and "Applications". "Windows" is set to be
ordered first in Plasma search plugins, and "Applications" is second. In the
Application launcher, when typing the names of different currently running
applications, sometimes the first search section is a currently running window,
but other times it is the application launcher itself. I was unable to find a
pattern causing this behavior, but it seems the ordering feature is not working
correctly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the "Windows" search plugin in the "Plasma Search" settings menu to the
first place and mark it as "Favorite".
2. Set the "Applications" search plugin to the second place and also mark it as
"Favorite".
3. Type the names of different currently running applications in the search.

OBSERVED RESULT
The order of the search results varies each time.

EXPECTED RESULT
The first section should always be "Windows" with a list of currently running
windows, and the second should be "Applications".

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
- Linux: Fedora 40
- KDE Plasma Version 6.1.3
- KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0
- Qt Version: 6.7.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have attached a video fragment showing how to reproduce the issue, which may
make it easier to understand.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 484356] Make screen locker not register "space" button pressing

2024-03-24 Thread roworu

Gnome desktop also behaves this way. But it only ignores first press of the
space button.
So, I would propose act the same:
1) First press of space button considered as signal to turn on display.
2) All others - password input.
May be we should not focus on exact button (if it space, Ctrl, Shift) and just
make first touch of keyboard with turned off display to turn it on?
It sound more logical, than just start password input: Monitor is blank - is it
just turned off by timeout? Or is it locked? We need to press button to turn it
on - turns out it was locked, so we need to delete the symbol registered as
password input, and start typing password.
That sound as a little, logical UX improvement.

[kde] [Bug 484356] New: Make screen locker not register "space" button pressing

Bug ID: 484356
Summary: Make screen locker not register "space" button
pressing
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mamorue...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello. This is more like a feature request:
Would it be possible to make Plasma screen locker not react on pressing space
button?
For most of OSes nowadays, once your screen locked and blanked - you just press
a space button to turn display on and then start typing password.
Every time when my screen blanked I out of habit press the button space button
and it getting registered as if started typing a password, and when I type in
my password - it is incorrect (due to that extra space in beginning).
Thank you!

Or could that be connected to another bug related to system unresponsiveness
after display off and on?:

Hello. Im also experiencing this bug, but with two displays connected via DP to
Nvidia card.
Not only icons messing after screen blanking due to timeout, but also display
refresh rate on second screen resets to lowest variables and making it the
"Primary"
Is there any additional info I could provide to help?

> 2. After notable delay (like 15-20 seconds) panels appear at right

After small test found out, that this issue is entirely actual for 5.24.5
But after switching to plasma-testing (witch is currently version 5.24.90 in
arch linux repos) issue seem to be only partly reproducible:
When I resume my session, this happens:
1. Wallpaper and panel on ALL monitors disappears, only black screen on every
monitor, and unable to open the context menu.
2. After notable delay (like 15-20 seconds) panels appear at right positions,
and after two or less seconds wallpapers shown.

Forgot to mention, that only way to restore normal panel placement is to
restart plasma (I do this with "killall plasmashell && kstart plasmashell").
The output I got from this attached.
