[kwin] [Bug 399368] Height of the window is resized when moving between screens

It didn't help. Problem occurs when the top-left corner of the laptop's screen
is below the external monitor even when their edges doesn't stick together. But
when I moved laptop's top-left screen corner to the [externalScreen.x - 1:y] or
[externalScreen.width + 1:y] the problem doesn't occur.

[plasmashell] [Bug 399368] New: Height of the window is resized when moving between screens

2018-10-04 Thread sabbat
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399368

Bug ID: 399368
Summary: Height of the window is resized when moving between
screens
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.13.5
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Multi-screen support
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org

CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Graphical bug's representation

I have multi screen configuration in which the 1st is on top with the KDE's
panel and the 2nd at the bottom so the panel is located between those screens.
When moving any window from 1st to the 2nd screen using keyboard shortcut those
windows height is resized to the window minimum.
It occurs always but only when moving window from the screen which has a panel.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two screens on where the 1st with panel is on the top and the 2nd is on
the bottom.
2. Move window from 1st to the 2nd screen using keyboard shortcut.

OBSERVED RESULT
Height of the window is resized to the allowable minimum.

EXPECTED RESULT
Size of the window should remain unchanged.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0
Qt Version: 5.11.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
On the attached image you may see that the width is changed too but actually it
was changed because of the image size reduction.

Graphical bug's representation

I have multi screen configuration in which the 1st is on top with the KDE's
panel and the 2nd at the bottom without any panel. When the laptop's cover is
closed (2nd screen turns off) and opened (2nd screen turns on) on the 2nd
screen shows empty space with the same size and the same position of the main
panel. When maximizing window on the 1st screen the window goes below panel and
the bottom of the window is covered by it.
It occurs always and persist until I unlock and lock the panel.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two screens on where the 1st with panel is on the top and the 2nd is on
the bottom without any panel.
2. Close the laptop's cover (then the laptop screen is turned off).
3. Open the laptop's cover (then the laptop screen is turned on)
4. Move the maximized window from 1st screen to the 2nd.
5. Maximize window on the 1st screen.

OBSERVED RESULT
There's empty space at the 2nd screen with the same position and the same size
of the 1st screen panel.
Maximized window on the 1st screen goes below panel.

EXPECTED RESULT
Moved maximized window should fill whole size of the screen.
Moved any sized window to the 2nd screen and then maximized should fill whole
size of the screen.
Maximized window on the 1st screen fits in the desktop area minus the KDE's
panel size.

I have installed those packages:
plasma-wayland-session
qt5-wayland
xorg-server-wayland

Now I'm using xorg and for 3 hours plasma's working fine without crash. Still
testing.
If crash will happen I'll post logs with debugging symbols.
