Bug ID: 420043
   Summary: No keyboard is detected
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro

Status: REPORTED

SUMMARY

Out of sudden KDE has stopped detecting my keyboard.
I am having a CORSAIR keyboard and using ckb-next for configuration.
It was working before just fine.

Here is a screenshot
https://i.imgur.com/P9XuGeH.png

The weird thing is that if I plug in any other external usb keyboard Plasma
detects it fine and it can show it on keyboard settings BUT if I reboot the pc
having the external keyboard already plugged in , it will not detect the
keyboard , ONLY if I remove and plug in the keyboard again it will work.

The corsair keyboard is working fine even if KDE is not detecting it no
problems at all but sometimes layouts are not working , so if I want to change
language I have to plug in an external usb keyboard in order for KDE to
recognize the other keyboard and be able to switch languages - a bit annoying
other than that everything is working fine..

I have tried some things but so far no solution

EXPECTED RESULT
To detect the keyboard and able to switch layouts

Thank you very much for your effort , for your research, finding and fixing
this bug.

Although I have many questions like for example why this bug is happening to me
and not to other users? What it means it happens to opaque wobbly windows? Why
I am an opaque client?

Is ok if you dont have time to answer, I understand :)

Thanks again!

This is happening when PS4 Touchpad is enable and acting like a mouse - if you
disable the touchpad , systray is not crashing!

Thanks to

yoyopuff post from Manjaro Forums

"I have also experienced the ps4 bluetooth-on/systray bug. While not backed by
science. You may have some success by disabling the ps4 touchpad as a
workaround.

My findings:

ps4 touchpad enabled & touchpad widget hidden: It happens by chance. Though
hot streaks are possible.

ps4 touchpad enabled & touchpad widget shown: It seems to crash each time.

When I disable ps4 touchpad it seems to work fine (without any crashes
yet)."

well I dont know how to report with DrKongi but is not that is crashing and I
have a popup error like it does when KWIN crashes.

Actually nothing appears as a crash or error is just the systray icons
disappear.
I have noticed that ONLY the third party icons disappear and not the KDE ICONS
, like steam , clementine,copyQ, remmina etc

This error I had it in the past with manjaro KDE but it was happening once and
very rare but now it happens every time I connect a Ps4 controller.

system load viewer. (motherboard web site:

However other addons like CPU Load monitor is working fine and also Thermal

Also Psensor is working fine and is displaying all the values correctly so I
guess is something with the System Load Viewer addon.

I think I have found the culprit.

I have totally removed XFCE and now notifications are working fine.

I dont know why XFCE is causing this issue, is a bit weird.
XFCE has a file xfce4-notifyd maybe that is the culprit.

I have rebooted my pc 2-3 times and notifications are fine , no problems at

Hi,
Plasma notifications seems to be displayed in different locations in a multiple
monitor layout instead of my system tray.
For example Clementine Song Popups are displayed at my second monitor upper
right , sometimes to the primary monitor around the middle.

Another example is that KDE Connect displays SMS multiple times in the upper
right corner of the primary screen instad of system tray.

I have tried renaming the folder .kde4 but no luck

I have also tried to use the option -> custom position for the notification but
it seems that is doing nothing.

I have also tried to create a new user but the same thing

Any ideas how to fix this or is a Plasma bug that will be fixed in a future
release?

Thanks for your prompt reply but I dont understand why this problem has to do

Anyway thanks for the support , maybe it has to do with Nvidia Drivers I will

  Target Milestone: 1.0

The Unreal Editor menus are very slow,it looks like the menus are lagging, it
takes around 3-6 sec to move from one menu to another.
The FPS from 120 goes down to 20-0 FPS and freezes if I am moving the mouse a
bit quickly around the menus.

(I am using Plasma with a high end pc, Nvidia 1080Ti and AMD Threadripper
1950x)

I tested also Unity Engine and is working fine a bit of lag there as well but
is unnoticed.

With another DE (tested MATE) is working fine no delays and not lag at all.
I have posted this problem to unreal engine forums but I guess this has to do
with KDE since in other Desktop Environments is working fine.

cheers
K

hi Bob Wya ,
One question please:
When you run an opengl game/app does it turn off the compositor or not??
(Before it said that this happening because the drivers request to do so and
we had to force to enable compositor using the rules)
if compositor is getting disable you will notice a lot of tearing in most of
the games thats why we want the compositor to be enable.

Broken Texures/Shadows and Turning off compositor when launching an opengl game
or app.
So with this patch both of these problems are solved?

As it mentioned in previous comments

-> Temporary Fix Solution
Run "kcmshell5 kwinrules" and create a blind rule (just don't press the detect
button),name it whatever you want, then go to the last tab Appearance and Fixes
-->  "Block Compositing"  -> Force -> "No"

This will prevent opengl games or apps to turn off the compositor so the
compositor will always stay on and you will not experience these kind of
problems anymore.
I have been using this temporary fix solution for almost 2 weeks now and
everything works fine :)

updating...

1. my friend with Arch who downgrade kwin still has the problem (my apologies)

2. Without running any game or any opengl application - just disabling and
enabling the compositor (alt+shift + f12) many times with delay 2-3 secs is
causing the problem/corruption.

3. The compositor needed to be enabled when launching games or apps for tearing
issues etc.if for example the compositor is disabled export __GL_YIELD="USLEEP"
or "TripleBuffer" "True" are not working.
so atm I am using (alt+shift + f12) while I am ingame and xrender when I am out
in order no to see the corrupted shadows. IS not the option that I want because
I cant use any kwin effects but since I have no choice I am settled with that.
4. It has been a month and this bug is still unconfirmed somehow.
Actually it should be on urgent list.

Anyway my apologies for posting too much, this is my last post concerning this
bug.
Plasma 5 is the best DE and would appreciate any fix related to this this bug.

This is just to let you know that a friend of mine that is using Arch in order
to fix these problems he downgraded kwin to version kwin 5.5.95-3 from Arch
repos. (just kwin of what he told me)

Also even with Xrender the compositor breaks.
if you launch any opengl game or app the compositor breaks but you dont
actually notice that their is a problem because of the xrender but if you
switch the rendering backend to opengl you will see the shadows all over
immediately without launching any openg aps or games.
That means that the compositor was already messed from before when you were
using xrender rendering backend.

some more investigation...

1. ALL opengl games/applications disable compositor but actually some of them
break kwin compositor.
2. if I use the org.kde.oxygen decoration it doesnt give me any artifacts
3. After opening a game or application that it will break the compositor even
when the compositor is enabled.
When the compositor/kwin is breaks what ever I open after it creates black
squares all over the screen

Image
http://i.imgur.com/5gH0ZAv.png
( I cant find any attachment button when I post any bug so I am using imgur)

4. I have noticed that when a game breaks KWIN compositor it seems that VSYNC
is messed up because I can see a lot of tearing issues in the game when the
compositor is messed up. Dont know if that is because NVIDIA or KWIN but it
seems like they have a conflict somewhere

5. In order to fix this problem I had to install another compositor like for
example compiz.
So whenever a game or an application breaks the compositor I just enable compiz
for a sec and then activate again KWIN compositor and I am back to normal.

--- Comment #40 from wolfyrion <kyria...@mypcrevolution.com> ---
My humble opinion on this bug and some food for thought

I dont understand why anything we launch with opengl disables compositor
This was not happening before and it is not that the application or games
request to do that.
Before this was not happening , compositor was always enabled!

Why we dont fix this issue first? I want the compositor to be enabled all the
time!
Maybe the bug with the corrupted textures was already their from the start but
it was not obvious because Plasma or KDE were not disabling-enabling kompositor
every time , on every opengl game or app so we were not able to reproduce this
bug.

Anyway I am not a developer or expert on these I just state my opinion that
disabling the compositor when I launch something it really screws everything ,
I have also noticed that some time widgets were not updated while I had the
compositor disabled.
Please dont tell me that is because the application request to disable the
compositor because it is not.
So in short how can I force the compositor to be enabled all the time ? Any
tips?

it seems is a shadow something that why I Cant capture that as a window and it
captures the plasma 5 desktop.

Yes when I move the window the corrupted shadow thingy is moving as well.

As I said before this actually is happening with ALL the 3D Games or any other
application is using opengl
KWIN automatically disables the compositor on launch of a 3D Application or
game which that was not happening before. So is behaving like
disabling/enabling compositor and causing these problems.

This was not happening before, KWIN was not disabling the compositor thats why
I didnt have any problems.
I think these problems occurred during the last update.

So noone of you can reproduce that bug... I mean you dont have any
Application/GAME that is using opengl to launch just to see that it disables
the compositor?

Text files

no problem --> without the problem
during the problem --> while running a specific game in sdlmame disabling the
compositor
with the problem --> exiting the game but having the texture corruption

[plasmashell] [Bug 360815] New: Widget : System Load Viewer

2016-03-21 Thread wolfyrion via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360815

Bug ID: 360815
Summary: Widget : System Load Viewer
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.5.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Monitor
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: kyria...@mypcrevolution.com

When the System Load Viewer Widget is Enabled the resources I monitor display 0
values or goes offline every 3 sec !?!?
http://i.imgur.com/Qk63U1t.png

And then it goes back to normal
http://i.imgur.com/LbRvcjW.png

so in short every 3 sec resources display 0 values ><

This causes huge Lag on Plasma 5 if I leave my computer turn on for days.
So I have been forced to remove these widgets.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just Add a new widget System Load Viewer
2.
3.

Expected Results:
continuously monitoring resources without any lag
