Normally, if you do this in Krita, it will select the PSD export filter for you and save as a proper PSD file. If you renamed and added an extension inside of the file browser, the file browser doesn't know what a PSD file is, so it cannot turn it into a proper PSD file (instead it stays the old file type, but then with a funny name). Krita in turn will get confused if you try to load a file that has a PSD extension but is not. Why you aren't seeing it in photoshop is probably because photoshop has some kind of dithering for it's brushes. In Krita such dithering is only enabled for the color smudge brush engine and gradient tool.
