Would you be able to force the freeze and get a backtrace of where it's frozen?

You can do that by calling:
gdb plasma-discover
run

and when it's frozen, you Ctrl+C on gdb and type "bt".

I build the master Version (5.9.90) with kirigami master branch on up2date
ArchLinux system and cannot reproduce this error anymore.

Does anyone else got further information?

I can reproduce this bug on current ArchLinux up2date system with discover
5.9.2 from today.

After trying to search for something it simply freezes and I have to kill the
application.
