Optimizing the images is probably a good idea. We already have a bug report
requesting this (Bug 474862) so I'm going to mark it as a duplicate of that.
I appreciate the work you did to optimize these wallpapers, but unfortunately
it's too late to use them since the .png versions are already live in the wild.
We'd have to commit to changing the file format for the next feature release
when there's a new wallpaper.
