Not being familiar with trackpoint hardware, I don't know what press-to-select
means, sorry. You'd need to ask the Libinput developer Peter Hutterer regarding
what trackpoint features Libinput supports nowadays.

Yes, it would be nice if trackpoints could be configured independently of the
settings used for touchpads.
